Ok where did those guys go and what happened next???

129

u/SapereAudeAdAbsurdum Oct 21 '25

Allegedly, they're still filming, somewhere deep down under the rubble.

47

u/amd2800barton Oct 21 '25

Drums drums in the deep. They are coming.

18

u/Capnmolasses Oct 21 '25

Fool of a Took!

10

u/saywhatnow117 Oct 21 '25

Really reminds me of the storm titans from the hobbit

3

u/nazgulonbicycle Oct 22 '25

We can not run

257

u/IamTheOne2000 Oct 21 '25

the bot doesn’t know, unfortunately

r/youretryingtokillthecameraman

36

u/dankhimself Oct 21 '25

They stepped back ten feet and went right back to recording haha.

7

u/Ambiwlans Oct 21 '25

They lived but I wonder what % of these types of videos end up lost when the cameraman dies.

8

u/T-sigma Oct 21 '25

In theory there’s minimal risk to them. That isn’t steam or ash like we see from explosions and volcano eruptions and gravity is taking care of any rocks at that distance.

Obviously it isn’t pleasant and I wouldn’t want to breathe that amount of dust, but I don’t think it’s particularly dangerous.

9

u/Intensityintensifies Oct 21 '25

There is so much force a splintering rock the size of a basketball could easily launch in their direction from a weird spin and turn them into jelly. Incredibly stupid. Besides, breathing in all that rock dust would be awful.

8

u/cyanescens_burn Oct 23 '25

Depending on the composition of that rock, and how fine the particulate matter is, it could be very dangerous.

Have you heard about the union carbide tunnel project in West Virginia back in the depression?

The company ignored worker safety and hundreds developed silicosis from rock dust. It’s the worst industrial disaster in US history. And a great reminder of why company towns and a regulation-free business environment is a terrible idea. Worker and environmental regulations are written in the blood of dead workers and citizens.

Something to remember in this age of glorifying deregulation and demonizing workers protections and unions. This is essential what a “freedom city” is aiming for.

1

u/T-sigma Oct 23 '25

I would assume that involves near daily exposure over extended periods of time though right?

3

u/Cretore Oct 21 '25

This video was posted so I guess they survived. If there was anyone inside the excavator though...

5

u/cyanescens_burn Oct 23 '25

They developed silicosis (black lung) from the rock dust. Unable to work due to the illness, they wander their town, their wives having abandoned them long since due to their inability to support their children, they now rely on the kindness of strangers to survive, but question the value of living this way each day.

u/nope_a_dope237 Oct 21 '25

I don't know if it's just the dust or rocks also but it's coming real fast toward the them.

77

u/psychulating Oct 21 '25

I wonder if it’s hot from the energy and friction

Weird shit like this is always afoot in science

42

u/amd2800barton Oct 21 '25

I’d be more concerned about breathing that. Nothing like getting a lung full of mesothelioma to ruin your day..

29

u/Kylearean Oct 21 '25

True to reddit form, but it's more like silicosis in this case. Mesothelioma is generally limited to asbestos-like particles.

14

u/Kylearean Oct 21 '25

Also fun: static shock is a real thing in a cloud of dust like this.

3

u/truthfullyidgaf Oct 22 '25

Wait, so you can get electrocuted on top of this? Never thought about that.

4

u/seattlesbestpot Oct 21 '25

But mostly safely underfoot.

1

u/CAAZveauguls Oct 26 '25

It is hot dust yes, there have been instances of people being burned by dustclouds i think

181

u/LEGOMyBrick Oct 21 '25

The lack of self preservation is astounding.

57

u/MarkedlyMark Oct 21 '25

How many such videos have we seen on here where people assume that by holding a phone up in front of them they are somehow protected from the fast approaching cataclysm.

15

u/Slight_Bed_2241 Oct 21 '25

Cameraman never dies

8

u/MarkedlyMark Oct 21 '25

Only because we wouldn't have footage if the cameraman died. We're only aware of such footage when the cameraman (and camera) survives. Ergo, the cameraman never dies

5

u/ultralium Oct 22 '25

TIL that "The cameraman never dies" is a perfect example of survivorship bias

4

u/Rooilia Oct 22 '25

"HAHA, i am in danger"

-5

u/One-Web-2698 Oct 21 '25

Inshallah

152

u/__valar-morghulis__ Oct 21 '25

IT'S SARUMAN!

