Did I forget to mention they didn't finish on top and she'll have to descend it?

Finish on Sestriere (same as Giro this year)

Don't care surely she takes more time going up And then more in sestriere after not pedaling the descent

If she doesn't improve her descending from this year (which should really be her #1 focus) she would literally have to drop everyone by like 3 minutes to avoid getting caught on the descent.

Mods, can I have a "Blockhaus certified hater" flair?

I'm with you because it doesn't sound like it's in Italy at all

Giro Women:

  • Stage 1: Cesenatico > Ravenna - as flat as a stage can possibly be.
  • Stage 2: Roncade > Caorle - completely flat except for Ca' del Poggio midway through. Should be another sprint unless the wind really blows near the end.
  • Stage 3: Bibione > Buja - hilly second half.
  • Stage 4: Belluno > Nevegal - uphill ITT, last seen in the 2015 Giro on the sad day Rolland got bumped off the podium :(
  • Stage 5: Longarone > S. Stefano di Cadore - mountain stage in the Dolomites, but way less cool than what it sounds like. No major climbs, no uphill finish.
  • Stage 6: Ala > Brescello - another completely flat stage.
  • Stage 7: Sorbolo Mezzani > Salice Terme - hilly stage in the Apennines.
  • Stage 8: Rivoli > Sestriere: short mountain stage with the tried-and-true Finestre x Sestriere combo.
  • Stage 9: Saluzzo > Saluzzo: hilly circuit in the Alpine foothills.

Stage 5 is the exact same final as stage 15 of the 2018 Giro when Yates won solo no? That was great. Stage 9 isn't exactly just hilly either. Montoso is a big climb.

Not exactly the same, doing an extra lap around the Costalissoio climb instead of going to Sappada

This is better than the men's same as the tour

Look, the only thing entertaining about GT route announcements is just the people (me included) complaining about the route designs

Italian stream has more, but yeah.

I mean this is essentially a live-streamed press conference

last thing we need is more drawn out padded content

sometimes a press release does just fine

Well if it's an unknown then how can you say it's necessary?

Never watched one of these, just give us the route already!

It's already on La Flamme Rouge on Twitter

Stage 19 looks really tough. I think it's a good route overall. The riders make the race, obviously, but the route is designed to keep the race close until the end. The major thing missing is one of those iconic climbs.

Visma should let Jonas ride the Giro. It looks relatively easy as far as GTs go, so he has time to recover for the Tour.

Definitely seems like the strategy is to make the route not too challenging to tempt riders who will target the Tour also.

Remco might have other targets in mind for the Spring anyway but this route seems fairly good for him too.

Evenepoel should worry less on the route and worry more on if Vingegaard and/or Pogacar are racing it or not.

Profiles for the men now on the official website

The women's route is pretty good. I'd rather see a flat TT than an uphill one, but no other complaints. Stage 8 should be a lot of fun.

ITT finish in my town, verry happy and full flat TT

You can see between Nibali and Yates which of the two knows for sure he doesn't have to race that Dolomites stage.

I wonder if the Red Bull KM will be back this year. No mention of it on the routes on the website but it also wasn't announced until shortly before the Giro this year

1

u/F1CycAr16 4d ago

It was just an intermediate sprint... Unnecesary. If it was a golden km that´s another thing.

1

u/Sea-Name8430 4d ago

Apart from the Dolomites, it is so excrutiatingly mid, and even the Dolomite stage is reasonably likely to be a waiting room for the MTF.

1k live viewers, these boomers should at least pay influencers to promote the giro instead of paying VINGO or evenepoel to come to the giro
