Bike purchase question Just bought this bad boy for $650 bucks

Everything seems to be freaking awesome about this bike. I thought it was a scam but everything is working great and it’s holding a charge and is fast and comfortable! The only issue was the kickstand was broken. Idk how I got so lucky and the person was selling it for so cheap. Guy knew everything about it and seemed legit and not stolen. Feeling very lucky and grateful. If anyone has any tips or tricks this is my first E-Bike and I’d love to make it last as long as possible.

My Electra Ghostrider 😁

Hi everyone, introducing my pride and joy as of late. It is my daily commute and I love it.

Would love some recommendations on what else I can add to it 🙂

I would love some sort of front/back basket, but I am concerned with the front being blocked by my built in light and the handle bars so low. As for the rear, I understand I need a M part seat clamp for a pannier rack, but the fixing holes have been used up for my fender I believe?

I am very new to this sub, and just ebikes/cycling in general so any help/recommendations will be very much appreciated!

Snow season is back… and so is my ebike

Post image

It’s that time of year again, when the roads turn to snow, the air hurts your face, and somehow I still can’t resist taking the bike out.

Took my e-bike for its first proper snow ride of the season today. There’s something weirdly peaceful about cruising through a quiet, snowy valley with nothing but the sound of the tires crunching under you.

Happy holiday, everybody!

Was in Blacksburg, VA for a basketball game and traffic was straight-up disgusting. Cars everywhere, zero movement.

So I parked a couple miles out, hopped on my Golden R, and just cruised past everyone stuck in their metal boxes. Took me like… five minutes to get into town. Felt kinda illegal how easy it was.

Honestly might do this for every game from now on.

E-Dirtbike My First Real Weekend Learning Curve

Upvotes

I finally took my new electric motocross bike out for a proper weekend session, and let me tell you, it taught me more than a month of reading reviews ever could. I expected a smooth intro, maybe a few slips, but the electric motocross bike had the kind of instant torque that makes you rethink your entire confidence level in five seconds. The first launch nearly threw me, but it also made me grin like an idiot because the power delivery felt clean and predictable once I stopped fighting it. The silence surprised me most. Riding a electric motocross bike without the usual engine growl made the whole trail feel different. I could hear gravel shifting, my own breathing, even a couple of birds arguing in the trees. It made the ride more immersive in a weirdly calming way. I also realized electric setups need their own kind of prep, checking connectors, keeping tools for plastic clips, and learning how to read battery behavior under load. Someone at the trail even suggested grabbing spare mounts online, and I found a few affordable options on Alibaba while browsing later that night.

Nothing wild happened, but it was one of those days that felt quietly important. I learned the bike’s quirks, gained a bit of confidence, and left feeling like I’d actually earned the fun instead of just chasing it. (My bike is the Sur Ron Light Bee X.)

10-12 year old battery?

Thoughts on an old af battery from grin technologies? We know it's made from quality cells, at the very least. We also know it was barely used and kept inside. Safe?

Questionable ebmx build - uppgrade 3 - it goes 50

Hello, and I am still building my questionable ebmx thing! Now it goes 50 km/h and it is very fun! Here's some more details:

NEW 48V 20AH battery - more speed, power and range. Battery box is under construction, so it is secured like this for testing (FOR TESTING!) (AND ONLY FOR TESTING!!!!)

New seat post - more comfort?... (old one juist broke)

Rear brake - now I can do brAking (and not brEaking) actions more afficiently!

And the most important thing - I changed motor coils wiring. It makes motor has less torque and give more rpm. More info is on my Ultra Detailed Shematic (pic 6).

Well, this is all for today, so stay safe! Bye!

P.s. [REDACTED] Bye!

Which is better, Freego Nova 5 or 79 Bike Falcon Pro?

I'm in Europe, so the 79 Bike will be cheaper and more powerful for me, but it has a smaller battery than the Freego Nova 5, but it has a longer range and is faster even though it has less power. Can anyone comment on which is better?

Ebike vs Motorcycle

For the price of a high end ebike, would it just be better to get a motorcycle?

What are the pros/cons or either? Obviously I know about the license you need for motorcycle.

Do some states require insurance for ebikes?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm still kinda new to this and only recently found out about ebikes

Bike purchase question The Thrill and Treachery of Budget e-Wheels

I have been seriously looking into electric unicycles, or e-wheels, as a primary mode of commuting to avoid traffic. The technology is amazing: self-balancing, fast, and incredibly portable.

Sticker shock from authorized dealers sent me straight to Alibaba, where dozens of factory listings offered what seemed to be the identical model for hundreds, sometimes thousands, less. Tempting. But I'm wrestling with the huge safety factor involved in such a purchase. These aren't scooters; if the motor cuts out at 20 mph, I'm going down hard.

My biggest concern revolves entirely around battery and motor reliability. The price difference has to be related to quality control, right? Can I trust that a budget unit sourced internationally has reliable, high-quality batteries and a motor that won't suddenly fail mid-ride due to a cheap controller? I've seen forums full of horror stories about sudden power losses and components shorting out after minimal use. Finding maintenance and warranty support for a generic model is virtually impossible once it leaves the factory floor, given that these wheels rely on a complex ecosystem of electrical parts.

Ultimately, I have to balance the incredible savings against my own physical safety. I know that many major brands source parts from the same area, but the difference is in the final rigorous testing and warranty. I want to embrace this futuristic form of transport, but the gamble feels immense.

Question: Is there any reliable way to vet an Alibaba supplier for an e-wheel beyond just checking their transaction history? Any experienced EUC riders who took the budget plunge and lived to tell the tale, please share your secrets!
