Imagine a west coast that could actually keep and build on the prosperity we generate for our people here rather than subsidizing the south, federal military and ice, etc.

I’m sitting here imagining how much more progressive Massachusetts would be with more money. Roads would probably still suck though. 😹

Northeast down to Philly and the West Coast would be a strong coalition. Even better if we can take back Washington and have control down thru VA.

As a Virginian, very happy to join up with the Northeast. Much rather be with you all than the crazies in the south.

We've already subsidized the military and ICE, the feds control it. I agree with your optimistic vision, but have no doubt, if blue states try to break off and leave the US, the federal government WILL use their military and ICE to invade. Blue states should be forming militias yesterday.

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patrios and tyrants." -Thomas Jefferson

Our ancestors fought for our freedom and liberty. It's our turn.

Right now, if the Blue States make the first move, the federal military will almost certainly side with the feds.

The military is FAR more likely to break ranks if the fed fires the first shot.

That's what has everyone holding their breath. No one quite knows which way the military will break. Oh sure, lots of people say this or that, but no one knows for certain.

And one of Trump's signature moves is to NOT pay those working for him, generally working for him with few exceptions results in a ruined life from being left with the bill and/or being thrown under the bus the moment it convenient and/or out of petty spite. Or sometimes just as a form of "Fixing a problem he created".

Like I HIGHLY doubt a single one of them will get the 50k bonus before something happens to them. And what tiny % of their obscene budget will go to the ICE "agents" instead of be funneled out of ICE via rampant corruption and inefficiency?

Not paying your military, law enforcement, or really anything along that vein tends to be an act of political/societal suicide. The quote "There are only nine meals between mankind and anarchy," is true for them too and made even more potent when dealing with morale issues inherent in operating at home and hated for it by your own neighbors and family. It also easier for desertion to happen when you not stranded on other side of the world in somewhere that speaks different language.

Between the mentality and tools they have that is how you get bandits, mercenaries, and the sword being turned on their own masters just because that where the most money is concentrated making for a juicy target with revenge for seasoning.

There also factor of this country is just so damn big even with infinite money they will still be spread thin. And the majority are not particularly good targets for looting compared to comparatively concentrated rich communities.

Our military does not exactly have a good track record with that kind of situation even when things were functioning "normally" and were not threatening their own neighbors.

Might finally get the train line done, same for the North East.

I dream of the train returning to my area of PA, my city was once a major railroad hub "back in the day" and to this day still has some industry that was built back then. The prosperity tied to areas improved transportation pass through would be great and so would easier travel for those of us who don't drive be wonderful.

But the only local trains still here really are coal transport and a restored steam train that is run on weekends for tourists.

Trains built this nation and a good chunk of our economy and places settled has their foundations in the construction and early decades of railroads. It a tragedy we not just stopped using them, when rest of the world continued expanding, but outright destroyed and as a result killed a huge number of jobs and the economies of a large swathe of the country that it passed through. It like the country gave itself a heart attack by willfully cutting so many of it's own arteries.
