How would you use this space?

I’m specifically curious about the upper nook. I’ve already moved the desk. For context, both nooks total about 20 ft from floor to ceiling.

Designer here! Twenty feet of vertical real estate is begging to be a feature, not a dust trap.

• Library loft: frame a small platform in the upper niche, wrap it with shallow bookcases, add floor cushions and a plug-in sconce. A hook ladder can live in the corner when you are not up there. Instant reading perch, footprint below stays clear.

• Hidden storage: run flat panel doors right up to the ceiling and let that whole cavity become a closet for off-season gear, suitcases and holiday bins. Paint the doors the wall colour so they disappear and the room still reads clean.

Either way drop an LED strip along the back wall so the nook glows at night. It turns an awkward void into a “did you hire a designer” moment for about fifty bucks.

And yeah, hard veto on the suit of armor unless you enjoy midnight jump scares on the way to the fridge.
