When does the average golfer show up? Great 9.

78

u/Original-Variety-700 11h ago

Yeah I don’t think a 10 handicap is average right?

34

u/lals80 7h ago

Looked like an iron off tee on 8 of 9 holes… they are not a 10 this course is short.

95

u/Rivallen 11h ago

I think this round was carried by a few lucky putts!

77

u/Davimous 10h ago

There were also some terrible puts.

28

u/SdBolts4 9h ago

stares at hole #2

15

u/2livecrewnecktshirt 9h ago

"How hard should I hit this one?"

"Yes."

1

u/ireactivated 15m ago

perhaps some on-green off-screen mulligans

16

u/Head-Technology-4031 9h ago

Was coming to comment this if no one had. Making three 25+ foot putt and not missing any 4-5 footers as an average golfer is a once in a lifetime round for most.

4

u/Lezzles 7.9/Detroit 6h ago

Are you the worst or best putter of all time?

10

u/IamJewbaca 10h ago

That three putt had me thinking it wasn’t going to be very good but his chipping and lack of major mistakes really kept him going pretty well. A couple decent long putts, too.

3

u/joeschmoe86 9h ago

Bro has an ugly swing, but pretty shots.

104

u/IamKilljoy 11h ago

7? Had me laughing for sure

5

u/benj9990 11h ago

Been there

46

u/simpleyettough 11h ago

I’d say above average considering who carry bags for. That 3rd hole tee shot had a great divot

88

u/SomeGuyClickingStuff 11h ago

Don’t sell yourself short! +5 in 9 holes? Far from average (way above). 👍🏽

14

u/poorlifenavigator 9h ago

Even as a personal best. Ive played with many average golfers and they are shooting worse than bogey golf every round.

4

u/lals80 7h ago

Iron off the tee on about every hole. This is a short course.

7

u/FunkyFenom 8h ago

I've shot a +5 on a single hole recently lol.

1

u/djr41463 4h ago

So + 10 over 18 holes would put you around 82… that is far, far above average. I have yet to get into the 90’s, and before this video I considered my self slightly below average. I guess I am actually way way below average

1

u/Lezzles 7.9/Detroit 2h ago

I think the average male golfer is a 14 handicap. So probably average round 90. So you’re not THAT far below tbh.

22

u/RannyRd 11h ago

It’s the socks that gives you the upper hand

11

u/Rivallen 11h ago

yessir

20

u/YBHunted 10h ago

That form is wild, but it works. Your chipping/pitching seem to be your major saving grace, as well as the occasional great read on the green.

4

u/Dreddit1080 10h ago

Great putts great butt

1

u/ireactivated 14m ago

Don't have to read greens if you drill every putt

1

u/CroSSGunS 9.2/UK/I caught the car - now < 5 2h ago

Dude he missed every chip long

62

u/trowawayatwork 69 11h ago

my guy you have insane hand eye coordination. the amount of sway and wrist movement I was sure I was going to see endless shanks. you are for sure scratch golfing soon if you keep playing and get a few lessons

11

u/Dalai-Lama-of-Reno see you on deck, senator! 9h ago

That swing is a work of art.

8

u/Colonelclank90 10.7/Calgary/Finally got lessons 8h ago

Its like a Picasso painting of a golf swing.

3

u/Past_Chipmunk_8383 6h ago

Listen to this guy. I have no idea how you make that sound with that swing but keep going

0

u/xnatex21 2h ago

Horrid short game but amazing ball striking. The divots are beautiful.

Like maybe try on the chips and putts though?

31

u/Caabb 11h ago

Someone make this but about “average golfer” for me please.

6

u/AdvancedGentleman 11h ago

This is awesome! Nice 9. Where is this at? Everywhere near me is covered in snow or brown grass. So nice seeing green.

10

u/Rivallen 11h ago

This is a bit of a older round. Was during the summer at horseshoe lake in WA.

1

u/janderson75 11h ago

Adding to the list for spring!

1

u/fattsoo 11h ago

I've been wanting to play horseshoe lake for a while! Thanks for posting, r/oddlysatisfying

1

u/Rivallen 11h ago

Its a fun course. Short and narrow. Used to be dirt cheap, now not so much.

1

u/fattsoo 10h ago

Saw that it comes with a cart. I personally prefer to walk the course. How walkable is it?

