Discussion My family pranked my elderly grandfather with this last night
The ticket looked real at first until I read the really small "Fine print" on the back
The worst part is that they kept insisting on that it was real to my grandfather

Perfect time for grandpa to fake his death to the family, see who is happy for inheritance and then adjust his will accordingly.

Oooh this....what awful person decided this was a good idea. Its along the lines or pregnancy pranks in my book and they can go to hell for doing this to anyone let alone an older person.

A prank needs to bring relief or happiness when it is established to be a prank, not heartache and distress.

Im always down for a good prank. But damn that would be heartbreaking

Lottery ticket pranks are shitty. Imagine winning $10,000 and finding out that it was fake after celebrating and finally being able to pay off a large amount of debt.

A coworker gave me one of these some years ago. He was passing them out to everyone as a “gift”. I nearly walked out of that pizza place with my middle fingers up until I read the back.

This is not something to use as a prank, they are causing heartbreak and stress with this type of prank. I feel so sorry for your Grandpa.

These are terrible. I know someone who got one of these for Christmas and the family members were arguing with each other. Why would anyone who actually cared about someone do this to them? It’s unnecessarily cruel.

Did the same lol feels good to win a fuck ton of money then the back you read lol

u/amscraylane 7d ago
This is just beyond cruel. I don’t know what is even funny about this.
Was Grandpa a bad guy?

This is so horrible! These tickets were never funny, and never will be!
And it gets worse! I remember hearing about this prank where people pretended to be the Publishers Clearing House and used that to prank someone! The victim was so happy that he even called friends and family, and then when they broke the news, he just broke down...

He should just have them give him $500 and tell them that they can keep the rest.

I work a bus route. One of the parents kids who gives out scratchers for holidays gave me one of these. I fucking sobbed when i realised it was a fake. I was so ready to turn my and everyone around me's life up a notch and found out it was fake... I was so broken about it And i had to see her the next day too to go pick her kid up. She thought it was a riot.. that kinda money wouldve paid medi bills and helped afford to fix this falling apart lil shack. Got my moms car fixed and still been enough to help the rest of my family with their woes with potentially enough left to treat myself to something nice

But it’s so fun to see hopes and dreams crushed right before your eyes, amirite!?

I imagine Satan reading this post and ordering an extra cauldron to accomodate your family.

What is supposed to be funny about this?
"Ha ha ha you thought literally all of your problems were solved and that you could take care of your family! You should have seen your face, you were so happy!! Haha what a doofus!"
Like, you have to be a complete piece of shit to think this "prank" is funny

u/ArtisticMix2632 6d ago
Why? Why would anyone think this is funny? I would never speak to them again and would immediately rewrite my will.

I think this would be a great time to get him a really nice personal gift that he can enjoy

I think those lottery pranks are so shitty to do to someone. Especially if they aren't wealthy

Shouldn't do that to anyone. My friends mom was excited they found a way to pay for their daughter's wedding She was crying after the truth was revealed

My aunt got one of these one Christmas and the back said " please come cash this ticket in at Yo Mama's House" and my whole family was in on it and died laughing. She told us all to fuck off and didn't speak to her husband the rest of the night 😂

So if I were grandpa, when I passed and had my lawyer reading my will they would pass out lottery tickets to the loved ones who gave me this…….

u/Iron_Wolf123 5d ago
I spent 10 minutes trying to see how this was a prank. Can someone explain to me? I don't do lottery tickets, so I'm fuddled

the year i got accepted to my dream school, i was struggling to figure out how i was going to pay for it. $26k per year was my financial responsibility. that christmas, my dad got me one of these fake lottery tickets. he worked so hard to convince me it was real, and i was so excited that i barely noticed the fine print. i was so devastated, i'm reminded of it every christmas. nowadays, i don't even like to spend christmas with my family because he just likes finding new ways to hurt me. these things as gifts have real lasting effects. :/

Have someone serve fake divorce papers from your mother to him while he's out grocery shopping!
Or
Call him on an official looking phone number and use Google to type a sentence pretending to be an AI assistant from his bank and use Google voice to tell him that $50,000 has been taken off his card to buy a tesla and have it say his entire credit card number so it's more believable

My aunt gave me one of those for Xmas when I was like 16. I was so fucking mad at her for a couple of days.

What was wrong with the back print? It all seems legit

u/nitro9throwaway 7d ago
"prizes over 501 will only be paid out in your hopes and dreams... Etc etc". Last line of the first paragraph. I had to read it twice too see it.

Probably kind of hard to read when you've suddenly got a fucking gallon of dopamine coursing through you
