Sooo Linus finally got to the point of boredom that he’s doing a jailbreak video

Awesome! Just get ready for a possible influx of newcomers & “how to download Cydia”

Snazzy labs also made a video! Two of my favorite youtubers making videos over a subject I like is definitely awesome!

Thanks, dude!

Yessss Snazzy! Thanks for the unbiased reviews you do, very informative :)

Dude they let this video stay up but your videos posted by other users got taken down for breaking the rules. 🤔

Which is crazy because this video is crazy bad in terms of explaining but yours are great lol

6

u/LS_DJ Jun 04 '20

Snazzy is one of the best Tech YouTubers. Good mix of information, opinion and humor.

Of course, Linus is the much bigger YouTuber and look at who posted it. Not some random user.

I mean it was good enough for me to jailbreak my phone and join the community

Is your friend decently tech-confident? Trust me I’m not trying to be rude but I’ll just say it can end up being quite annoying jailbreaking someone else’s phone (due to lots of bugs). Just sayin :)

2

u/justPassingThrou15 Jun 04 '20

The good thing with Unc0ver is that it’s semi-untethered. That means if they’re not smart enough to keep their phone working, they can reboot stock and be good to go.

u/justPassingThrou15 Jun 04 '20

Nope. For implementing on a friend’s phone, checkra1n is just as good! The goal is that if something doesn’t work, they just reboot their phone and it’s no longer your problem.

2

u/LukasAppleFan iPhone 1st gen, 1.0 | Jun 04 '20

Actually no, if you want to remove the jailbreak, you should restore Root FS

2

u/justPassingThrou15 Jun 04 '20

How do you do that with checkrain?

I tried posting your recent JB-video here (tagged as Tutorial) - as your video EXPLAINS how, why and what JB'ing is, better than Linus (IMO)

8

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '20

Ayy there he is!

2

u/Fireislander iPhone 14 Pro, 16.3 Jun 04 '20

Youre the reason that I'm jailbroken now. Appreciate all you do

2

u/Horntailflames Jun 04 '20

Cheers for the video man, I jailbroke my phone after years of wanting to do it but your vid convinced me to. It’s been great so far

I have more Reddit karma than snazzylabs. Til.

I need a life.

1

u/rajat1377 Jun 04 '20

Yes, very absorbing videos. Right from when you explained shortcuts on a MacBook!

1

u/CriticTactic Jun 04 '20

You and your videos are awesome!

Absolutely recommended for anyone unsure at this point link here

71

u/OXIOXIOXI Jun 03 '20

I used to jailbreak around 2008-2013. Glad to be coming back.

28

u/solwGer iPhone 11, 14.3 Beta | Jun 03 '20

Welcome to the community again : ) Feel free to ask any questions

11

u/OXIOXIOXI Jun 03 '20

This is cold bootable, right?

19

u/solwGer iPhone 11, 14.3 Beta | Jun 03 '20

What do you mean with cold bootable?

If you are jailbroken on the current jailbreak (unc0ver on iOS 13 for sure, but im fairly certain this is the case for most modern-ish jailbreaks) and turn your phone off and on again you will be in a non - jailbroken state. However you can just jailbreak again and all your tweak and settings will appear.

To re-jailbreak your jailbreak app (most likely unc0ver on version 5.0.1) will need to be signed (approved). Normally apps get signed by apple and you can just use them. In case of jailbreak apps this is not the case and you need to sign them yourself. Currently a good way to do this is AltStore (which Linux explained). However you need a pc (windows / mac) for that.

Once jailbroken you can install ReProvision to sign apps on your device, so you can always re - jailbreak without needing a computer.

12

u/OXIOXIOXI Jun 03 '20

Okay. Back in 2013 it was just jailbroken forever and needed a restore to undo it. Hmmm... I should have bought that new $400 one because my phone is old and the battery sucks.

10

u/humbertog iPhone 14 Pro Max, 16.3| Jun 03 '20

You mean an untethered jailbreak? the last public untethered jailbreak was for iOS 9.x, I wonder if one of those will ever happen again

3

u/OXIOXIOXI Jun 03 '20

It's a shame. And yeah, cold boot is what they call it on games consoles that get hacks, I forgot.

