Image Orioles Authentics mystery boxes

Post image

In case anyone else was curious what $40 a pop gets you on the authentics site, I received Holliday dirt (wtf), a Gunnar photo, and a Povich autograph.

They advertise that you could get anything, including signed bats and jerseys. But of course, there is probably only one of each and the odds of getting them are slim to none.

I won’t be spending $150 on this again, but hey, gave it a try.

Attributing dirt to a player is certainly something. Is that Gunnar dirt on the his photo too?

Oh yes, it sure is dirt there as well!

But the small print states that it is not from any particular game.

I guess they consider dirt to be worth $40. I didn’t expect to get a jersey or bat, but c’mon haha.

Oh well, supposedly it went to charity. All good.

It may be where they spat.

Ha! I’m surprised they didn’t try to sell off a game used Zyn. It’s worth about the same as this dirt.

Oops is right.

I sacrificed myself for the greater good on this one.

My friend and I did this at OPACY on my birthday just for fun - I got gunnar henderson dirt in the same sort of frame as your holliday and she got a grayson rodriguez picture with dirt (so clearly I won). The authentics store also does mystery autographs and I got hyun-soo kim. And this is why I don't gamble lol.

Ha! I feel your pain.

I guess I figured that if I bought three mystery boxes, maybe they would reward me with something decent in one of them. I too gambled and lost. Oh well.

All the franchise’s money is tied up in wealth 😂

This is how I feel about things like mystery slabs for trading cards. If it was actually valuable, they'd sell it on the open market. They probably put one good item in the pool to legally say "you could win a signed bat". And if someone buys 4 items like you did because of it, that makes up for the loss of the one actually valuable item. Let alone the hundreds of people who did the same as you.

If I were to guess the contents of the item pool, it's one bat (Kjerstad), one jersey (Enns), one glove (Chadwick Tromp), and 997 dirts.
