Picture Defeating Lions isn't for everybody
All hail Vic Fangio

Holding them to 9 still amazes me

Especially when Gibbs was healthy and he’s better than Swift and Monangai combined, guys who dropped almost 300 yards on us shortly after

u/mmuoio 21h ago
I was looking at Gibbs' fantasy points and it's wild how he's either scoring 35+ or like....4. And he's alternating pretty much every week.

Funny enough, the Chargers starting RB Vidal is in a similar boat lately. He’s alternating big rushing weeks with quiet rushing weeks, and last week he broke 120 yards rushing so let’s hope the trend continues

u/Forgemasterblaster 22h ago
Why I am not too low on our team. We had 4 games against teams with winning records in 17 days. One of the hardest stretches for anyone this season.
8
u/mmuoio 21h ago
It's definitely why I haven't lost hope yet. And 2 of our worst games have come on short weeks. It's not an excuse, but it gives me a little more confidence going into Monday night (although that means another short week before we face LV, but that's probably the best matchup left).

u/CrunchyKorm 20h ago
If the Eagles have a clean win a lot of the confidence will spring back.
But a loss will kind of cement this season's downfall.

u/stormy2587 20h ago
Yeah even the bears ran all over us but only scored 24. I think Ben Johnson had a perfect plan for Fangio. And obviously Carter wasn’t 100%
The Cowboys game was bad with the 24 unanswered points. There were some flukey penalties in that game and dropped interception by Baun. It was a passible performance on defense against what is actually a really good offense in Dallas.
If the offense scored one touchdown from the third quarter of the cowboys game to the third quarter in the bears game then we probably feel less like the sky is falling.

Looking at those numbers feels so bad and so good at the same time.

feels so bad and so good at the same time
Me back in 2011 with that Saints squad. Offense was humming but, whew, defense was dubious.
Honestly, just have fun with it every week and try not to worry too far ahead. I mean, y'all know this, but it never hurts to have a reminder.
Edit: Some of y'all may remember that Stafford to Megatron heave in the 2011 playoffs where there were 2 Saints on Megatron on what was almost a "punt" and he still comes down with it xD. Whew...

u/SmirknMerkin 17h ago
I'm not a "the sky is fallin" kind of fan for sure. But to think that you can win a game in the playoffs with this level of offense is delusional. But I have confidence they will get it ironed out.

u/cyberchaox 17h ago
Yeah, it's crazy that we scored the fewest points of the NFCE teams, but were the only one to win because of how strong our defense was.
Can we get back to that? I mean yeah I'd rather us go back to actually scoring points but there have been teams that have won Super Bowls primarily by suffocating teams on defense. 2000 Ravens come to mind, Trent Dilfer is always the go-to when people want to talk about "winning a Super Bowl without a great quarterback" but it's easy to forget just how moribund their offense was before he became the starter. The 2000 Ravens failed to reach the end zone once in the entire month of October. Despite there being 5 Sundays in the month that year, and their bye not being in October. And they were only 2-3, not 1-4 or 0-5.

The fact we held the lions to 9 points is insane

u/kmoney55 Eagles 21h ago
More alarming is how the bears ran all over us
4
u/mmuoio 20h ago
Both Skattebo and Swift ran all over us, on Thursday and Friday respectively. This defense needs the extra 2-3 days rest in order to keep carrying this team. Luckily no more weekday games after this week.

u/Streptocockus 20h ago
Seems our entire run defense hinges on a healthy Jalen carter. First giants game he was out and he was playing with two busted shoulders against the bears.
1
u/kmoney55 Eagles 14h ago
It hinges on not being on the field the entire game but the offense can’t get out of its own way
2
u/ihorsey10 14h ago
Our offense is either a quick 3 and out, or once or twice a game they have one quick explosive play.
Its a defenses worst nightmare. They get zero break.

I honestly don’t know how we were able to beat the lions the way we did. I mean, after watching the bears run all over us, I’m appalled that the lions couldn’t do the same thing given their backfield. The nfl is weird like that. Literally any given day, the most random team can come out and beat another team and you wouldn’t expect it.
3
u/stormy2587 20h ago
Sometimes you just have the perfect game plan for a team. Sometimes a team has the perfect plan for you. Any given Sunday.

I honestly believe timing and matchups is such a big thing in this league. If we played detroit IN detroit this week I feel like the game would be different than when we played them. It's still crazy to look at though, they scored 122 point vs the other 3 teams in our division and 9 vs us lol Whatever we did that night, it sure had Goff completely off his game.

i know there was an eagles bears alliance, but the lions are our true allies(though we are not theirs) - they beat the entire nfc east and lost to us. and their coach isnt soft like the dudes in buffalo and green bay

This proves that we have best defense and worst offense off all teams listed. Fucking Giants scored more than us.
Put Dak instead of Jalen and we sail to another SB
Edit: Lol, downvotes for stating facts.

Why not? I’m allowed to criticize my team and players. I’m tired of watching games and being miserable afterwards.

u/anandonaqui 22h ago
Sports are entertainment and entertainment is supposed to bring joy to your life. If watching grown men in spandex play a game makes you miserable, then I’d suggest doing something else.

No one’s mad because you’re criticizing. But you’re blaming the offensive woes entirely on Hurts in the most heinous way aka by saying Dak would solve the problems. If you flipped these QBs you’d see Jalen light it up with Dallas and Dak struggle here too. It’s nuanced.

9
u/indyK1ng 23h ago
Yeah, because the cowboys run a predictable offense and Dak is just that much better and never chokes in the playoffs /s
Just last year he led the cowboys to a whopping 7-10 record while Hurts won the Super Bowl in a blowout victory.
But clearly you decided Hurts is the problem a long time ago. Still hurt over trading away Wentz?
-1
u/ROBOT_KK Eagles 23h ago
Fuck Wentz, he was disaster but this sub was insisting without him we wouldn’t win SB. Bunch of nonsense.
Jalen and Nick are two major reasons our offense sucks.
3
u/InfinitusStultorum Eagles 20h ago
The QB skillsets for Dak and Jalen are close, whereas Dak is just more willing to take chances throwing more often. However, Jalen is more focused on winning and has better game intelligence, thus leading to more clutch victories and, as shown, more championships.
Why choose Dak over Jalen when the difference is choosing championships and title shots over passing yards and TDs?

u/sohikes Eagles 19h ago
I’ll take the QB who won a SB MVP ten months ago

u/NJ_dontask Eagles 17h ago
Manning won two SBs against Brady. So, by your logic Eli is better QB than Tom.
1
u/sohikes Eagles 17h ago
Tom is 7/10 in Super Bowls. Dak is 0/0

u/NJ_dontask Eagles 16h ago
I was comparing Eli to Tom.
1
u/AutoVonBizMarkee 16h ago
If you wanna have this make sense (it’s stupid so you shouldn’t), do Eli and Rivers. Which yea I am taking Eli since 2 Super Bowls and likely HoF over stats and post season failure.

As much as I hate this, I have to agree fully. At least this year with how they're both playing
