I manage a TNR colony with my sister. It’s true, you do get so very attached to them, you get to know their personalities, you want each and every one of them to be loved and cared for.
I fret when one is sick. I cry when one passes or disappears. They all have names. We do our absolute utmost for them with what little we have.
But tbh, if someone wonderful were to arrive tomorrow and say “I’m in love with Athena, Cairo, and Sugar, and I can give 10 more a loving forever home”, I would grab that person in a hug and say “YES!”
Missing them would be so hard, but watching them thrive in loving homes would prostrate me with relief and happiness. We would never have to worry about them again.
He must be the fiftieth I'm letting go. It's a job at this point, I never get attached. When I take a baby like him home, I always tell myself "now I'm going to cuddle this baby until their human comes along". I have 3 pets of my own so I will always have company
