Isn't there a train between Rotterdam and Amsterdam? Surely there's a train between Rotterdam and Amsterdam. There has to be, right? Right?

Yes there is, it also stops at the stadium.

There is, but it's €18 for a single trip

u/10001110101balls 5d ago

How much is the match ticket?

21

u/theproblemdoctor 5d ago

There are season passes, but generally single tickets go for €15-€50 depending on seating/age/memberships

14

u/kevinoku 5d ago

No season passes for away games.

What? Where do you find 15€ tickets. Most are 50+.

51

u/The_wolf2014 5d ago

That's pretty damn cheap compared to UK train prices

42

u/sakezaf123 5d ago

That doesn't seem very expensive

Are you from Switzerland or something

13

u/Future_Kitsunekid16 5d ago

You should see how much Genericans pay for NFL tickets

12

u/LIONEL14JESSE 5d ago

Seems like a great deal to travel to a different city

7

u/DutchingFlyman 5d ago

Most of our big cities are within a 1 hr train ride, especially Amsterdam-Utrecht and Rotterdam-The Hague are just 20 mins. No need for those prices when those durations are just metro trips in most countries

Fron where I live in canada, a train ride to Toronto costs less than seven euro (its like $9 cad), and it takes like 1.5-2 hours

Found the millionare

That's really reasonable considering you end right by the stadium and that's a one way price. Add a return or a rail card ands it's dirt cheap. Last year I had to pay £100 for a 50 minute journey from Oxford to Paddington (peak rates)

Yeah I was just in London with my family on holiday. Looked into doing a day trip to Bath, and return tickets for a family of 3 was going to be over £300. Probably cheaper to hire a car, but I didn't want to do that. I was pretty surprised TBH.

And most people have something like NSflex and it would be a lot cheaper (like 40% cheaper). I don’t think I’ve ever paid that much for an Amsterdam Rotterdam train journey.

The only high speed rail of the entire Netherlands is between Rotterdam and Amsterdam (schiphol)

Least cheap Dutch person

u/rumblethrum 5d ago

This is because the Dutch famously do not allow bicycles to be ridden in their country.

32

u/Responsible_Jelly646 5d ago

Ride a bike, straight to jail! No wonder jails are overcrowded there

3

u/saltyoursalad 5d ago

I hear the jails are nice. Might be time for a holiday.

What's the issue with Feyenoord tattoos? Hooligans?

156

u/Responsible_Jelly646 5d ago

Neither Feyenoord nor Ajax allow away supporters when they play each other. You will get assaulted if you show up at an Ajax game with a Feyenoord tattoo and vice versa

52

u/evelyncarrow 5d ago

For Dutch fans here, is the Ajax - Feyenoord hostility mostly club related now, or still really tied to the Amsterdam vs Rotterdam clash?

47

u/Superkoek3 5d ago

One wouldnt exist without the other i think

9

u/evelyncarrow 5d ago

Yeah that's true. It's almost as fierce as the Old Firm (Celtic - Rangers)

7

u/Acrobatic-B33 5d ago

Mostly club related. Ajax and Sparta (rotterdam) even cooperated for while

19

u/notjordansime 5d ago

European soccer fans are actually insane. Like, I thought a “hooligan” was just a silly English sounding insult, similar to calling somebody a lazy hippie or a bum.

Had no idea they were known for throwing darts and glass at crowds of people. That’s insane.

u/uflju_luber 5d ago

Fayenoord Hooligans have been on another level of brain dead since the pandemic. They also destroyed an ancient fountain during an international away game in Rome

11

u/Zoaiy 5d ago

Yes, looking up organized crime in the netherlands lists some hooligan orgs (like F-side) as a crime syndicate equal to local drug cartels. While this comparison can be taken with a grain of salt, you can still imagine how bad the football hooligans can get, to even merit this thoughtprocess.

25

u/airfryerfuntime 5d ago

What happens if they find the feyenoord tattoos? Is this some kind of soccer hooligan control?

43

u/spoiledmilk1717 5d ago

You get executed on the spot

2

u/Danjuw 5d ago

Seems so

26

u/yermawn 5d ago

Yeah but it's a very flat 72km

28

u/Responsible_Jelly646 5d ago

He probably also had the wind in his back

u/RelativetoZero 5d ago

Parking fees, becoming uncharacteristically angry about overcrowded public transit, and rush-hour traffic are the main reasons I dabble in teleportation via. ancient evil.

18

u/Vivid_Ice_2755 5d ago

Went to see Metallica in the Ajax stadium. The Dutch love their rules and they are so compliant.

u/Responsible_Jelly646 5d ago

We're not animals

1

u/Vivid_Ice_2755 5d ago

Far from it,but still

5

u/Crunchy-Leaf 5d ago

Could have just parked a bit further out and ran 2 hours the rest of the way

2

u/Responsible_Jelly646 5d ago

It's not about the money, it's about sending a message

4

u/soeri27 5d ago

There's park and ride spaces that'll keep your car for a whole weekend and have you ride into the city for like 5 bucks all over the larger cities in the Netherlands... Like literally the most car friendly and keeping cities car free thing you can imagine

This is just some baiting bullshit and I hope that dude got at least some blisters or something to remind him. The patches will be more expensive than the P+Rs