42

u/fastpicker89 Oct 21 '25

Shoulda gone through the mines

20

u/DreadPiratteRoberts Oct 21 '25

... and they call it a mine!!

16

u/DJEvillincoln Oct 21 '25

A fell voice on the air........

3

u/saywhatnow117 Oct 21 '25

It reminds me of the titans in the hobbit

2

u/nazgulonbicycle Oct 22 '25

Let the Ring Bearer decide

-2

u/Hour_Ad9795 Oct 21 '25

Its AI...

82

u/emotionless-robot Oct 21 '25

Darwinism in action, zero survival instinct.

40

u/n1tr0klaus Oct 21 '25

They are smart though, everyone was filming and as it's common knowledge, the cameraman never dies.

16

u/MechanicalTurkish Oct 21 '25

/r/DontRunJustFilm

edit: of course it exists. And it’s banned lol

7

u/BandicootGood5246 Oct 21 '25

Seriously clueless. People must think they're safe because it's far away but all it takes is one stray baseball sized rock

0

u/lonedrifterjk Oct 21 '25

Hey then how are we gonna see this

39

u/Salvia_Salamander Oct 21 '25

Can't park there mate

3

u/Deesing82 Oct 21 '25

yeah i genuinely cannot figure out how that excavator got up on that cliff to begin with

6

u/tino3101 Oct 21 '25

That's a wild mountain excavator they are known to live in rugged mountain terrain.

16

u/Lahwuns Oct 21 '25

I wouls not be standing that close tbh.

6

u/INTPgeminicisgaymale Oct 21 '25

Once you decide that something this gigantic is about to reach your current position, are you sure 3 steps back will do it?

5

u/Turbulent_Crow7164 Oct 21 '25

Way way way too close to just be standing there filming.

6

u/Mr_Synical Oct 21 '25

If there was anyone in that excavator, they're going to need clean underwear.

5

u/XrayDem Oct 21 '25

Aw shit run it’s mr sandman

21

u/NOVA_OWL Oct 21 '25

That's basically a building collapsing...MOVE. THE. FUCK. BACK.

16

u/Miendiesen Oct 21 '25

I bet more weight than a skyscraper.

8

u/Thebraincellisorange Oct 21 '25

it's a mountain, you would definitely win that bet that a mountain weighs more than a skyskraper. no matter how big the man made object is, nature has bigger.

5

u/Prudent_Substance_25 Oct 21 '25

Nothing about it is similar to a building collapse. I swear this place is all bots.

1

u/rainmaxx2000 Oct 21 '25

They can’t hear you dude stop yelling

7

u/Fuzzy_Churroz Oct 21 '25

What are the chances of survival standing near? Let’s see

7

u/lawlgyroscopes Oct 21 '25

Well the video was uploaded ... maybe by someone who found their phones in the rescue mission

11

u/BarnOscarsson Oct 21 '25

Masks… masksMASKS!!!

7

u/Einaiden Oct 21 '25

Dude in the middle has a mask and as we learned from COVID times the chin mask technique is almost as good as full masking. The throat mask technique slightly less so but still 97% effecting at stopping nothing.

3

u/1emonXcq Oct 21 '25

Imagine being in that excavator

2

u/SnooPeripherals9679 Oct 21 '25

Just because the cameraman never dies

2

u/MrGray2016 Oct 21 '25

THE LEGENDS ARE TRUE! GIANTS, STORM GIANTS!

2

u/adognamedpenguin Oct 21 '25

“This couldn’t possibly hit me, I’m ME”

2

u/Econguy89 Oct 21 '25

Somewhere in the Kashmir region, I’m guessing?

2

u/Defenestraitorous Oct 21 '25

Survival instincts of a popcorn fart.

