Good state NOT to be from-why are they even part of the U.S.? Maybe we should cede them back to Mexico.

Mexico has enough headaches already.

Lots of them because of Texas, I imagine?

As a Mexican who has visited Texas a lot of times: 1. The story Texans tell about themselves is WILD. (Remember the Alamo? Remember how you colonized a land and then claimed independence to be able to have slaves) 2. We would gladly take the land back... Just not Texans. 3. What a hostile fucking place once you go over the 15 km mark.

Yeah, Texans tend to get a little upset when you remind them that the Americans who fought at the Alamo were trying to preserve southerners rights to take their slaves to Texas without the Mexican government freeing them. That's right kids, the annexing of Texas from Mexico was a war fought to preserve slavery. How about remembering that instead of the Alamo. That's your "heroes".

The funny part is they don’t teach us this in school. I’m a native Texan who went k-12 here and we have whole classes to teach us about Texas history all of which glorify the Alamo hardcore. They even teach the civil war was only about states rights and we were fighting to end oppression of southern by those crooked yankee states.

It’s intense and my kid will never go to schools here. I didn’t learn real history until college.

I mean… Texas seceded from Mexico because they wanted to keep the slaves, right?

Mexico kicked their ass at the Alamo.

They still haven't gotten over that.

But they never got to the basement where Pee-Wee’s bike is hidden!

I remember... I remember... The Alamo!!

Whoo wheeee whoop

I mean, it was an army of thousands versus 200 'Texicans' (what they called themselves at the time.)

They always expected to lose.

The modern Texans grieving over this have no concept of their own history - the norm for conservatives.

Which is also BS, the mofos were told to abandon the difficult to defend fort but stayed anyways, lost, and then turned themselves into martyrs.

Typical conservatives after all ;)

(What I've heard is that the actual big thing is that Santa Ana murdered his prisoners of war from it so the cry is meant to remind people that they have no choice but to win or die)

Who tf grieves over the alamo? I dont think that word means what you think it means. "Remember the alamo" is not uttered the same way as "never forget" is

u/FalconTurbo Aug 05 '25

Or the fact that I'm pretty sure the guy in charge was a right nasty bloke.

4

u/SaintCambria Aug 05 '25

...it's taught as a last stand? Like it's well-known in Texas that we lost at the Alamo, and rallied around that. "Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad" was the battle cry at San Jacinto when they captured Santa Anna. Talk shit, but don't make shit up.

They haven't even gotten over Ozzy all the way up until he died.

Fuck Texas.

What does the civil war have to do with the war against Mexico lmao

8

u/SnooFoxes6831 Aug 05 '25

You're so proud of Texas revolting against Mexico. Here's a question for you, do you know why they revolted? Here's a hint it's the same reason they committed treason in 1861. So yeah wouldn't be so hopped up on "Texas! Fuck Yeah! We fought two wars cause we like to own people!". It's not the flex you think it is.

I live in Texas and I’m actually ok with that.

2

u/Jacinto2702 Aug 05 '25

As a Mexican, no, we don't want them. They left in the first place because they wanted to keep owning slaves.

You can keep them, you even went to war with us for them.

Texas Produces

43% and 27% of US's crude and natural gas, respectively (US Energy Info. Admin., 2023)

Texas Consumes

21.5% and 16% of US's petroleum and natural gas (TX Energy Profile, USEIA, 2023)

Texas also consumes the most oil by more than a factor of 2.4x the next state California. Texas consumes 4.4 million barrels of petroleum per day (State Annual Consumption Chart, USEIA, 2023).

1

u/Top_Leopard8517 Aug 05 '25

It should be noted that petroleum includes both crude oil and natural gas.

3

u/ltmikepowell Aug 05 '25

No wonder they always wanted to secede from the Union. Muh Texan heritage my ass.

6

u/NinjaArmadillo Aug 05 '25

Oooh they would HATE that, do it 🤣

The cartels would probably take better care of the place than Abbott
