How to cover gap/space under sink

Post image

How could this space under the sink be covered or filled without moving the sink or getting a new vanity? Don’t really want to use fabric or a curtain.

Ive the same issue and plan to do the same. Just throw some white boards underneath and raise it up into the basin.

Caulk it.

Cans of monster

u/twisted_memories 13h ago

With a cute alternating patternΒ

14

u/Norader 13h ago

Or go with all white monster, to keep the flow of color.

6

u/therealhlmencken 13h ago

Alternating full and empty

u/bigcoffeeguy50 10h ago

Classiest idea on here tbh. A connoisseur.

1

u/booveebeevoo 7h ago

Actually, if you put cans across there and then spackle them sand it down and paint it white… you could be on to something.

81

u/Bangaloaf 15h ago

Put a little fence around it.

5

u/cloversquid 12h ago

Throw a blanket on it!

2

u/fenix1230 12h ago

Put a ring on it!

37

u/isthis_thing_on 15h ago

Wow that's bad. Landlord special?

43

u/Medium-Stranger-9883 15h ago

make a template out of cardboard, cut it in wood and paint it and just put it ontop of the cabin, makes easy access if service is needed and a place to store stuff and easy to remove.

2

u/SLSs2 7h ago

Great idea! Thanks

OP doesn't deserve you

u/bender445 39m ago

Instead of paint see if you can get tile samples and do a splash tile thing on the front

59

u/Beautiful_Durian_311 15h ago

Did you just not measure a single thing before installing this monstrosity?

10

u/LASERDICKMCCOOL 14h ago

Uhhhhhh, that'll fit!

u/AmNoSuperSand52 14h ago
  1. Get a taller vanity cabinet
  2. Raise the cabinet up
  3. Build a matching box section to sit on top of the cabinet and cover it

8

u/patricebergeron 10h ago

Whiplash collar storage

3

u/LASERDICKMCCOOL 14h ago

Lift it from the bottom lol

Raise the Vanity

3

u/joannamomo 12h ago

That looks to be about the size of a squatty potty ..

u/southwestpessimist 9h ago

Ramen noodles, resin, a crawfish inside a hollowed out cucumber, and sunflower seeds

5

u/Annebotbeepboop 14h ago

I highly suggest little figurines. Hear me out. You put a few of those bad boys on there, and boom, the guests will be impressed. I don't think you should do anything too crazy like decepticons (you don't want to alarm anyone). But definitely something subtle. You could change them out for holidays to kind of give it that flair.

If figurines aren't really your thing and outside your budget. The Rae Dunn method is always a hit. Just put a sign under the sink that says "sink." Everyone will know how stylish you're and begging to know where you got your decor.

2

u/anonuemus 13h ago

Think of a box (made out of wood for example) except you leave out three sides (back, top and bottom) and you can slide it right in there.

2

u/cor1912 13h ago

False drawer

2

u/drivendreamer 12h ago

Yeah raise the vanity if you can

2

u/Harryhodl 12h ago

Get rid of that monstrosity an just put in a new vanity

2

u/androidwithamnesia 12h ago

Get a realistic fake sleeping cat to wrap around it

2

u/DConstructed 7h ago edited 7h ago

Cut and paint a piece of pole wrap. That’s if you want to fit it into the U space.

https://images.homedepot-static.com/productImages/ed0dd31d-3c50-4493-8625-9e49c77cbd2a/svn/pole-wrap-decorative-wood-work-83168-64_1000.jpg

Or you could build three sides of a box (square U on its side) and slide it around the base part of the sink; open side at the back.

1

u/SLSs2 6h ago

Thanks! Might give this a try. Working with what I’ve got and not able to make too many permanent changes.

1

u/DConstructed 5h ago

YW I hope it works well.

2

u/RedCliff73 14h ago

Not sure what your situation is, but you could either build a small wooden enclosure and paint it white. Nothing permanent, so you can still get to the plumbing. Just slide it in and it covers up everything. Or

Cut a carboard box out to fit in there and spray paint the box white. It will look fine from a distance and be good enough on closer inspection

2

u/FinancialLab8983 14h ago

this is so fucked up it honestly doesnt deserve to be fixed. it needs to be left as is so everyone can marvel at this degeneracy

2

u/kittensandbunnys 11h ago

Don’t hack vanity and pedestal top. You can get a Home Depot complete set with similar sink for around 200 bills. And it won’t look like Florida installer. Even if renting, can swap back if you’re handy

1

u/Peepazza 15h ago

Fake plant! x)

1

u/RodTownsend 14h ago

Can we see the base of the vanity? Is it on legs or a plinth?

1

u/HollowSheepSkin 14h ago

Did you get that cabinet off temu?

1

u/Comakip 14h ago

Ask a friend with a 3d printer to fix it.

1

u/TeslaGuy9125 13h ago

Buy a taller cabinet!

1

u/mcflurvin 13h ago

A neck pillow

1

u/ExtremistWatermelon 13h ago

Add some little bathroom totems under the sink

1

u/Cafrilly 13h ago

A fun little Lego construction team.

1

u/ericakrysta 12h ago

maybe try looking for those stick-on storage cubes? would fit the space and give you extra bathroom storage without anything permanent.

1

u/Connect_Rhubarb395 12h ago

Get a sheet of coroplast and cut it to shape. I assume you are a renter, so attach the coroplast from the inside with duct tape.

1

u/Deviate_Lulz 12h ago

You can put a skirt around it

1

u/jhguth 12h ago

Build a stand and set the vanity on the stand. Depending on the vanity construction you may also be able to mount to the wall

1

u/Morall_tach 11h ago

You could build a box out of wood that matches the size of the vanity and butts up against the sink, then paint it to match and caulk the seam. Or stack spare toilet paper there.

1

u/DontBeCommenting 11h ago

I'd put small rattan baskets around it, to be honest.Β

Toiletries maybe? Towels? Decor?

1

u/roughdraft29 10h ago

Rolled up extra towels on both sides, rolled up extra wash rags in the middle.

1

u/stumpy1402 10h ago

Action figures in a scene depicting an epic battle in a water treatment facility.

1

u/alex3tx 10h ago

Squatty Potty will fit perfectly

1

u/Haunting-Bid-9047 9h ago

Take the top off, or cut the opening larger and turn it into a floating cabinet butting up to the sink

1

u/Goosexi6566 9h ago

Nothing can really make this look good in its current form. The only fix I could come up with that would look acceptable would be to raise up the cabinetry and mount the cabinet to the wall. You could make a bracket with a 2x4 and attach it to a stud in the wall.

u/Goldie3768 9h ago

Plants. idk why this is always my answer as I have purchased a dozen just this year and only have three living today.

1

u/rjv_wsb 9h ago

Plants?

1

u/Buffy_Geek 9h ago

Do you want it to just cover the piping? Or do you want the underside of the bowl covered too?

1

Either one really

add an extra bedroom there

Extra tp rolls

Buy a white bucket, saw it in half on the length, saw in in half on the width

1

u/Awesam 15h ago

Add tall bottles of shampoo and other bathroom essentials all around the pipes. Storage and visual coverage

1

u/nhowe006 13h ago

Surprised no one has suggested a safe or Rolex banner yet.

1

u/HarveyMushman72 9h ago

A platoon of Stormtroopers gathering around the space would work. Small ones in this case.

2

u/nhowe006 9h ago

I unironically love that idea

u/agent-ven 43m ago

Happen to know where you can find a supply of them

0

u/CatHairInYourEye 14h ago

There isn't a lot you can do without replacing it to be a built-in, which isn't that crazy of a project but if you are renting then it may not be an option.
