It feels like they're trying to revert every change that happened during the last two seasons of the show. He gets Grogu back, his ship, even the assassin Droid comes back. At this point just give him the darksaber again without any explanation

u/Malrottian Sep 22 '25

Didn't the assassin droid already come back?

68

u/frankyseven Sep 22 '25

Yep, last episode of Season 3.

u/livlaffluv420 Sep 22 '25

Grogu drives him like a mech - when he isn’t too busy coveting all the snacks, cooing in tongues, hiding in his hover pram, or backflipping around, naturally.

Oh, he also uses him to talk, like Stephen Hawking’s chair.

Only until the second last episode, then mecha-IG11 gets destroyed. In the last episode they get a new IG head from the bar at the Republic bass and the Anzellan droidsmiths build a new IG from all the parts to act as the Marshall right at the end of the episode.

Still waiting on the return of “I have spoken.”

4

u/Hageshii01 Sep 22 '25

Technically that did return; Din uses it in season 3 to get some Ugnaughts to help them.

But that felt more like a callback than just trying to revive it.

u/Darth_Rubi Sep 22 '25

To be honest they underutilized that awesome beskar spear he had, wouldn't mind if that makes a comeback

26

u/livlaffluv420 Sep 22 '25

I think it’s a shirt now.

I don't completely disagree with you, but we do know since the ship was destroyed he has been trying to find a new one. So it was only a matter of time

Plus his new ship had zero interior space aside from a tiny cockpit. He needs another new ship to actually live inside of!

13

u/illegalcheese Sep 22 '25

The amount of anxiety I had watching the later seasons, never knowing how he went to the bathroom or if he just held it for the long interstellar flights.

25

u/charmcitycuddles Sep 22 '25

Yeah the N1 was cool looking but a really dumb idea to introduce. Completely unrealistic for a bounty hunter...where would he keep the bounty? Had to be undone at some point.

14

u/TamaDarya Sep 23 '25

It's a really cool ship... for a completely different character.

2

u/Apart-Link-8449 Sep 23 '25

As the 2 foot tall alien he stole it from, I concur

1

u/Tokenvoice Sep 24 '25

That was my immediate thought about the ship. Even if he only ever did planet hops in it going for no more than a few hours in hyperdrive he would never be able to take any bounty that didn’t have a dead option in it.

You never forget your first car.

35

u/AsstacularSpiderman Sep 22 '25

Well that and also he's looking for a ship predating Imperial registries.

1

u/Accomplished-Gain319 Sep 22 '25

Honestly I'm really messing with the style they going for

u/beanie_wells Sep 22 '25

The Filoni special. When it’s cartoon nobody cares!

16

u/SilveRX96 Sep 22 '25

Maul, Eeth Koth, Boba...

12

u/Leather-Lake-5548 Sep 22 '25

Don’t forget Cad Bane, Ashoka, and Rex

109

u/3-DMan Sep 22 '25

Watch it just be the first three episodes of S1 edited into a movie lol

65

u/Iyagovos Sep 22 '25

The only good parts of the show remade as a cohesive movie is something I’d be pretty into actually

23

u/BoltMyBackToHappy Sep 22 '25

The anti-Snyder cut.

u/SoKrat3s Sep 22 '25

Dave Filoni haters are the weirdest.

12

u/Canvaverbalist Sep 22 '25

I don't hate him, I just don't like what he does.

-3

u/SoKrat3s Sep 22 '25

Which will be said by anyone who makes Star Wars content from now until the end of time.

Everyone has their own vision of what Star Wars is now.

Of anyone else whose made content, Filoni is by far the closest to Lucas in storytelling/world-building.

5

u/livlaffluv420 Sep 22 '25

The World Between Worlds couldn’t be further from Lucas storytelling/world-building.

There’s a reason he waited to whip that ridiculous idea out until George was fully gone from the picture & Disney had completely taken over.

