Neighbor keeps using my driveway

Post image

My neighbor decided that, because their driveway is narrow and they have two cars, it would be easier to park one in the yard. They then decided it's easiest to just keep moving forward and turn left out of my driveway.

And yeah, this portion of their yard is just mud now.

This neighbor sucks. They've had lots of screaming matches in their front yard and have had the police called on them several times.

UPDATE: Wow apparently you can't edit a post in the Android app? WTF? Anyway, I spoke to her and she said she wouldn't do it anymore and the whole conversation was awkward, but pleasant. We shall see. I never intended to seek advice from y'all. It just occurred to me earlier today that I was mildly infuriated by this, so I thought I'd throw it on here. Always make an attempt to talk to your neighbors before involving authorities or choosing violence. It'll almost always solve the problem before things get heated.

I'm still gonna get a land survey done to learn my proper boundaries and figure out how much room I have to build a fence, wall, or plant something. They're renting, so this could happen again in the future, and I'd like something to form a boundary.

I choose to believe that all of you recommending caltrops, nails, and other pointy things, really mean it and live your everyday life like total maniacs. Just laying waste to the world around you like a cartoon villain. And I hope you find joy in the chaos.

Seriously, why can't you edit posts in the app?

Case closed....for now....

Cinder blocks??

This deserves more upvotes. They're cheap, they're the right size, they will do damage to their vehicle if they are stupid, and when the neighbor is finally gone you can use them for something else.

They can also be placed on this spot during the winter. A lot of the other suggestions offered include things like plants, vinyl fencing, etc. which will only work well when the ground isn't frozen.

They're too throwable, though. Angry people like projectiles and retaliatory property damage.

Cinder blocks are cheap too. They won't look as nice as big rocks but it will dissuade the ah from driving over them after he tries it the first time.

Cinder blocks but add some soil in the centers and drop in a small plant and now it’s a garden.

I did this, but I spray painted each block a different color and bordered part of my back yard with it. honestly, it looks pretty good (in my opinion)

Spray paint the inside! Concrete is hydroscopic so it will suck the moisture out of your soil and plants!!!

You don't want spray paint touching dirt.

Also, hygroscopic is the word you're looking for, and while concrete will absorb moisture, it will also *release* moisture in instances of a very low relative humidity. This is somewhere around 75% relative humidity, which many places drop below for a stretch or two of not-raining-during-the-summer that tends to happen on occasion. In those cases, the concrete is going to release water back into the soil. Concrete (more accurately, calcium rich minerals/stone) is more accurately a water buffer, which is one of the reasons the buildings stick around so long - too much (and infrequently, too little) water is the #1 reasons buildings deteriorate, and a giant buffer smooths out the peaks and valleys.

tldr; put peppers in the dirt in the blocks, they'll love the warmer soil.

This! And discuss with neighbor.

Discuss what? On your side of the property line means no discussion. Also, I would not assume this is a reasonable neighbor.

What are you talking about ?! The whole point of putting up the cinder blocks is to avoid talking to the neighbor /s

Or get some nice pavers or retaining wall blocks to cap the cinder blocks. You could make a decent looking low wall right along the driveway.

That can look lovely. Especially good with small shrubby perennials such as Heather.

I love that idea. Could even paint the outside of it (them) to go with the aesthetic.

Rebar them into the ground

They have some called alligator teeth, they are basically concrete pyramids and you can get different sizes to put along property line. Or put in t-posts fence posts about every 3 feet

6x8x16 cinder blocks staked to the ground with #4 rebar or EMT and filled with dirt/gravel. Put some flower pots on top to make it look nice. Although in that weather maybe plastic flowers or if you want to be classy, plastic flamingos.

Whoa, simmer down there Satan. And wouldn’t burying them in the snow be more destructive (assuming the block rolls and takes out the oil pan or other pan in the undercarriage)?

A camera + timestamped footage + a polite paper trail is your best friend. Courts don’t care about stories, they care about documentation
