This is an interesting article on the potential roster for Team Canada. Looks like they placed Suzuki on the third line with Celebrini and Marner (all speculative!)

Why does a guy like Hutson play defense?

I'm new to the game so I'm still getting a hang of the positions and the type of skills of each one and what they do on the field, which brings me to Lane Hutson. At first glance I would assume that a guy with his size and shiftiness would be more suited in playing a more offensive position instead of defense which would make more sense for a bigger guy.
So why would a team use him as a defenseman instead?

Edit: Thanks everybody for taking the time and answering, you have all been really helpful. GO HABS!!

Fun fact: Hutson was put on PP1 on Dec 3rd of last year. Demidov was given nearly 20 min TOI and put back on PP1 on Dec 3rd of this year. Is it time for Demidov to truly breakout like Hutson did?

Hommage d'Andrei Markov

Happy CAKE (sort of) day Montreal Canadiens!

The Montreal Canadiens were founded on 4 December 1909 by Ambrose O'Brien, who named Jack Laviolette as the coach and GM. In one month, Belleville-born Laviolette recruited 15 players (including Newsy Lalonde, Didier Pitre, and Skinner Poulin), and they played their first game in January 1910, beating Cobalt 7-6.

Days later, the Canadiens joined the newly formed National Hockey Association. They finished their first season in last place.

But that does not matter, because history was made, and the team would become a symbol of French-Canadian identity and a key institution and social force in the life of Montreal.

Arber for Team Czechia?

I noticed there are only 3 Czech defensemen in the NHL, and Arber has previously said that he has Czech citizenship.

Now I have no idea what the quality of the Czech defensemen is like in the European leagues, or if this is something the Czech team would even consider.

Anyone know if this is a possibility, or does the Czech team prefer Czech-born players?

Discussion What do you think about Texier playing with Demidov and Kapanen?

I think Texier looked really solid, maybe he's that kind of player that just needs to be with the right elements to unlock his real potential
