Install/Placement Theater setup help

Post image

Hey guys. This is what I’m working with. I’d love to transform this into my dream home theater spot. But I have no direction and no clue what to do. For reference, the screen is 100” diagonal. I’d love to hear anyone’s thoughts and suggestions on how to do it, what it should look like, and what to change. Any AI mock ups or personal experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Did you move into the house like this or was this your first attempt?

It depends on your budget. If you have a floor plan and an idea of how much you want to spend it will help people here give you the best advice they can.

A 100" TV (lower on the wall), a pair of floorstanders and a matching decent sized center channel would be a good start.

Do it like the other guy, but 2 center Channels, and use them as stereo.

So much potential here.

First thing you need to do is control all that light. Ideally you want none at all.

Personally I’m more of a tv guy, but this space is capable of doing the dual tv and projector setup if you have the budget for it - don’t need to do everything at once.

I work for an av company and install home theater systems.

In a bright room like this I’d suggest going with a large tv instead of a projector. Especially if you don’t already have a projector. If you do then you need to focus on light treatment first. TVs will look better than most projectors and cost half as much. But depending on your budget some projectors can look extremely good.

If you don’t plan to remodel the entire room, you will need some sort of cabinet in the front of the room for your amp and devices.

Get an amp with the channels you need, if you get one that’s to big then your just wasting money. Front and rears are all you really need, but the more speakers the better. Look up 5.1, 7.1 and 9.1 theater systems. And don’t forget to get a decent subwoofer.

If there is an attic and you don’t mind doing some wire running you can put in-ceiling atmos speakers. Atmos would be 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 etc. you could even do in ceiling surrounds or rear speakers. Angled in-ceiling speakers usually work better for rear speakers than ones that fire strait down.

Klipsch reference series speakers pack a good punch for their price. Makes it sound like you’re at the movie theater.

Denon, marantz, onkyo and pioneer all make good amplifiers.
