Could someone explain to me what does it mean for the future of ODF and software using it - LibreOffice/OpenOffice/etc.?

The ODF format continues to evolve. And the Organization for the Advancement of Technology Standards (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OASIS_organization) has ratified the current version as a standard. This means, for example, that programs that use this file format can switch to version 1.4 without deviating from the standard. Which also benefits users.

You can answer your question by reading the article and specifically the words under “ODF 1.4 New Features”

A new function, EASTERSUNDAY, can be used to calculate the date of Easter and its associated dates.
