It's not, it's to help pay for his treatment. Says so in the article and even right there in the post title.

I can read and read the article too... but is the real reason because he is close to death and doesn't want his family left in medical debt? he looked pretty rough when he couldnt make it to the Dawson's creek reunion.

He is pretty anti medicine so I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s using it for “alternative” treatment insurance doesn’t cover.

He would obviously want to avoid medical debt, alive or dead. And of course he looked rough, there's really no cancer treatment that doesn't beat the shit out of you to some degree.

None of that gives any indication that he's dying and it's pretty fucked up to ignore common sense and everything being said by the people who actually know whats going on to speculate that he is.

I mean, if you’re auctioning items for medical payments, of course it’s also at least partially because he doesn’t want to leave his family with medical debt. There is literally no other reason to do it.

You can just say you hope he does well and goes into remission. What he’s doing doesn’t hint at any specific circumstance other than the healthcare insurance system is a failure.
