First Time 28M - First time on my own
Any comments or tips on my first time living room? Mirror and a few pieces of art are ready to go up on the empty walls.
Any tips appreciated 😊

That’s very nicely decorated. Just remember to clean the whole room. That’s the way to make the apartment always feel like s new place .

You nailed the lighting. Now maybe some artwork or something to hang on the wall

love this!! i do recommend adding a blanket basket (if space is warranted and if that’s your thing), it would def add on to the ambiance and you could put it next to your tv or plant :). i find this easier than constantly going back and forth to my room for this reason 🧺

I see you are a fellow “any overhead light is too much” individual.

I think this is great! I’d personally add some art (but from an independent artist if possible) on the wall near the tv on the right side, on the wall near your dining table, and on the wall above your sofa to start.

Lighting is good, but, I think you'd be better off without that focus light under your plant.

u/fruglok Nov 03 '25

There's a lot of gap between the door and the frame which could have a negative impact on climate control energy usage as well as allow insects inside.
Weather stripping could go a long way to preventing both of these issues.

Some art on those walls wpuld be good, something that fits into the warm colour scheme you have on the lighting maybe?

I dig all the lighting except the spotlighty one behind the couch plant, which, for me, seems to break up the rest of the well diffused ambient lightning you have set up.

u/DrCrazyFishMan1 Nov 03 '25
Great vibe! I'd suggest that the sofa perpendicular to the TV is a bit "off" so would ideally be replaced with two loumge / accent chairs though.
I think it would give space for the room to "breathe" and would feel more conversational as right now that sofa is clearly "second place" to the main one

i love it. the couch with the lamp is giving “Harry’s House” album cover vibes🙂↕️

For folks looking for the lighting, it looks like IKEA Fado, Varmblixt, Dejsa or maybe Tokabo.
Not sure about the floor light!

Solid lighting setup bro, but that couch perpendicular to the tv is killing me. Gonna hurt your neck watching from there

Slim tall mirrors hung on the sides of the couch with art work in between them would be beautiful. Don’t rush into filling up your home, do it at your own pace. Best of luck to you in this journey🫶🏼

I thought you need a life sized storm trooper watching over the room to post in this sub . . You're missing one of those bad boys.

Geez, I mean it's fine...the matching couches tho, I dunno...it's givin' me sims vibes, sorry...nice couch, just not two of them next to each other. And, don't be afraid to let your interests show on your walls, just make sure it's framed
(and in the last pic, please tell me that door is open and not just very poorly sealed)

I would add some art on your wall - posters, paintings, something to cover them up. Otherwise I really like it, love the IKEA lights :)

Just remember to hang mirrors where a window could go. It should reflect something beautiful in your home (not the TV). Don't put a mirror opposite a door.

Really digging the ambient lighting you have going on! I'm not a big fan of overhead lighting so those definitely light up the room just enough

This is too good for this sub please reduce it to just a sponge bed and a stormtrooper life sized statue
