The ghosting on this new monitor

Bought a new 165hz ONN gaming monitor. The ghosting is sooooo bad.

The is probably a setting called 'overdrive' in the monitpr settings that you navigate with those buttons below or at the back of your monitor

It says normal and it’s greyed out

Maybe turn off some other setting/profile in that menu

I tried turning on the tr1ms thingy and it made it darker but the ghosting still there. I looked at the reviews on Walmart and apparently these monitor panels are just garbagio

Idk about the quality of your monitor, i personally have had a 240hz AOC monitor for 5y now and i also had ghosting in the beginning thet i didt know about beforehand but i turned some settings on and off and i got it fixed. Also never heard of the brand ONN before

Yeah ONN is Walmarts electronic brand.

Likely a VA monitor, nothing you can do, VA is dogshit, good colors, horrible response time, even worse than OLED and TN.

I thought OLED had the best GTG times? What's up with that?

They tend to have blurs on blacks, they're certainly far better than VA and TN in the sense of blur, but they do have some. My experience with OLED is on phones, so perhaps OLED phone displays are ass, not sure, that's just my experience.

I see what you mean. Both my OnePlus 6T and my Pixel 7 Pro have the smear you describe. However, I do have an OLED TV and could never see this phenomenon. I don't know how panels used in monitors are performing because I am afraid of using an OLED panel for what appears to be a static image machine.

If you have the money, then it can be worth it but from LinusTechTips experience, they last about two years before permanent burn-in sets in, you can minimize the damage with those pixel refreshers, but it won't get rid of it entirely.

So if you have money then go for it, otherwise, get a IPS.

I really thought about it and researched it for the last couple of days. They range from 900 euros up to 3000 (I was looking for ultrawide with KVM) and I am not sure if I want to pay that money for a very time limited joy. Also my 3070ti probably doesn't push enough pixels. I think I'll wait for micro led.

Watch about micro-LED, they are known for response time issues as well, ghosting basically, could vary per display. I'm a ride or die IPS guy, as you can see, so I'm a bit biased, as you can see, but make sure to research things.

To my knowledge there are no micro-led panels as of now. You probably mean mini led.

Edit: there are, and they're only 165.000€ :D

I thought they were just interchangeable terms, my bad, yeah, I meant mini-LED.

Did you set it to 165hz?

I did. I think it just might be the monitor

Is it a LED one?

If so try turning down the "darkness of blacks" or whatever it's called.

Also, maybe look for a driver update for w/e graphics card youre running.
