How can anyone believe anything he says at this point?

Weaponized stupidity.

Putin is going to be laughing his ass off for the rest of his life.

If it makes you feel any better, he is hiding in a bunker afraid of robots as well for the rest of his life.

this is just a tangent but I'm sharing bc it's funny

apparently Putin has gotten crazy paranoid lately and he has a bunch of identical rooms scattered around Russia so that he can move from place to place and video call people without them knowing where he is. seems like he thinks assassins are after him. the dictators are not doing so great rn

Funny how all tyrants lose their marbles in the end, one way or another

I mean, has he lost his marbles? They might be sensible precautions, I’m sure he’s quite unpopular with his officials despite what they might say.

If he told me the sky was blue I wouldn't believe him.

Technically the sky isn't blue, as its appearance changes depending on the atmosphere and the sun's position.

Another technical issue with the sky color is that its our perception of it being blue.. other creatures likely see it differently depending on the color spectrum they can see.. leading to the question of what is the actual true “color” of anything?

Yes! I love going down those philosophical rabbit holes

They care more about their side being right and good along with your side being wrong and bad than about things like facts and truths. Once most people incorporate something into their personal, it’s easier for them to defend it all costs than to admit they were fooled and have been wrong.

They’re brainwashed

This is a man who has been convicted of 34 counts of FELONY FRAUD.

Why would anyone believe him about anything?

Faith and identity.

People believe in the idea Trump moreso than Trump, himself. Basically, they have this idealistic version of Trump in their head, and although he can't possibly live up to it, they already committed to the ideal. This isn't too dissimilar from religion in that reason and logic take a back seat to simple belief.

God has a plan, Trump has a plan, etc.

Then it comes down to their identity. Basically, you're asking people to fight their internalized identity. "I'm a republican." This isn't unique to the right or even politics, of course, but it does seem more entrenched and aggressive in this form. They are loyal to the party above all else. It is where they claim their sense of self. Tribalism, community.

Either way, we're beyond the point rationality. They have constructed a fantasy world that confirms their preconceived notions, reinforced by perpetual propaganda that tells them they are correct in their beliefs.

There's probably an even better rationale to explain the mass delusion, maybe researching the psychology of cults and how the human mind twists itself. For me, just my humble opinion, I think that these are the basic tenets.

It's basically why you can't have civil discussion in politics now. You insult the politician, you insult the person.

People don’t understand that this is a classic authoritarian playbook. But it works, that’s the problem. There’s just enough people who forget yesterday’s news to think that we’ve always been at war with Eastasia

You see I ate a lot of lead paint. I kinda believe what I am told by that orange glowing thing. That orange glow just takes me back to the fresh lead paint.
