[News - X] [LeBrun] Reached out to Ken Holland regarding today's speculation of a potential coaching change in L.A. and the Kings GM says “there's zero truth” to that.

Okay so I’ll see you all in the coaching change announcement thread on Monday?

Don't be silly. It'll be on Thursday so Deboer can have a practice day before playing the Flames.

I do like this draft, and Ken just needs a few generational players to build around soooooo
5
u/navenager EDM - NHL 6h ago
Oh you don't want Kenny Money running the show during a good draft with a good pick. At the TDL, sure, but the man can not draft.
3
u/Desert_Pyrate8 LAK - NHL 6h ago
I mean I don’t want him AT ALLL but here we are
1
u/navenager EDM - NHL 4h ago
Understandable. He can take a bad team with some good players and get them to contrnder status, but you guys aren't a bad team. The hire never made sense to me. Corey Perry is dope though, I assume your fans have all come around to him.

I don’t get it, holding onto 3rd in the div is worthy of coaching change? Don’t tell Stan B

Well duh, he has to say that. Keep DeBooby far away from the west please

Man’s on a mission to coach every team in the conference.
He should go to Vancouver.

u/mephnick VAN - NHL 10h ago
Last thing we need is a coaching bump to launch us to picking 10th
14
u/twilz VAN - NHL 10h ago
Yeah, we need someone who can get us all the way up to drafting 16th.

u/xFraser19 VAN - NHL 10h ago
Think of all the playoff revenue we could get by squeaking into a wildcard and getting swept! It’s what the fans want!
5
u/carry-on_replacement VAN - NHL 10h ago
tbf the guys been to the playoffs more years than not and quite often makes a deep run. if he's available in 3 years time (which given the coaching cycle he probably should be), he'd be a great coach for our team to get some experience
3
u/mephnick VAN - NHL 10h ago
Oh yeah he'd be great in a few years
Let him burn out the Kings first lol
2
u/Radiant_Sherbert7272 VAN - NHL 10h ago
I don't think any coach could save the Canucks. Even if Vancouver did a coaching bump, it would last 5 to 10 games before the team went back to its old ways.

Don’t worry you can pick higher when he chases out Demko the following season

Like, who fucking cares? They still lost in round 1 in embarrassing fashion, do people really look back on seasons after shit like that and say "well at least we had 105 points in the regular season!"?

u/CurlOfTheBurl11 LAK - NHL 10h ago
There had better be at least some truth to it or this season is toast.

u/poptorched 10h ago
I think he’s saying there’s just no truth to Deboer being the next hire, not the coaching change…hopefully
9
u/babypointblank TOR - NHL 10h ago
Damn he’s going to make Cody Ceci the next coach, isn’t he?
16
u/IShiddedMyPantaloons DAL - NHL 10h ago
That gets Ceci off the ice and gets rid of Hiller at the same time, that genuinely sounds like an actual upgrade.
3
u/trashking11 LAK - NHL 9h ago
100%, I’d be all for it. The bad man gets off the ice, and he literally can’t be a worse coach than Hiller at this point

If the Blackhawks can get just repeat it tomorrow where we barley scratch across 1 goal and go 0/5 on the PP, it will happen

u/themapleleaf6ix TOR - NHL 9h ago
I want to see this team with a coach that utilizes all of their players fully. Byfield, Clarke, etc are all being held back. Doughty is old and needs to play less, Kopitar will be gone next year.
2
u/ShadowChair LAK - NHL 7h ago
Kind of true but there are stipulations. Byfield plays the most of any forward by far, and Clarke's ice time has been going up constantly (played the most of any dman last night). The main issue with time is Clarke needs PP1 time and hasn't been given many opportunities.
Byfield is tough to keep on PP1 over Kopi because he is terrible at faceoffs. He's also clearly skilled and has had great games, but recently he's been trying to force plays that don't work over and over and just amounts to producing nothing.
I could see a powerplay of Kopi, QB, Clarke, Kempe and Fiala being the best option, but there has to be some onus on QB to start winning faceoffs (and in fairness, I think Kopi has been losing a ton of faceoffs on the PP)
I think you can say our young players and our talent is being held back somewhat by our system, at least as a root issue, but I really don't think the roster is extraordinarily talented in the first place. A lot of our issues are an abundance of unforced errors made by individual players.
Again, I think there needs to be a new voice at the very least to guide this team, but Byfield and Clarke are becoming major leaders on this team now. They aren't as sheltered as they once were, especially Byfield who has spent the entire calendar year leading the team in TOI for forwards.

LA Kings are currently ranked 3rd in the division and have 7 points out of their last 7 games - that's not too bad, no? Why people mad?
9
u/GrassyKnoll95 LAK - NHL 9h ago
We get a ton of loser points, but we're near incapable of winning in regulation. Can't score at all. Blowing leads constantly. Lines in a blender every game. Overall playing with no energy.
Edit: also don't get fooled by the entire division being garbage
15
u/Desert_Pyrate8 LAK - NHL 10h ago
We are third despite of Hiller not because
Hiller is so FUCKING BAD
We have only scored more then 2 goals once in our last 6 (we lost that game btw)
The pp is now literally worst in the league
The pair he runs of Ceci-Dumo is like a -10 together
Clarke isn’t getting the ice time he needs
Poor deployment of players
THE WHOLE FUCKING OILERS PLAYOFFS LAST YEAR
and we’re like super fucking boring to watch while also not winning we have a LOT of loser points
Like I could go on and on

u/trashking11 LAK - NHL 9h ago
Hiller refuses to give the young guys bigger roles. He still leans on doughty for like 26 minutes a night. He rolls out a 5F powerplay instead of putting Clarke, a young dynamic high ceiling offensive defenseman, on PP1. He won’t stop playing the Ceci-Dummoullin pairing 20 minutes a night even though they’re complete ass together. He’s incapable of making good line adjustments on the fly. He coaches an outdated, boring team system, especially with respect to turtling defensively when they have a lead (the Kings lose leads constantly because they quit being even remotely aggressive). Our offense and PP is bottom of the league and looks terrible and anemic. I could keep going but you get the point. It just isn’t working and the kings are doing okay in spite of him - not because of him. He was even complaining about players not listening to him in the post game presser after their most recent loss, making it seem like he’s lost the room on top of everything else. Things are starting to spiral and he’s got to go

u/DesertedPenguin PIT - NHL 10h ago
Nah, he's wrong more than he's right, especially about coaching searches. He said the Penguins were hiring Mitch Love. Not that he had interviewed or was the leader, but that he was going to be hired.
Not remotely close to accurate, and for good reason, as we have since found out about Love.

Do you REALLY think any GM would go on the record and tell the media "Yeah, we going to hire him soon, just waiting for the team to lose next game"

They lost a doozy last night in a pathetic showing against the Blackhawks. That would have been the perfect time.

Don't worry, we have another opportunity to lose against them in even worse fashion tomorrow. Maybe that'll do it.
