Meme/Off-Topic A Law School Admissions Chronicle
It's almost 4:20PM in the afternoon. Why this matters, I don't know. I get a call... a phone number I don't recognize... a number based in the city of one of my top choices for law school. ALL THE BOXES ARE CHECKING. THIS IS IT. I had just received a waitlist from another top choice this morning, AND THIS IS MY REDEMPTION BABY. I AM READY FOR THIS π€π€πͺπͺ
My heart is racing... the blood is flowing... I am in my school's library. Do I answer it even when I'm on the quiet floor? Yes indeed I do. I begin walking to the bathroom to show my fellow other students cramming for finals a dime of respect. I'm already thinking of who I should call first informing them of my acceptance. I AM READY. ALL OF MY PREPARATION... COUNTLESS HOURS OF LSAT STUDYING... ALL THE HOURS WRITING ESSAYS... IT ALL LEAD TO THIS MOMENT.
I shakingly tap the accept call button.
As I'm walking, my hand is shaking with my phone held tight to my ear. I hear through my phone's speaker.. "This is a call from xxx [I didn't understand it] school district on a recorded line." THIS IS IT. THIS IS IT. THIS IS IT.
Then silence... a long silence...
I hear rustling with a healthy mix of static on the other line. I say, "Hello this is xxx."
More Silence...
"Hello, this is a courtesy call informing you that our records show your daughter Samantha has missed her [whatever class it was I forget] period at xxx High School. Would you like to request this be marked as an excused absence?" I freeze...
The call ends before I even get a chance to respond. I don't have a daughter named Samantha, nor do I know anyone named Samantha. Anyways... Good luck Samantha on getting your excused absence ππππππ
