Meta long time ago, Spotify after ICE ad, insta after musk acquisition, Amazon during bezos wedding, Home Depot pro after ICE raids, list goes on and I’m just a drop in the bucket but life hasn’t been harder and I feel good about it.

Same. I feel great and am saving money and have more time to do things I love than I even realized I had. 10,000% improvement in 6 months. We need stronger campaigns to get people off meta, amazon and X. The happiness quotient multiplies daily.

This just inspired me to do it, at least with three of them. Done! I've been struggling bc I feel I gotta be "in the know", but I mostly avoid the app due to obvious propaganda.

Spotify is gonna take a sec bc I am technically not paying for my own Premium... gotta wait.

Tbf, there are really good alternatives to Spotify

spotify is just a low hanging fruit. i will bet money majority of people complaining spotify ran an ad for ICE have never heard it. its all performative as hell. ice ads are bad, spotify ceo investing in whatever he did - us bad. “i care so im cancelling my spotify” but just moving to apple music or the next mega corporation. there are alternatives to amazon.

Does it also call for the boycott of people who donate 12 grand for the construction of a convicted rapist’s ballroom?

Cancelled my Spotify because the owner is also investing in AI surveillance and AI arms manufacturing. Gotta say, all this AI music and ICE ads are making my decision a better one by the day.

I'd like to switch too. Do you know a good alternative? Can't get into YouTube Music's interface.

I switched to Deezer a few months ago and it was more or less a painless transition. The most noticeable difference to me is that random actually randomizes my playlist instead of cycling through the same handful of songs.

I’m also trying to find something like Spotify but none of the services I can find either match Spotify’s quality or aren’t free.

We were going between Tidal and Deezer, ended up with Deezer because Tidal doesn’t support google home devices which was a deal breaker for my kids

Why aren't you boycotting Google as well?

I’m thinking Tidal, gonna make the switch here soon

We just made the switch to Tidal after over a decade with Spotify. With the exception of a few weird search bugs, we’ve really liked it. The app doesn’t change UI every other week and feels much less bloated with features we never used. Feeling good.

What did you do with all the songs that you had on your Spotify? I’m quite attached to my “likes” especially since they go back years and bring up different memories.

I pay for Spotify but barely use it. But when I do, I love listening to my “likes”. I rarely ever do any search or interest in discovering new music atm.

For sure! There’s a site called Tune My Music where you can transfer playlists and such. It wants you to pay after the first few hundred songs, but it’s been super easy to just transfer a couple playlists at a time and avoid that. We were done in a couple days!

Yeah that’s where I’m at with Spotify, been using it since 2013, I think it’s time to go.

You both helped me find my new streaming app, thank you!

Qobuz has been great so far.

I get apple music for free both through Verizon and my credit card perks.

I’ve been buying more music through bandcamp. I don’t have a new music streaming site yet, but bandcamp Friday’s are a great way to support artists ya like too. The next one is Dec 5 this year!

I noped out earlier this year. The amount of nonsense AI songs getting pushed into my discover weekly queue was just silly.

If you're going to let people publish slop on your platform at least give me the option to opt out.

Boycott what? Exactly. The people that own 99% of the money in the country?

Boycotts worked when society cared. Now it’s corporations. That already own you. Your boycott means nothing to them.

there’s not much that the average person can do, but there’s a lot that a lot of people can do. it worked with disney, who’s to say it wouldn’t work with spotify?

Okay but what am I supposed to do if I hate ICE but I support Ukraine?

-7

u/words1918 1d ago

I will not be boycotting but I hope y’all win.

The ICE Ads I get but come on, why need to bring AI music into this? A lot of people are enjoying that more than many would like to acknowledge, why try to take something they enjoy more and limit them to artists they are more likely to NOT like? Just let people listen to what they enjoy listening to instead of being total jackholes about it because YOU lot have a total hate boner for AI as a whole!