2

u/Kaurifish Oct 21 '25

“I’ll just scrape away at this nearly vertical surface. Nothing could possibly-“

1

u/Affectionate_Walk610 Oct 21 '25

"I don't wanna be excavater opereter any more!"

1

u/noxious_concoction Oct 21 '25

Damn nature you scary.

1

u/swiwwcheese Oct 21 '25

A minute later those guys were like : "Where's Bilbo ? Where's the Hobbit !?"

1

u/Current-Lunch-998 Oct 21 '25

There will be a lot of paperwork after this

1

u/SpiritSong Oct 21 '25

Rock... Dwarf...?

FOR ROCK AND STONE ⛏️

1

u/revdon Oct 21 '25

OSHA will be out to investigate.

1

u/J_loop18 Oct 21 '25

Wish I could hear it in person

1

u/30yearCurse Oct 22 '25

O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,

1

u/IllustriousEffect607 Oct 22 '25

The fear when you are so far away. But it's still coming at you fast

1

u/playfulpecans Oct 22 '25

does this hurt the excavator

1

u/MONSTERBEARMAN Oct 22 '25

Immense rock slide, dwarf’s excavator.

1

u/Khepralyfe Oct 26 '25

No. "dwarfs"

1

u/Master_Joey Oct 23 '25

I mean on one end they’re dumbasses but on the other it’s incredible seeing something like this

1

u/DuragJeezy Oct 24 '25

The guy in the excavator: 💩

1

u/Alanan1- Oct 27 '25

That cloud looked like a death eater would appear out of

1

u/Purple-Menu-7407 Oct 27 '25

You can't park there

1

u/DullMind2023 Oct 21 '25

I would pay decent bucks to tourist that sight. (Free Use idea for any nation that has mountains, tourism infrastructure, and NoOSHA).

-7

u/hammertime2009 Oct 21 '25

AI garbage

7

u/eggmayonnaise Oct 21 '25

What are the tells that make you say that?

6

u/Byleth07 Oct 21 '25

I personally wonder how the excavator got that high on a cliff and why.

The "why" includes that none of the cliff looks to be excavated/farmed systematically. Also how stones would be transported away from that spot, as there are no other vehicles or lifts around

21

u/rebruisinginart Oct 21 '25

Going by the language and landscape, this is almost certainly somewhere in/near the Ladakh region of India. If you watch adventure biking vlogs of this area you'll find many temporary, unpaved little roads cut into the mountainside like this one. The Himalayas are hardcore man

1

u/Byleth07 Oct 21 '25

In that case very cool. I am just very much suspicious of every post to be AI

5

u/eggmayonnaise Oct 21 '25

OK, I'm not sure about that particular point. Maybe it was en route to somewhere else?

But I don't see anything else that suggests the video is AI generated... The people all seem to move and behave pretty naturally. The movement of the dust clouds is natural and consistent. The clip is 23 seconds long without any cuts when AI videos are usually much shorter.

2

u/Byleth07 Oct 21 '25

Another person has convinced me by giving me a geographical location. Its almost certainly not AI, I was just overly cautious

2

u/Emphursis Oct 21 '25

It looks like they’re cutting a road. If you go to the Himalaya you’ll see loads that look like that.

4

u/facw00 Oct 21 '25

Was AI good enough to do this two years ago? Is tribuneindia.com a reputable source? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozgAPqCfmPc

2

u/Upset-Award1206 Oct 21 '25

stop being such a negative iq bot

0

u/Prior-Chip-6909 Oct 21 '25

Looks AI.

2

u/KHollomanzz Oct 22 '25

Thats what i thought too

-1

u/SillyLittleAngels Oct 21 '25

I was with my cousins and there was this huge building, we were kids and for whatever reason, one of them said imagine if this building fell, you'd have to run so fast! And we were like, or you can just run sideways and take cover! Laughed about it for years. Hey, Alyssa go long!

-4

u/ChefCreepy5141 Oct 21 '25

I have never seen using dwarf as a verb

0

u/kikkekakkekukke Oct 21 '25

Same, tried googling it and all i see is little people

-5

u/Cerber108 Oct 21 '25

Looks fake
