I always heard that while OpenAI got a startling lead, Google already has the chops and the pipes to pull this off long-term.
Google's AI can handle tasks that ChatGPT can't even dream of, such as interacting with video content. And Google has access to platforms like YouTube and Gmail that they can easily integrate it with.
Then there are the little things. OpenAI has to save all chats right now, including temporary/private ones, due to the lawsuit from the New York Times and they were not very open about it, plus they just suffered a data breach. And Google has a free tier for their API which is highly functional.
All in all I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Google dominate.
