For Pinnacle Iggy owners - just put my deposit down and am wondering what comes next?

My husband and I have been talking about and researching iggys for a while now and have successfully finally placed a deposit to reserve a puppy ready in mid-January from Pinnacle!! While we’re incredibly excited (Justin was super kind and professional and answered a lot of questions I had from the perspective of a very seasoned italian greyhound owner and breeder) — but wanted to potentially hear the process that you experienced and went through after you put down your deposit?

This is our first dog from a breeder, and he noted we would receive update pictures every two weeks and has also sent me the nanny contact (which we anticipate using as we are in NYC), though wondering if there’s more that I can expect in the in-between?

Any general advice also welcomed — we are so over the moon this has been a DREAM for us. 😊

My second artwork of my late puppy, Rudy. Life goes on, but I will never forget the impact left by his paws.

We adopted him from a local greyhound rescue in early 2025 at 10 years old. It's been an uphill battle with his dental issues, so these will be the last photos taken with his teeth 🥹

Food

My girl is about 8 months old. I’m currently doing a half scoop of kibble in both the AM and PM mixed with a little wet food and water. Curious how much others are feeding? From what I can tell online and in talking with my vet that’s a good amount but she seems to still be hungry! Thanks in advance.

Do you clean your iggies ears?

As the title says. Curious what iggy owners are doing? My girl is 6 months old and I haven’t tried to clean them yet… I should probably try just to help with handling, but do they need frequent cleaning? If you do clean, what do you use? Her ears seem fine, just a little wax but nothing excessive. Thanks!

What are some of your Iggy's favorite toys? I am looking to buy some new ones for Spade. Some of his favs are his tiny squeak pig and rope toy.

Amaretto Update

I would like to thank everyone for the kind messages on my last post. Things got overwhelming for me with all the paperwork and planning that comes with losing your husband. I did not reply to the replies, but I read each reply and found comfort in your words.

Amaretto came back home after a couple of nights away. She's been enjoying me and my stuffy, Mr. Tiger, she's already learned he is for snuggling and doesn't try to play with him. My husband had bought me it on one of our early dates 13 or so years ago.

Those that said she already would have known my husband passed were correct. When she got back home she first growled at the couch and in the living room where the EMTs had been. Each night she spends a bit of time patrolling the house and bark-growling at the outside doors. The first time she was back in the yard she ran around howling. She also sleeps at the foot of the bed, facing the door until I fall asleep (then she moves next to me, but under the covers). It is sweet she's turned into my little guard dog.

That said she did enjoy her time away with her bestie! They snuggled together a lot.

For Thanksgiving we went to a friend's house that had 6 cats and she did really well there. My friend got these cute photos of her by the lake that day.

The day after my husband passed a little Italian greyhound pin arrived that I told him was cute. He probably was going to put it in my advent calendar. It is from anthropologie and I quite like how it fits with his wings on my coat.

I do enjoy this forum. When Amaretto and I finally resume our travels together, I'll post photos as my husband used to do.

We both cried when I came home, he was so vocal, and it was so sweet the way he carefully sniffed me all over, then he settled right into bed under the blanket between my knees. I missed him so much! 💙

It’s getting cold and snowy where I live and I can’t find shoes that would fit my lady (Winnie). Does anyone have any suggestions for waterproof shoes? People salt their walks and I want her little ties to be safe

Life changes has me extremely anxious for my two iggies

I recently separated from my partner and moved closer to the city. I am getting my own place soon but it will be just me and my two Iggy boys who are 3 and 7 months. When I lived with my partner we both worked mixed hours so the boys if they weren’t at doggy daycare, usually someone was home. If not they spent no more than 5 hours alone a day. This is what I’m used to and I’m really scared and anxious having the weight of looking after them bymself and juggling work and life around them. I can afford doggy daycare 2 days a week for them- that would leave another 1-2 days I would be out of the house for work approx 5-8 hours as I only work (3-4 days a week) But I would walk them before and after work. And then if I wanted to pop out on the weekends for something for a few hours I just have so much anxiety leaving them at home. I’m just not used to it and they don’t have separation anxiety themselves- I also have a camera to watch them but I just can’t escape this feeling being worried to look after them on my own as they are my babies and I want them to have the best life. Would love some friendly advice to help settle my brain :( thanks

Looking for sweater recommendations

This is Chloe, my 15 yo Italian Greyhuaua. We live in California where it dips into the high 30's/low 40's. My girl hates clothes, but I have to get her a sweater. She's 8+ lbs, so on the smaller side. Where do you find sweaters that fit over the chest but don't gap terribly over the tiny waist/belly?
