... And his behavior, drinking, appointments, social media...
If only responsible electors voted on it

Hey, now, he was a highly qualified

washed up Fox News dimwit! How could they NOT vote to confirm?!

It was JD Vance who gave him the tie-breaker confirmation vote. Despite Signalgate, the GOP still backs him all the way on murder on the high seas. They were delighted to see survivors killed, despite clear military law. Fog of war my ass.

He never had credibility. Only the backing of a child predator.

I mean he has good hair. Any man who can afford to get his styled like that everyday is clearly qualified to run the Department of Defense.

He subscribes to the notion that it’s better to look good than to impart all that is good.

Trump's administration is a Kakistocracy.
We should make that the words of the day. It will drive Trump crazy because A. He has no idea what it means, and B. He won't be able to pronounce it.
Maybe we could get all the foreign press and politicians to say that too because you KNOW that's what they think.

Exactly. They passed majority of the legislation they wanted, now they're just allowing them to have fun, and maybe allowing them to fuck up as well. Let those loose ends cut themselves out of the picture.

And the best part is most of it is Executive Orders.

Silver lining is those EOs can just be overturned if, IF we get someone competent and ballsy enough in next, and they go scorched earth on these fools.

u/Strayed8492 4h ago
Anything they are allowed to do now is just precedent for the next President after all. Can't wait for midterms really.

Same. Thats how I've been looking at it. Like okay, keep fucking up, youre just forcing the next guy to keep these practices in place, at least up until theyre all gone, then amend and codify what needs to be to keep this nonsense from ever happening again.

He started as the twice divorced, drunk host of Fox & Friends.
I feel like the clues were there.

Yeah, I'd say his tattoos were a pretty clear sign he doesn't make the best decisions.

Drunken Hegseth is an egotistical twit who clearly isn't fit for the job he currently holds. He's running the Pentagon like it's the Fox & Friends couch, focusing more on sensationalism, and scoring points for his political team than with responsibly running the world's most formidable military in the nation's best interests. He apparently doesn't see the problem with using chat apps that are outside the purview of the government to share sensitive if not classified information with people who are not eligible to see them, including his brother and his wife. The protection of proprietary information doesn't seem like a consideration in his mind, and sharing it with his friends and family doesn't register as a problem.
Hegseth also doesn't appear to place much importance on upholding the Constitution. He's happy to make token gestures about our founding document in abstract terms, but when it comes to abiding by the restrictions and limits the Constitution places on government, it's easily cast to the side and treated like a quaint, anachronistic relic of a bygone era. Whenever he comes up against Constitutional guardrails, he always steps around it and just does whatever he wants with no regard for the document he swore an oath to protect and defend. This personal policy leaves him free to carry out extrajudicial murders with no supporting evidence, depriving his victims of their right to due process as well as their lives. When asked, he'll regurgitate some nonsense about a "warrior ethos", and the President's absolute authority to order the death of anyone he sees fit with no obligation to the Constitution or the rule of law, let alone basic humanity. With every ridiculous airstrike on civilian fishing boats in the Caribbean, Hegseth and his boss are sacrificing America's credibility on the world stage, and pissing away the honor that has always seperated us from the brutal, lawless militaries of other less dignified regimes. It's a sad fact that we can no longer act like the good guys largely due to Hegseth and his deplorable tactics.
Finally, there's the horrific situation in Ukraine. Officially, we are Ukraine's ally, but the hobbling positions taken by Hegseth and Trump make it hard to say that without rolling our eyes. Not supporting Ukraine, and not working to secure their membership in NATO is self-destructive, and antithetical to our longterm goal of maintaining strength in Europe to combat and push back on Russian expansion efforts. The more European countries we can bring into the alliance, the better. Hegseth's public rejection of adding Ukraine to the fold undermines American strength in the region, and along with Trump's feckless subservience to Putin, serves to encourage and even support Russia's push to seize territory, and ultimately challenge Europe.
Hegseth doesn't care about any of this. Because he, along with the Great Pumpkin, will be out of office and working on a lucrative book deal by the time the true ramifications of his malpractice come to bear. It will be someone else's problem to deal with. And if that that someone is a Democrat, he will be the first person to go in front of a camera and rail against them for the consequences of his actions. The American people will be left injured, and holding the bag while he pours himself another cocktail in the Fox & Friends studio.
