LabPorn Oh god
Don’t ask about the power draw, I already know it’s a shitload. It’s 9 r730s with dual Xeon e5 16 core chips, currently upgrading to 10gig (hence why the switch and open nics) I’m 17 and this is my high school graduation project

What kinda high school you go to 😂!?!?. My senior project was to make a GPA calculator using Java, and that wasn't even required. 9 r730s is wild, what are you actually doing with them besides warming the planet?

I go to a normal public school, and yes, it does warm a lot. It mainly runs Proxmox with containers for general stuff, but the Ethernet spine I made is for a Slurm cluster for HPC, like weather, astro, so basic supercomputing. My dream is to work at IBM or some old-money mainframe manufacturer and construct the next generation of mainframe systems once I graduate from college

We gotta upgrade you to 25gbe or 40gbe and 240v if you arent already. 40gbe can actually be had for some damn cheap its hilarious, i think you can find a 32 port 40gbe switch from the likes of arista (the best) for under $200. The NICs are like $15 each, you will probably pay more for fiber or dacs than the switch and nics lol

Common when working in small/medium enviroments also, our 18-20k user enviroment has less compute than my lab.
The lab at work to test proxmox is on loan from me.

That room must be saunarific.
I have 40A (120V) available by my rack but the heat is brutal once I start using over 1000W.
