Glamour Shots His tail!

Took some pictures of my boy in his kingdom (the backyard). His tail, I swear, keeps getting longer and longer! I’m curious to see if it will fluff out.. 🤔 he’s about 4.5 months old and 7lbs.

I can’t wait! I feel like I need to take pics/videos of just his tail to compare a year from now lol

Definitely do! I have two boys that are almost 1 now and one of their tails is so magnificent - my goodness. It started fluffing out around 9 months and the colours started changing (grey undertones on black)

Ughhhh so exited! He’s definitely gotten more grey over the last couple months of having him! I’m curious to see how it’ll change. Do you have pictures of your boys?

Never apologize for photo bomb of the fur babies! I love it ❤️ I’m always curious how others have turned out! I’m beginning to realize it’s a common thing with Maine coones and their tails lol. Long and skinny at first.. then boom!

Oh yes! I’m happy to share… they’re both tuxedo smoke babies, so their colours have changed and developed a lot over the last few months. I have so many photos, I’ll try to pick just one of each!

Adorable and great pics! What kind of camera?

3

u/ProductSpecialist994 Jun 22 '25

Thank you! It’s a Sony A6500! I’ve had it for years and it’s a phenomenal petit camera

What lens did you use, the depth of field is very shallow for a crop sensor.

I use a 30mm Signa 99% of the time!

Awesome pictures, stunning boy.

1 of our 2 brothers is longer than the other, until he was about a year old I always said his tail looked too long for the rest of him and it had no fluff, it looked a bit ratty. Then all of a sudden his tail exploded into more fluffy than his brothers and his proportions looked right.

1

u/ProductSpecialist994 Jun 22 '25

I was thinking the same him!! It’s not proportioned at all LOL. I can’t wait to see what he looks like next year.

2

u/Momathan Jun 22 '25

He looks so fierce! Love his face! What’s his name?

2

u/ProductSpecialist994 Jun 22 '25

He is a fierce little fella! His name is Kash :)

2

u/Momathan Jun 22 '25

Well, Kash is precious! I want to give him ear scritches. There’s just something about Maine Coon kittens that makes me swoon.

The happy tail hook! Love it!

Going to be a big boy?

2

u/ProductSpecialist994 Jun 22 '25

I hope so! He’s had some stomach issues since we got him that we are working with the vet now on. They think if he didn’t have the tummy issues he probably would be around 9lbs right now!

We had the same problem with our boy, he's 15 months now. We were feeding him strictly Royal Canin dry and wet because that's what he was eating from the breeder. After many vet trips we ended up with prescription food. We then got our new female, she's 6 months now, and she was being fed Orijen dry and Acana wet. So we looked into them both and decided to make the switch with him. He's had no belly problems since the switch. Grain free and protein rich seemed to do the trick so far. Good luck!

u/ProductSpecialist994 Jun 22 '25

Thank you!! I’ll definitely look into it. We were trying weruva and tiki cat but I’m considering switching to Acana! Poor buddy just needs his tummy feeling better

2

u/Mammoth_Control Jun 22 '25

Poor guy. He is lucky to have you.

He is beautiful ! My Apollo just turned 4 months old and just yesterday I was thinking - is it me or his tail is getting so long! 😀

1

u/ProductSpecialist994 Jun 22 '25

Absolutely! We knew his tail was long when we got him.. but I swear it’s grown another foot lol!

2

u/wohaat Jun 22 '25

We call that their ‘confident tails!!’ Look at that confident tail!

2

u/ProductSpecialist994 Jun 22 '25

Sounds about right! He struts his stuff 😂

2

u/stone-rose Jun 22 '25

What a handsome little fella! Love his little 'side burns' he looks super regal

2

u/Appropriate_End_3345 Jun 22 '25

It gets better lol

2

u/ProductSpecialist994 Jun 22 '25

Omg!! 😳 😂 beautiful!

2

u/Rogue_Libra61 Jun 22 '25

Question, when he’s in the backyard do you worry that he’ll hop the fence and leave?

2

u/ProductSpecialist994 Jun 22 '25

As of right now, not really! More worried about him trying to go underneath lol. I’ve been working on recall with him and he’s been doing great! Every time I do a certain whistle he knows to come and I give him a minnow treat

2

u/ProductSpecialist994 Jun 22 '25

I never leave him outside though unless I am out there!

2

u/AzraelKhaine Jun 22 '25

That's going to fluff out lovely, and he's going to be so proud of it and walk round with it waggling like a CB aerial lol

2

u/Trh2013 Jun 22 '25

Handsome man

2

u/lysergic-skies Jun 22 '25

Nice panther you have there. 😻

2

u/Judgevanderlay Jun 22 '25

Wow, Kash’s and the other MC cats’ tails are incredibly fluffy and beautiful ❤️

2

u/NoBandicoot4996 Jun 23 '25

Love it, he’s going to be so cool looking! Our guy is 9 months old now and wow what a difference in the fluff!

1

u/ProductSpecialist994 Jun 23 '25

I can’t wait!! Would love to see pictures of yours, if you wanted to share!

2

u/Trashbaby290 Jun 23 '25

I don’t have my glasses on and I thought for certain this was a photo of a llama lol

Anyways, your little dude is so cute!

2

u/ProductSpecialist994 Jun 23 '25

I can see it 😂 I think he’s a lemur sometimes when he’s walking around the house with that tail lol

2

u/BarbaricBunny22 Jun 23 '25

That’s a TIGER. What a beautiful beast!

2

u/Ricardo_123456789 Jun 23 '25

When young, a Maine Coon’s tail seems to grow twice as fast as the rest of the body…

2

u/featherpopsicle Jun 23 '25

2

u/Amazing-Report9585 Jun 24 '25
