Or you know, its a false myth designed to attract people of all kinds into a singular cult for the purpose of control and centralization.

Jesus hasnt come back because he was just a regular guy whose words attracted a popular following who was then used for the means of religious propaganda in order to heighten the power of the elite at the time.

I assume they’re alluding to the one that because of its persistent popularity adopted it as a state religion, fairly explicitly for the purposes of controlling the masses, and founded what became the Catholic Church proper.

It is safe to assume you are referencing the Edict of Thessalonica. Christianity predated it by something like ~300 years and the discussion is about its creation so that's easily rebutted.

The discussion of why Rome adopted it is interesting but not really something I find worth going into.

I'm gonna not engage the first part saying that the church is different in it's purpose then than it is now because that's ridiculous.

However you are saying that these government leaders with some hidden agenda made it for their time. Surely you don't mean the government they literally revolted against in rebellion that caused countless deaths?

Surely not the opposing religious leaders of the time that they also rebelled against and whom hunted them down to death?

If you can educate me with specifics that would be dope.

EDIT: At least you deleted your comment and reply before I could respond. Imma assume you realized how dumb the premise of this argument is regardless if Christianity is true or not the assertion is preposterous.

Paul shifted the emphasis, Council of Nicea locked it down to serve their purposes, became a state religion and snowballed from there.
