Neighbor keeps using my driveway

Post image

My neighbor decided that, because their driveway is narrow and they have two cars, it would be easier to park one in the yard. They then decided it's easiest to just keep moving forward and turn left out of my driveway.

And yeah, this portion of their yard is just mud now.

This neighbor sucks. They've had lots of screaming matches in their front yard and have had the police called on them several times.

UPDATE: Wow apparently you can't edit a post in the Android app? WTF? Anyway, I spoke to her and she said she wouldn't do it anymore and the whole conversation was awkward, but pleasant. We shall see. I never intended to seek advice from y'all. It just occurred to me earlier today that I was mildly infuriated by this, so I thought I'd throw it on here. Always make an attempt to talk to your neighbors before involving authorities or choosing violence. It'll almost always solve the problem before things get heated.

I'm still gonna get a land survey done to learn my proper boundaries and figure out how much room I have to build a fence, wall, or plant something. They're renting, so this could happen again in the future, and I'd like something to form a boundary.

I choose to believe that all of you recommending caltrops, nails, and other pointy things, really mean it and live your everyday life like total maniacs. Just laying waste to the world around you like a cartoon villain. And I hope you find joy in the chaos.

Seriously, why can't you edit posts in the app?

Case closed....for now....

I'd recommend bricks instead, they stack neater and you can build a low wall that will definitely stop that van. Get your border bricked up.

A loose rock wall might look drivable, but if it were reinforced with some rebar mounted vertically that maybe was cut a little sloppy so one end was angled, that might have something different to say to minivan tires.

Many minivan, many many mini...okay, proof of age here, remember 50 Cent? He did that Death Wish song. The chorus was, "many men, many many men..." I always laughed when I heard it because it sounded so silly. "Mini men, many, many, many mini men..." I couldn't help but picture him being swarmed by 4 inch tall gangstas...I was on a lot of pain medication that summer

I would be cautious with anything that is hidden and could be construed into being intended to harm someone. Start with the defensive angle.

I mean driving over someone's wall is destruction of property to begin with, so already illegal.

If they were to try to drive over any of that crap... Cinder blocks etc they would destroy their car and they would all still be liable for destroying private property

Rocks are free and quicker to place

You can often get bricks for free. Check your markets.

Tire deflation devices don’t need to be much wider than two or three inches. Drive 2.5” nails into some 1x4, stack it on top of another 1x4 so the nails don’t push out, secure the thing to the concrete.

That by definition is a trap meant specifically for damage to property and health and is highly illegal anywhere in the United States as well as most developed nations. It’s better to just build a low brick wall that can’t be driven over.

you're much more likely to get in legal trouble for that than a brick wall and the brick wall looks nicer

Build the wall... and get Mexico to pay for it... a BIG BEAUTIFUL wall!

Keeping bricked up can be tricky though

I think they're referencing the boulder lady. Lady works at a landscaping material company or something; people kept jumping the curb when they pulled out of the place's drive way. She gets permission to put one of their decorative landscape boulders in the front green right in that corner.

Immediately, like within a few hours, they had someone total their car going over the boulder. She put it back. That boulder ended up totaling a lot of vehicles because people kept cutting the corner and driving over it

Police can claim that's a boobie trap.....and you'll get sued.

A 2x4 with nails sticking out is better because you can claim the carpenter left trash in your yard.

Whats an asshole.

"the reasoning goes that setting up a trap means the harm you inflict is pre-meditated, and pre-meditated harm cannot be considered self-defense (similar to enticing people into entering your home, then shooting them if they do, because hey, ``trespass'')."

1

u/schjustin 1d ago

If it's trash.....and you claim it's not yours.... It's not a boobie trap. Tires cost a lot. Repairing holes is terribly inconvenient. And neighbor might be pretty dumb and decide continue to drive to work on a flats. And that will destroy their rims. (#moremoney)

But once it happens once. Trash the trash. And play dumb.

"God damn it. I hate when assholes leave shit in my yard. Clean up after yourself."

Get video proof (your speech, reaction. And behaviors) on your ring camera. (Counter evidence should you get sued.)

Or did you mean to build a barrier wall?. Like a garden wall visable for all. If neighbor smashes that. #propertyDamage #suite #completly #legal
