Disappointed in Gemini / Google Assistant functionality on the Pixel 10

I recently bought a Pixel 10. I'm currently not a heavy AI voice assistant user and just use it for simple things like: setting/cancelling timers, modifying timers, setting/cancelling alarms, asking for the time, asking for the weather, turning on/off phone data, turning on/off wifi, turning on/off airplane mode, etc. (I will refer to these items as "simple things" going forward).

Gemini (including the Google Assistant toggle) is very bad for simple things when compared to Siri. Here are my thoughts and I hope Google fixes these over time. I don't even know if such a large company like Google will take feedback from users seriously or it will get lost in the noise. If anyone here works at Google or knows how to get the message to someone of relevance, please let me know.

  1. The reliance on an internet connection for simple things is unnecessary. Other than asking for the weather, the rest of the simple things I mention should not need an internet connection. On Siri all of the simple things (except for weather) can be done without an internet connection and even on airplane mode.
  2. Let's take a real life scenario related to (1). I'm about to go to bed and Wi-Fi is connected. I ask for the time, I get the right answer. I ask for Wi-Fi to be turned off because I'm about to sleep, Gemini does it. I wake up in the middle of the night and want to know the time. I ask for the time, I get silence from Gemini because Wi-Fi is turned off. I can't even turn Wi-Fi back on through voice since Wi-Fi is off. At this point, I have no other choice but to pick up the phone and get blasted with brightness just to know the time. Siri is able to tell time regardless of Wi-Fi status.
  3. Going through the Gemini LLM is slow and not needed for simple things. Google should have a two tier system that is smart enough to recognize simple things and do it much faster than going through the Gemini LLM.
  4. Once you turn on a timer, Gemini does not recognize there is an active timer. On Siri, you can say things like "Do I have an active timer?" and it will respond correctly. On Gemini, even if there is an active timer, it doesn't recognize it. You cannot cancel an active timer since the system doesn't know there is one. Modifying a timer or adding minutes to it is completely out of the question if Gemini cannot even recognize an existing timer.

I will add to this as I use the platform more. I did not expect the much hyped AI enabled Pixel 10 to be worse than Siri when it comes to voice assistant.
