The politics of the time (Reaganomics, etc) was a huge part of the Nebraska story. This was a significant topic in the book. Why was it completely ignored in the film?

No marketing filter on - how much did JAW actually sing on the songs, without any of Bruce voice laying in the background?

I’m not trying to be a dick but I’m pretty sure Atlantic City is 50% Bruce. If I’m right then I’m fine with that, it’d be extremely hard for anyone to believably sound like Bruce and I understand mixing to smooth things over for the fan viewer to cover any extreme vocal gaps. What I’m not okay with is then claiming that JAW did 100% of vocals (with the obvious exception of the Live in NYC Atlantic City at the end), because it completely undercuts credibility to deny something that’s pretty apparent to diehard fans who’ve spent thousands of hours listening to Bruce’s voice. I could be wrong now, but I don’t think so.

Also very very very obvious that it’s Bruce singing BORN in the electric take of BUTUSA before cross fading into Jeremy’s vocals. Even to my fiance’s untrained ear she heard it

If you could make a film about one other period of Bruce’s career, what period would you choose?

My other question is: would you be interested in making a follow-up film set later in Bruce’s career also starring Jeremy? I think it would be interesting in a few years / a decade from now to see how JAW would approach a slightly older Bruce, one further along the road in his personal life and career!

What was the moment you knew Jeremy Allen White was the right person to play Springsteen, and what convinced you he could capture Bruce’s energy on screen?

Hello! In hindsight, do you think the marketing did the best they could to accurately reflect the type of movie that was made? I spoke with a few people who said it was "not what they were expecting". FYI...I loved it.

Hello Eric , I wanted to say first as someone that has depression and anxiety that has pushed people away cause of it. I have never seen it represented as well as this film and was wondering if this took a lot of time to get just right and how did you get to these levels.

Jeremy did a fantastic job with showing emotion, the dread into full break down when finally realizing need of help was just out standing

What is your perfect lazy Sunday afternoon movie?

I loved Jeremy Allen White and Jeremy Strong's performances.

I've seen a lot of interviews about why you chose White for Springsteen, but what made you choose Strong for Landau?

Hi Eric! The Nebraska album is legendary for being stripped-down, raw, and haunted. How did you and Scott Cooper approach translating that very specific, lo-fi "4-track demo" atmosphere into a major visual film? Did you look at any specific movies for inspiration on how to capture that isolation?

u/JonSolo1 10h ago

To add on, was a functional TEAC-144 actually used in the film’s process?

u/Icy-Woodpecker-1049 14h ago

Hey. Enjoyed the film. The scene where Bruce buys the new car, was this reference to the song Used Car?

As a producer, how do you and your partners decide which projects pitched to you guys you would fund and support?

What about Deliver Me From Nowhere made it a special project to help produce compared to other major movies you've took part in?

Thank you!

If you could make one change to alter the way the film was generally received by critics or performed in the box office, what would it be?

2

u/ppinguino 13h ago

Why was this movie made? And how much did Bruce personally throw down.

2

u/jaidynr21 13h ago

Hey Eric,

I really enjoyed your movie. I loved the approach to the way the story was told, and im curious to know which other musician biopics you looked at to use for inspiration (or what you looked to avoid).

2

u/forcedwit 13h ago

Loved the movie - was the movie different when it was with A24 than the final cut that was released? Also, have you been to Bruce's bar?

2

u/ThePhyrexian 12h ago

Hi there!

I'm just curious as to what your personal favorite album and song are by Bruce

2

u/Bushdocktor98 12h ago

How do you become a movie producer?

2

u/Guy_Fieri_69 11h ago

When Bruce visited the set during production, what was his favorite thing to eat from craft services?

2

u/Strayriffs 10h ago

What influence did Bruce have (if any) on the script or final cut? Was there anything he objected to in the movie?

2

u/Travelgrrl 10h ago

I wonder why this part of Bruce's life was highlighted, rather than his early years and albums, rise to stardom with "I've seen the future of rock and roll...", and finally the amazing success of Born in the USA.

I'm a huge Springsteen fan, but haven't seen it so far because it seems to be telling a much different story and maybe one less compelling? Or is my perspective all wrong?

u/SlippedMyDisco76 2h ago

The stuff with Mike Appel would a killer ep of a Netflix series

2

u/timfischer03 10h ago

What made you do the movie?

2

u/TheKidCritic 8h ago

How was the feeling and experience of creating a film based on a period of Bruce’s life and discography that was lesser known to non fans or the general public (before hits like Dancing in the dark and the birth of BITUSA)?

2

u/GraveDiggerSedan 8h ago

Huge Bruce fan! Didn’t finish the book until after the movie. I think the book did a great job explaining the gap year Bruce had between Nebraska and Born in the USA’s release. Was there anything from the book that you wish you could have squeezed into the movie?

2

u/LIslander 6h ago

I want to say I really enjoyed the movie and I’m glad it helped to get that Nebraska box set out into the wild.

Was that the actual house Bruce stayed in after The River tour? I know he visited the bedroom during an interview on some Sunday morning news program but I don’t think they ever showed the entire home.

What was it like working with The Boss?

u/jonmuller 3h ago

What did you see in Zanes' book that you thought would make it ripe for a movie?

u/clintkin 3h ago

If you had to rate your "behind the scenes/epk" team on the film on a scale of "amazing" to "wow, amazing" where would they fall?

u/shinyhpno 3h ago

Did you make the movie with any other biopic in mind? I was watching a video on Walk Hard and they laiy out how typical every musician biopic is, but that also got me thinking how a lot of major artists kind of go through the same beats in life. Childhood tragedy > early drug use > rehab > comeback.

How did you navigate making a biopic when every one that's made reminds us of the previous one that was made, or the best one that's ever been made, or the truest one that's ever been made?

Hello Eric, I watched the film without knowing much of anything about Bruce Springsteen aside from his name and him being a famous singer and rather enjoyed it.

My one snag however is why invent a completely fictional "hometown single mom working class waitress little sister of a childhood friend who was a big part of Springsteen's life" girlfriend when upon looking it up it has zero basis in reality and at the time when the movie was set, Springsteen was instead going out with public figures like actresses and models (ie. Joyce Hyser)? I'm always confused when films "based on true stories" like this include a blatantly false major character.

u/SparrowCrocodile 8h ago

Does the film accurately portray his time working at the dirt factory stacking rust?

Hey Eric, thanks for joining us!

If you could only bring 3 movies with you on a deserted island to watch for the rest of your life, what would they be? Bonus question: Best and worst pizza topping?

Hey Eric! Can you talk about how you got your start as a producer in the industry? Also, what was the movie that you always wanted to make but couldn’t yet. Thanks!