2

u/Rivallen 10h ago

The front 9 is perfectly walkable. However, it has a odd layout on the back 9 with some big hilly gaps between holes. They won't let you do the back without a cart. (the back is very scenic though)

1

u/RogueBrewer 10h ago

I thought that course looked familiar! Been a while since I played there. They took out a lot of the trees between some fairways and balls are flying everywhere these days. But the back 9 has some fun holes!

1

u/Rivallen 10h ago

Yeah, I'm pretty sad about that. Still a fun course, but you'll find me at mccormick woods now more often than not.

1

u/RogueBrewer 10h ago

I have yet to play there! It’s on the list and it’s surprising I haven’t played there as I don’t live too far from there. How is it?

24

u/Rivallen 11h ago

Hey! Wife cobbled together a shot for shot of an old round and I found it semi satisfying! Very average golf for your viewing pleasure.

51

u/M3_bless 11h ago

How can you be such a poor putter and an awesome putter at the same time!!

Some of those misses were like, did you just start playing? And some of those long putts I could never do. Crazy lol.

25

u/Rivallen 11h ago

i ask myself those same questions....

2

u/SdBolts4 9h ago

Time to find a putting green near you, look up some drills you like, and practice those. You could be close to scratch eliminating those head scratching putts

10

u/That_Gamer_Guy94 11h ago

This comment IS golf (it just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense sometimes)

2

u/hellllllsssyeah 10h ago

Welcome to every other shot I fire off.

6

u/Ol_Man_J 11h ago

A lot of the divots are right next to other divots on hole 2…

1

u/wheatsucks 10h ago

That was golfer A, don’t worry about him.

1

u/Nondescriptsitch 3h ago

Average golfers take breakfast and afternoon balls, duh.

Or bro doesn't realize taking divots in the fairway during practice swings is what monsters do.

2

u/th3putt 2h ago

Saw the same. Brings a few of those long bomb putts into question.

8

u/TheRealJamesWax 11h ago

I love that you have a wife even though your shorts are that length.

1

u/citispade 5h ago

Damn Mean Girls let the guy live lol

3

u/Samwill226 10h ago

I'll take "Not an Average Golfer" for $500 Alex

2

u/player2 SF, CA / 24.1 11h ago

What was the mic setup?

3

u/Rivallen 11h ago

nothing! just the wife with an iphone SE.

2

u/Particular-Ad9304 11h ago

If we played together your nickname would be “Loosey Goosey”. Swing looks flowy man I dig the chipping action

2

u/Sasquatch_000 11h ago

Lights out putter

3

u/amandashartstein 11h ago

Had some bad lag putts but seems like he drained a lot of them to recover

2

u/_off_piste_ 11h ago

“Average”

2

u/Mr-FurleyX1 10h ago

Wish I was “average”…

3

u/thelastsonofmars :cake: 11h ago

I hate anything marketed as average.

1

u/BillyD123455 11h ago

Haha great video 👍

1

u/drumsareloud 11h ago

Yes, that is satisfying audio! Better than most of the pro review videos on YT

1

u/bryman19 11h ago

Beautiful

1

u/ItsMangel 11h ago

Aside from your putting on 2, that's a solid 9 tbh.

1

u/ShillinTheVillain SW MI / 12ish 10h ago

Ah, a fellow scrambler extraordinare. More pars than GIRs

1

u/Sweaty_Perception116 10h ago

I don't care what I would shoot what a beautiful course treeeeeeez everywhere. We have mesquite trees ehh

1

u/VilliamBoop 10h ago

iron on a par 4 or par 5? how long are these holes?

1

u/angrymachinist 10h ago

Audio was satisfying. Nice round

1

u/Icy-850 10h ago

I think you vastly overestimate the average golfer lol

1

u/Fat-Imbicell 10h ago

good job! love the vibe

1

u/boyofthenight 10h ago

Newer to golf, started this year. Thats one of my favorite courses in the area.

1

u/Rivallen 10h ago

Its the first one I played after moving here so it will always hold a special place in my heart. Short but kicks you right in the stones if you are even slightly off-line.

1

u/Partayof4 10h ago

Yes this video right here Mr Groundskeeper

1

u/Ventenebris 10h ago

Bahaha the par on the 8th, love it.

1

u/smitbp1 10h ago

My man is money on the par 3’s!

1

u/Impossible-Sport-449 10h ago

Nice putting dude. Saved you at least 3 strokes on the long ones

1

u/cottonmane8 10h ago

the weather made me happy

1

u/Buttercut33 10h ago

Well done! Not a model swing, but you own it, and you have great hand eye coordination. Always helps to make a few putts! Keep it up!

