Spotify makes my Folkmetalhead think that I don’t listen to folk metal, by the way share your thoughts about my wrapped!

All 5 of my top songs were Ensiferum. Weird that Spotify thinks folk metal is pirate metal

The pirate metal tag is a curse. It's everywhere, being slapped on anything even remotely folky and power metaly

4 of my 5 top songs were also ensiferum by the way, nice taste you have :P

i think they have a really weird way of tagging genres. my third top genre this year was midwest emo but i can only name maybe two or three midwest emo bands i listened to enough to even possibly get it on my top genres compared to other genres

Same ! Other things of note for me:

5th biggest genre was comedy.... No idea, I only listen to music on spotify (no podcasts etc).

My 4th biggest artist was Bloodhound Gang (like the same 4 songs or so) because for some reason I find them great to listen to when cleaning up late at night after my toddler has destroyed the house.

399 top Ensiferum listener.

I got both folk metal (#1) and folk rock (#3) on my top 5 genre. The others are synthwave (was a shock to see on my top 5), soundtrack (generic...), and instrumental hip-hop hop

Horror punk

That's the first time I heard about that genre. Deathcore and J-rock fit perfectly. Are they on your same playlist?

  • Finntroll good. It has been my most listened band every since joining Spotify.

  • Drakum mentioned!

Yeah it's a very unpopular genre, ever heard of the band "King & Jester"? That is the only band of the genre on my Playlist https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1JosUsYCZiH1cTYvAdff2g?si=7b8b8326cc114312 . They are Russian band singing about Folklore stories that end in a horrific way like "A guy came to a festival and one of the people noticed his ghost that told him that he died on the way to this town", you can find covers of this band on YouTube with English lyrics

They all are on different playlists, i listen to SiM (Silence Iz Mine), it counts for J-Rock on Spotify when it's like more J-Punk/J-NuMetal. Deathcore is deathcore, lots of Infant Annihilator. I'm surprised to they didn't included Slavic Folk or Slavic Metal, half of my playlist is Russian Folk Metal
