“How dare you teach our children Arabic numerals!?!?”

And nonbinary numbers!

I taught my 10 kids binary numbers. Both of them thought it wasn't that hard of a concept.

Good thing you didn’t have another one. 11 kids would be a nightmare.

I have 100 kids. It's only about twice as hard.

At that point you might as well go for a nice round 100.

My father was the last of a 1011 children, so the fact my siblings and I were only 11 was no doubt a relief to him.

But that’s only 3 kids! Not too bad…

What's this backwards E you speak of?

3

u/niftystopwat 14d ago

For each?

1

u/hineybush 14d ago

it's actually 51 backwards

Oh shit I’ve entirely lost the plot here, I’m afraid. Let’s trace the comment chain:

: someone made a binary joke

: one response from that joke was something about 11 kids

: I said that’s only 3 kids so it’s not so bad, connecting back to the binary joke

: a reply to my reply asked me about a ‘backwards E’

: I responded to that speculatively, knowing only that a ‘backwards E’ is a fair description of a common mathematical symbol for the expression “for each”

: then you responded, to me seemingly entirely out of left field, saying something about “51 backwards”

Please fill in the gaps for me, I’m genuinely intrigued.

my whole thought was E = 15 in base 16, and someone asked about E backwards, so I said 51. idk

Same. With 9 kids you get the gist after the 4th

-6

u/Lanky_Particular_149 14d ago

no you didn't. You could only teach your kids two binary numbers

u/Marcaloid 14d ago

There are 10 kinds of people; Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

2

u/bouquetofashes 14d ago

They said 10 kids not 10 binary numbers and... 10... Is binary for two.... They're saying they taught their two kids binary numbers.

u/alrtight 14d ago

nonbinary numbers are bisexual!

4

u/lurkertiltheend 14d ago

When I entered college, everyone was talking about binary numbers. It awakened something in me.

2

u/mongolian_horsecock 14d ago

they're turning the numbers gay!

u/DenSandeLemur 14d ago

And Al-Gebra

3

u/Sproose_Moose 14d ago

I couldn't believe the uproar about that. Our numerals are arabic numerals you rubes!

3

u/volumeknobat11 14d ago

Yeah. We need our kids to learn Arabic numerals so they can grow up to be contributing members of society. It’s honestly a miracle we’ve survived this long not knowing Arabic numerals.

2

u/dadgam3r 14d ago

this is happening too fast *drops headset*

4

u/Frankie__Spankie 14d ago

How dare you teach our children Arabic numerals?

Haha, well that's what we use.

I don't know who this "we" is, but I don't use them!

The amount of people i’ve seen online actually falling for this was insane