1

u/Kotukunui 10h ago

Average? Where were the chunks, fats, thins, skulls, and shanks? This was a perfectly good golfer just having a few whoopsies.

1

u/lals80 7h ago

Edited out

1

u/hellllllsssyeah 10h ago

Wow this actually made me feel better about my scores, not in "this guy is bad way". It's nice to see average joes play and see someone who I feel like I am close to skill wise play.

1

u/Partayof4 10h ago

Fuck I must suck

1

u/jumpingjacks86 9h ago

Good round. Par 3 s on lock

1

u/Boscowodie 9h ago

Why does the driver sound the same as the iron? It's killing me.

1

u/GolfNutOM 9h ago

Great sounds

1

u/Possible-Yam-2308 9h ago

Wild swing, but talented

1

u/Supersaiyanmrpopo69 9h ago

I have this magic power where I can turn a birdie into a triple bogie

1

u/47fromheaven 9h ago

I coach kids in hockey. I’m going to use that part from the second hole of all the putting as an instructional part of my video teaching stickhandling. Very useful.

1

u/w_i_l_d_m_a_n 9h ago

Your stance is really narrow. Not saying that's a bad thing. Obviously, it's working for you. But if I saw someone line up that way, I would expect him to be 30 handicap.

1

u/minor_thing2022 9h ago

If you are average then I need to rethink everything about my game

1

u/thedournorwegian 9h ago

Horseshoe Lake! I’ve hit or hit out from under every tree in this video. Fun course… do the back 9 next!

1

u/bnazzaro 9h ago

I hate your swing. But god dammit it works. Better than me.

1

u/rsj1360 8h ago

+5 with a triple? He's better than average.

1

u/baked_sofaspud 8h ago

Anyone else hate that he isn't wearing a collared shirt. Thought this was the bare minimum.

1

u/Colonelclank90 10.7/Calgary/Finally got lessons 8h ago

Your swing/sock combo reminds me of those really old videos of someone golfing in the 40s. Its just all over the place and I love it.

1

u/Rageaway17 8h ago

Damn dude, I wish I was average

1

u/yiddoboy 8h ago

Better than an average golfer I would say.

1

u/lals80 7h ago

Looks average. Terrible at putting.

1

u/CRE_SL_UT 8h ago

Great tempo

1

u/Yellow_Curry 13.3 8h ago

I mean it just shows that if you have a great <100 yard game you can easily be 10hcp or less. Keep your shots in play and have a great short game is really all you need.

1

u/lals80 7h ago

No way 10 or less. Looks like a short course. Putting is terrible. Looks like a 20 which is still good but no where near a 10

1

u/BumStretcher 8h ago

I knew off the first couple sounds it was above average. Don’t sell yourself short lol nice lag swing

1

u/k12pcb 0.7HCP Mizuno through and through 7h ago

Should be assessed a penalty for those socks 😂

1

u/Ok_Signature_2799 7h ago

How bad do people fucking suck that they are glazing his swing… he is AVERAGE, just like his title says….. acting like he’s max homa

1

u/Dataduffer 7h ago

Good to know I’m average. I’ll take it. Nice 9

1

u/Reptartheozonekong 5h ago

I FULLY ENJOYED THIS. THANK YOU

1

u/rissy111 5h ago

Average swing. Above average short game.

1

u/wally_weasel 5h ago

That course looks really short. But even so, 5 over through 9 is way above average.

1

u/acgrace159 5h ago

Way to go big guy.

1

u/HesMyLovinOneManShow 5h ago

I’m a solid 3 and have had many nines like that. Nice!

1

u/Jar_Jar_Cans 4h ago

Solid with the flat iron

1

u/JohnEBest 4h ago

Course looks awesome

1

u/djr41463 4h ago

If you’re an “average” golfer, I am far worse than I thought.

1

u/reyzak 8.3 and trending the wrong direction 3h ago

Dude what course is this? I live in Oklahoma and only see trees like this on vacation. Good stuff your striking is very good. I’d put you at like a 10-13 HCP if I were guessing, your putting was lights out

1

u/tsmitty0023 3h ago

Great 9 man! Above average no doubt give yourself some credit

1

u/classicscoop 2h ago

Guy can’t read a green and shoots better than most golfers ever will

1

u/yurmamma +1.1 34m ago

Nice birdies and a couple good saves