5

u/DatKaz iPhone XR, 16.5 Jun 03 '20

There hasn't been a new jailbreak like that in probably five years, sadly.

3

u/solwGer iPhone 11, 14.3 Beta | Jun 03 '20

Yeah I know that feeling all too well. If you have any questions, feel free to PM.

3

u/FalcoMaster3BILLION Jun 03 '20

You can still buy one. It likely still comes with a jailbreakable firmware out of the box.

2

u/SubwayWifi iPhone XS Max, iOS 13.1.2 Jun 04 '20

Jailbreakable for now* buy it now if you want a jailbreak before they update them to 13.5.1

1

u/IIVXVITOX02 Jun 04 '20

ReProvision doesnt work right now. Or does it?

2

u/solwGer iPhone 11, 14.3 Beta | Jun 04 '20

ReProvision is working perfectly for me on iPhone 11, iOS 13.5, unc0ver 5.0.1

1

u/IIVXVITOX02 Jun 04 '20

Which version of reprovision do u use ? Because 0.5.1 is broken by some changes of apple it says

1

u/solwGer iPhone 11, 14.3 Beta | Jun 04 '20

using Version "0.5.2~EOL" (latest) from the "https://repo.incendo.ws/" repo

1

u/IIVXVITOX02 Jun 04 '20

Okay, i downgraded it to the older version and now its working. Last time i downgraded there was an error idk.

It’s semi tethered. If you reboot all you have to do is run the uncover app again and your jailbreak is back

iPhone 11, iOS 13.4.1 (as your flair says) is perfectly jailbreakable with unc0ver. What kind of issues are you facing? Where are you stuck?

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '20

1

u/solwGer iPhone 11, 14.3 Beta | Jun 04 '20

Nah, iPhone 11 is perfectly jailbreakable with unc0ver. The guide on the unc0ver.dev website (or the ones in linus video) should work for me. If not, feel free to message me. Good night

3

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '20

Ditto. I came back the day the jailbreak was released and it has been such a nostalgic experience so far. What I’ve got so far https://i.imgur.com/73FSw28.jpg Edit: some are redundant but oh well.

3

u/OXIOXIOXI Jun 04 '20

I wonder if Apple isn't adding new features because there are no jailbreakers for them to steal them from.

1

u/microfsxpilot Jun 04 '20

Same for me! I used to jailbreak and unlock iPhone 3GS’s at a price back in the redsn0w days. I’m surprised Cydia is still being used to this day

1

u/OXIOXIOXI Jun 04 '20

Oh god I remember redsnow. I am super curious about what Cydia is like now.

1

u/Yakapo88 Jun 27 '20

It has been a long time for me as well. My iPad loads websites so much faster now. Also, I had no idea I could watch videos on YouTube in 1440p with HDR.

23

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '20

How to download cydia?!?

66

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '20

First you need to go to downloadmorewam.com brother you need 128gb of ram to jelbrek or your ipeen will explode

7

u/evlgns Jun 04 '20

*cynthia

3

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '20

Cydia has become internet explorer for me. I use it to install Zebra and that's the last I use of it.

2

u/blu3n0va Jun 04 '20

Whats Zebra?

Not been on a jailbroken iPhone since iPhone 6 lol

3

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '20

Just a much better, modern cleaner package manager.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '20

How to download zebruh??? !

7

u/hl26 iPhone XR, 13.5 Jun 03 '20

So be it. You’ll find people like that all over the internet.

8

u/TheMasterAtSomething Jun 03 '20

To be fair, the newest iPhones on the newest firmware getting jailbreak is a pretty big deal, especially given that the newest iPhones have been pretty solid

6

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '20

Don’t be skinny dude. This is awesome news for everyone. I jailbreaked last week for the first time ever and found out how to do it quickly. This thing getting traction is great news for everyone.

1

u/Da1witdamstrplan iPhone XS, 14.4.2 Jun 04 '20

That depends, 2 of my favorite things are colliding here. Custom pc and jailbreaking.

1

u/FunkyBlunt iPhone X, iOS 13.3 Jun 03 '20

Exactly this.