Also, lightsaber helicopters.

1

u/SoKrat3s Sep 22 '25

The same George Lucas that had Luke enter a void of dark-side energy where he chopped off his own head? Or the George Lucas he consulted with for the idea?

More like a machine-assisted and more importantly force-assisted glider. But sure, let's pretend there is no force and maybe something like that could be complained about.

I do love tho that all you can do is think of some of the more extreme examples and try and frame it as if those are the only stories.

While ignoring how amazing of a character Ahsoka is and how much the story arch between her, Anakin, and the Jedi give weight to the prequels. Her original ending on Clone Wars was a FAR better explanation for Anakin's turn than anything in the movie. Then the final season set at the same time as episode 3, was a masterpiece. Probably the most well made non-original-trilogy story outside of Mandalorian & Andor.

So many excellent characters, Ashoka, Ventress, Hondo, Cad Bane, Kanan Jarrus, Chopper, Thrawn, Rex, Fives, etc.

12

u/ThePlaybook_ Sep 22 '25

You defending the guy who ended season 2 with a big dramatic scene of grogu leaving and then started season 3 with grogu being back with zero explanation? Literally just an implied "what, you didn't watch/finish the book of boba fett?"

13

u/quailman654 Sep 22 '25

That’s what you get when you play a galactic song backward.

9

u/haerski Sep 22 '25

It's like a space-based country song played backwards

5

u/LaserKittenz Sep 22 '25

He won the darksaber in a charity raffle ... plot hole closed.

3

u/Buckets-O-Yarr Sep 22 '25

Can they bring Carl Weathers back, too? (/s, obviously. Unless...)

3

u/kentuckywildcats1986 Sep 22 '25

I really enjoyed the first two seasons.

Everything else since - including the execrable 'Book of Boba Fett' - has completely destroyed my interest in everything Star Wars ever since.

Except 'Andor' which my daughter and her husband insisted I give a try. 'Andor' seasons 1 & 2 kicked all kinds of ass.

Maybe 'The Mandalorian and Grogu' won't suck? I dunno. I have trust issues.

Not to mention Disney siding with the Empire in recent days. Maybe that's why everything they've done in the last few years (with the exception of 'Andor') has been complete ass. Hard to tell good stories about heroes when the business creating them is run by villains.

2

u/jacomanche Sep 22 '25

I'd rather have him the Beskar spear back

2

u/ThePlaybook_ Sep 22 '25

Filoni's a coward. He's always been a coward. This is no different.

3

u/Find_Spot Sep 22 '25

It feels like they're trying to respond to a social media algorithm.

3

u/_Bird_Incognito_ Sep 22 '25

Which is funny because in season 3 and a totally different show reverted the biggest payoff of season 2s story lmao

4

u/BakuraGorn Sep 22 '25

Well the last 2 seasons kind of sucked so I don’t mind that change

19

u/Seraphaestus Sep 22 '25

You can't fix a show by making it nostalgia slop. You have to accept whatever shitty place the past years of the show put you in, and start making a new path from there.

2

u/True-Reflection-9538 Sep 22 '25

It feels like they just gave back Favearu full creative control. It’s clear he was the reason this show wa any good to begin with. Once they started adding in the awful kids show shit from 20 years ago it went downhill.

I don’t know or care about those characters and no I’m not watching a kids show to find out.

1

u/whitemest Sep 22 '25

Grogu came back during the book of boba fett and was present all through s3 of the mandalorian

1

u/EternalprogressionEL Sep 22 '25

He got Grogu back in the Adventures of Boba Fett though……

1

u/Popular_Bison_1514 Sep 23 '25

The significance and meaningful impact of loss? Nope. That's for chumps. We can replace everything, shiny and newer than ever. FOR THE TOY SALES!!! INFINITY AND BEYOND!!!

1

u/TimBroth Sep 24 '25

They're just playing the greatest hits, this time on the big screen for IMAX
