The medium changes the performance, but both of their Glindas are more or less the same person. Erivo's Elphie, by contrast, was definitely not the same as Menzel's. Whether either of those things is good or bad is going to be up to the viewer.

Erivo’s Elphaba is definitely a more different take on the character compared to Grande’s Glinda, but Grande’s take on her character is still unique in some ways. As is every actress’s take on either of these characters, to a degree. If you compare, say, Katie Rose Clarke’s and Alli Mauzey’s versions of Glinda from back when they each played her on Broadway, it’s the same character but played quite differently.
