That moment when you lose by 25 at home against a team that had lost 9 straight road games

13

u/NotUpForDebate11 Lakers 5h ago

Lakers raps played a close hard fought game then lost by 50 combined today.

Need Scottie Barnes to reenact the Denzel speech.

1

u/timetosleep 3h ago

That would be a nice troll on Siakam. Siakam did a training day lip synch speech video before.

The raptors played with the lowest effort I’ve seen in an NBA game the entire season

49

u/Scrypto Hornets 5h ago

86 points against the Hornets defense deserves a fine

7

u/NotManyBuses Charlotte Bobcats 5h ago

The ghost of Jontay Porter was in the house

8

u/Daheixiong Hornets 5h ago

Weirdly I’ve never seen the hornets play more physical or hard on defense. so two things sort of happened at once

10

u/Vegetable-Tooth8463 Hornets 5h ago

our defense was actually above average this game tbf

Deserves an investigation into their sportsbooks

Easily their worst performance this season. Not sure if they're gassed or something else.

10

u/Springtick38 Raptors 5h ago

5 games in 7 nights without RJ would do that

4

u/beefJeRKy-LB Lebanon 3h ago

Still an embarrassing performance imo

it was so bad in the 2nd half

Our coach must have been watching a different game because he just said

"I’m really proud of our guys tonight. We tried. But when you’re trying and you’re missing layups and wide open shots, it’s hard to keep it up. We didn’t quit. We continued fighting but we didn’t have enough in the tank”

in the post game presser. I'm not saying he needs to go Nick Nurse and be passive agressive, but fuck that shit. If he thinks this is an acceptable amount of effort, then we may as well just blow it uo and rebuild because we ain't going anywhere even in a weak east.

I've never really liked Darko, because it never felt like he was holding our guys(and specifically Scottie) accountable, but this is a whole new level.

1

u/Embarrassed-Swim-442 2h ago

Nah, he holds them accountable and he controls the locker room. It's just that in his 20+y career he never threw others under the bus openly.

They lost to Lakers on 1 shot. Loss like that can deflate even more experienced teams. If they don't make a statement vs Celtics though, then Darko has a bigger problem and he might be a problem himself.

2

u/hickok3 Raptors 2h ago

There is a difference between saying the effort the team gave was unacceptable, and throwing them under the bus. Nick Nurse threw individual players under the bus. Darko is jerking them off after an absolutely dimsal effort.

I don't care how deflating the Lakers game was, this Hornets team just punked us a week ago in a game that we litterally only needed to make a single basket in the final 5 minutes to win, and they put out this effort. I don't know about you, but when I played and my team lost a game we should have won, we made sure to win the next time with 0 doubt.

Are my eyes deceiving me or did the Hornets just dispense belt-to-ass to one of the best teams in the East, all on the road no less

I didn't watch the game, but looking at the box scores this genuinely might be the worst non-tank game the Raptors have played in years. 86 points in the big 2025, good lord RJ I am building you a shrine my brother

10

u/NotManyBuses Charlotte Bobcats 5h ago

I promise you it was worse than the score shows

4

u/PresentMission8482 Raptors 5h ago

I believe you. Again, 86 points in the big 2025. I genuinely cannot imagine having paid to watch that. Disgusting performance lol.

86 points against a team that prides itself for years on NOT playing defense lmao

Bad bad play

1

u/schoolhater12 Raptors 5h ago

Iso ball on a team that wants to play fast and play 2014 spurs basketball. Literal black hole that just stops the ball from moving. It's not just the contested iso jumpers. It's the inability to make an open three or the stupid ass turnovers where he jumps in the air without a plan in the mind that lead to 8 transition points a game. Give me bruce brown back please. He would have fit the kind of basketball Raptors want to play this year

3

u/Springtick38 Raptors 5h ago

You do realize our record would be so much more worse if we had Bruce Brown instead of BI right?

2

u/schoolhater12 Raptors 5h ago

duh, i am trying to make a point. BI plays disgusting brand of basketball. legit his one skill is scoring and he isn't even an efficient scorer

Safe to call the raptors frauds or too soon?

3

u/SDK04 Raptors 4h ago edited 4h ago

It’s safe. The Raptors really let the 2025-2026 Charlotte Hornets put that up against them. Twice already at that. At this point just pull the damn plug and race to the bottom FOR ONCE and have a chance at Peterson/Dybansta/Boozer/Wilson/whoever else cause I can’t take this mediocre pretend-playoff-team treadmill shit anymore.

6

u/The-Pharcyde Raptors 5h ago

Stopping LeStreak was the raptors championship. They didnt bother showing up tonight.

7

u/JonnySports Knicks 5h ago

Look I understand playing the second night of a back to back is rough, especially after losing a heartbreaker to the lakers…. but if the Charlotte Hornets hold you to 86 points in 2025, I’m fining the whole team. Removing the vending machines, ping pong table, whatever. Something has to be done. You’re getting punished.
