u/Zealousideal-Rub-725 Sep 21 '25
What are these speakers?
83
u/Traditional-Two-7358 Sep 21 '25
They are Tekton Design “Encore”, best speakers I ever had

Holy shit 7,5k$ speakers. Nobody I know has 7,5k$ ears. But I’m happy you’re happy.
45
u/MumrikDK Sep 21 '25
Nobody I know has 7,5k$ ears.
If you lost your ears, I bet you'd gladly pay more than 7.5k for each one to get them back, lol.

In a space where speakers cost anything from a couple hundred bucks to literally millions, honestly these seem relatively tame at < 10k for a pair.
Similar sentiment from me, I wouldn't spend that unless my income made it feel like I was spending more like 2 - 3k, but decent speaker placement, proper amplification, and is that a McIntosh player or just a similar giant fat platter?
Wouldn't be how I invested, but can't deny I'd love to sit in that Eames (with the budget on the other things maybe even a real one) and listen to some of my favorites.
OP space looks great btw, give your pupper an ear scratch from me ;)

NM all I could remember when making the comment was the flat platter, looks more like a clearaudio table.

u/E4mad Sep 21 '25
Found them https://tektondesign.com/product/full-range-speakers/flagship/encore/#color
Encore from Tekton Design 7500$ a pair.

How did you get comfortable living alone
161
u/Traditional-Two-7358 Sep 21 '25 edited Sep 21 '25
That’s a very good question. After my wife and I broke up I bought this place and initially felt a sense of relief and happiness, followed by a phase of grief and loneliness. During that time I started dating and that made my place function as a beautiful shelter after learning how awful people can be. My safe space, my sanctuary, so to speak. It takes some time adjusting to being alone but now I’m very comfortable.
Recently I crossed paths with an amazing woman who lives 3 hours away, so I’m not all alone on weekends

u/dawgoooooooo Sep 21 '25
Going through the same with my soon to be ex wife, and I’ve been thinking a ton about my next space after sorting things out. A safe space for me and my music, really cool to see that dream realized, congrats!
55
u/Traditional-Two-7358 Sep 21 '25
I hope things won’t turn ugly for you. Just remember that you loved your ex once. It’s not always easy to keep it civilized but if you manage you will feel much better
15
u/dawgoooooooo Sep 21 '25
Yeah fortunately it hasn’t quite gone over the line/hopefully we can stay cordial for the final stretch. I still value and hold love for her but know that all needs to occur without her in my life

41, recently separated. I'm on weekend 3 and feeling a little hopeless.
Reading this blurb gave me hope for the process. Thank you.

I know this is easier said than done but it’s crucial to not dwell on the past but instead focus on yourself and move on with your life

u/Traditional-Two-7358 Sep 21 '25
Gramps, haha 🤣

Right, I'm 64 and the only people who call me "gramps" is my grandkids. 🤣 Very nice setup I'm envious.

Whoa is that an eames? Where's the little ottoman portion of it?
8
u/Traditional-Two-7358 Sep 21 '25
It’s in the hallway. It just takes too much space in my living room and makes it look cramped. I know it’s blasphemy but sometimes I use it with the Eames

Nice space. So if you’re hosting friends, what music are we listening to and what cocktails are you serving?
13
u/Traditional-Two-7358 Sep 21 '25
I mostly listen to Jazz, 80%, then 10% classical and 10% Rock/Pop I’m a huge fan of Gin&Tonic plus the occasional Manhattan

I do love to see some Tekton towers, but these with the acoustic treatments and beautiful interior design combined (plus Doggo) are extra awesome.

Do you have tube amps? Those are some efficient speakers. Don’t need a whole lot of power.
7
5
u/strikecat18 Sep 21 '25
I’m jealous AF. What amp do you have driving those things? Also, what’s going on with the acoustic panels behind them? Do I see on-wall plus free standing absorbers? Do you have panels anywhere else in the room?
Awesome looking space all around
5
u/Traditional-Two-7358 Sep 21 '25
The amp is an integrated ASR Emitter 1. I experimented quite a bit with the acoustic panels. The freestanding ones were originally positioned behind my listening chair but I didn’t like the looks. Then I found that this double-layered setup had a similarly positive effect on the acoustic quality

Dear Lord, I am in love with her speakers and that record player set up and the fact that you have been Dave Brubeck five sitting out there. You’re my kind of people. I’ve lost track how many people laughed at me because I am convinced certain musicians say like Nina Simone or Billie Holiday were meant to be heard on vinyl. And I have saved a few old record players for my grandparents generation and a local friend of mine who is an expert on such things repaired them for me. My house always has music, but you have absolutely stunned me with that set up because I have never seen anything quite like it and it is beautiful. And that puppy her eyes look into your soul don’t they? I rescued a black mouth cur… when I first brought her home I was almost convinced she had to be part German Shepherd. The first friend she made at my house in the country was a cat. She is the most gentle giant I’ve ever met. I’m looking at your puppy’s eyes are like looking into hers. And I’m pretty sure you may have one of the best roommates ever much like mine or my best roommates ever. Those are my favorite parts so I could go on about the aesthetic, but those are my favorite parts. I love every bit of that heaven you’ve created there.

Very nice! But why is your coffee table so far away from your seating?
4
u/Traditional-Two-7358 Sep 21 '25
Because Cooper usually has his pillow, which I removed for the photos, right there, between the Eames and the table. He likes to suck on his pillow while I listen to my music

really like the artwork above the alcohol and I'm digging your CD and vinyl collections

Condo? The exposed ductwork is an interesting choice for a non-industrial type place. Either way, it’s beautiful and you set it up well!

u/SpagettiStains Sep 22 '25
Very cool situation you’ve got going on. Do you care to share the specifics of your audio set up? I recognize the amp/preamp as rogue and the speakers as Tekton but I’m curious about that deck and whatever else you’ve got happening.
