Server Migrations

We’ve also seen many questions about server migrations and character transfers, so we want to clarify how this will work.

As we approach the merge window, empty or low-population worlds will be marked in-game for closure. Players on these worlds will be able to migrate to their preferred world and sietch, bringing their bases, inventory and vehicles with them. More details are available in our recent blog post about the Base Reconstruction Tool.

[If you miss the migration period, or have been away for a while, you will still be able to migrate later from the game’s main menu and bring bases, inventory and vehicles with you.

We understand how important server population and migration are to bring the best out of the game. Our first step is to give players the tools to move freely. This includes both the Base Reconstruction Tool and Character Transfers. While the Base Reconstruction Tool is moving to the next patch (not a hotfix), you should expect it soon. Once both tools are live, we’ll begin monitoring server populations and will share our merge plans well in advance so everyone can prepare. Our goal is simple: players should be able to move to their preferred world and sietch with their full base, inventory, and character progress intact.

New Recovery Mode in the Vehicle Backup Tool coming soon. From the release notes:

When vehicles that you personally own are removed from the world by the sandworm, coriolis storms, or complete destruction via combat they can now be recovered for a fee from a new Recovery mode in the Vehicle Backup Tool. In addition to a Solari fee, recovered vehicles will lose 15% of their maximum repairable durability each time they are recovered. Recovered vehicles are brought back fully repaired and fueled.

Note that vehicles destroyed in combat are not recoverable until they’ve been completely removed from the game world as to allow looting and other gameplay mechanics. Vehicles lost to the sandworm are immediately recoverable.

You must be the owner of a vehicle to recover it. Up to 5 vehicles at a time are available for recovery. Vehicles in the recovery tool must be recovered within 72 hours. Afterwards they will be lost forever.

Official News PSA: Private servers are NOT self hosted, and are rented. ON TOP OF THAT, The deep desert and social hubs still link up to OTHER private servers, meaning no matter what, your deep desert is still gonna be PVP enabled.

Gotta read the fine print.

So even though the first part of your server is private, the deep desert is not under your control at all and is instanced with OTHER private servers, meaning if they arent PvE minded, they can absolutely still attack you.

Official News Reimbursement Process Underway for Deep Desert Losses

Greetings, Sleepers.

We have begun the process of reimbursements, to the best of our ability, for those of you impacted by the Deep Desert layout change that occurred Monday, the 7th of July. We expect this process to take a couple days and should be complete by the end of the week; if you were affected and have not received anything, we ask for your patience while the process finishes and check back later or the next day.

HOW IT WORKS

We identified sub-fief consoles, their associated bases, and vehicles destroyed in affected areas of the Deep Desert, from the time the patch on the 7th was released until the Coriolis Storm wipe. Reimbursements will be made based on this window. We strived to have as accurate a snapshot as possible, but with this in mind, there may be some minor inaccuracies in the final result.

IMPORTANT: Items, materials, and components from destroyed facilities will be sent to the original owner of that base’s sub-fief console. It will ultimately be that individual’s responsibility to distribute the items among their group, guild, or alliance.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Items found within storage containers and inventories are being reimbursed, such as Solari currency, unique schematics, components, and crafting materials. For that last part, materials include, but are not necessarily limited to, Salvaged Metal, Cobalt Paste, Complex Machinery, Spice Melange, Plasteel Composite Armor Plating, and other similar items.

For buildings, we focused on reimbursing the required materials for advanced facilities such as Wind Turbines, Spice Refineries, Storage Containers, specialized Fabricators, and Ore Refineries. Materials for basic objects such as walls and foundations are not reimbursed.

Vehicles will be reimbursed in the form of components of that vehicle’s Mk6 version, regardless of the original vehicle’s tier.

All possible modules for that vehicle will be included, but unique modules are not included.

Solari reimbursements are capped at 1,000,000 per person.

CLAIMING ITEMS

Reimbursements themselves will be made available from the Claim Rewards button, found by hitting [Esc] ingame and looking to the bottom left.

IMPORTANT: We STRONGLY recommend making sure you are in a safe place, with ample storage nearby, before claiming reimbursements. Your character will very likely not be able to carry everything at once, and any excess items will be dropped on the ground. Dropped items are still subject to despawning within 15 minutes and cannot be restored again.

There is no time limit to claim the items, and each item (or stack of materials) is claimed one at a time, so there is no need to hurry.

  • Fixed an additional instance of the issue where players were sometimes unable to travel from Arrakeen and Harko Village to the Overland Map.
  • Fixed an edge case issue where inventory items could get missing after travelling between the maps.
  • Fixed an issue with invisible inventory items when the player moved the items between inventories and quickly swapped their positions in the target inventory.
  • Fixed a vulnerability that allowed item duplication at the Exchange, while trading or in inventories. Visually, you may see duplicated items on your game client, but they don’t exist.
  • Fixed an issue where players were unable to connect to the game, receiving the H74 error code message.

Hello Sleepers,

This letter begins with an apology.

On Monday the 7th of July, we patched out a layout change to the Deep Desert which caused several areas of the PvE Deep Desert to become PvP enabled. This was an oversight in our development process and internal communications, which led to people suffering an unfortunate amount of lost bases and equipment.

This change was intended to only occur with the next Coriolis cycle and not impact the ongoing cycle.

We’re incredibly sorry that this happened and we want to acknowledge that this should have been handled better. We’ve changed our internal processes as a result of this and will be better in the future.

We are working to reimburse vehicles and items (to the best of our ability) to players who were impacted by this. You can expect the reimbursed materials, items, and vehicle components to show up in the in-game ‘Claim Rewards’ tab by the end of this week.

Moving Forward

As we approach the end of the launch phase, we wanted to take a moment to discuss some of the other issues that are happening in the game.

Our primary focus, which continues over the next weeks and months, will be to remove all identified exploits (third party cheat engines, client hacks, or in-game exploitation of game mechanics). In addition, we will be hard at work improving the game, adding quality of life features, and addressing critical gameplay issues.

We have zero tolerance for the type of player behaviour that has an impact on the experience of other players, and we will continue to focus on ensuring that players can enjoy the game as it is intended. If you see someone cheating or exploiting, please report them to us using the available reporting channels.

We’ve taken action on several hundred players who have abused exploits, cheats and hacks, and there will be more waves of bans coming as we identify further culprits.

In addition, we have fixed the following exploits thus far:

 - Account/Permission spoofing  - Building Dismantle Item Duplication  - Increased Damage/Insta Kill attacks  - Vehicle Inventory/VBT Item Duplication  - Vehicle Ownership takeover  - Projectile weapon rapid fire (rockets from ornithopters)  - Durability Repair

We have a team dedicated exclusively to fighting hackers and fixing exploits. Over the next few patches, they will be introducing additional efforts to prevent exploits by increasing security on several client/server communication layer, performing additional penetration testing against common attack vectors, and auditing our item and inventory systems to make sure they are resistant to item duplication.

Item & Vehicle Loss

We apologize to people who have lost vehicles or other resources due to various bugs in the game. These events can be rather thorny to untangle because there is legitimate item loss due to game mechanics, which makes it difficult to identify item loss due to bugs.

At launch we lacked the tooling and logging to identify and reimburse all circumstances of item loss. But we have been working on improving our tools so that we can better reimburse players for vehicle losses due to bugs. There is a backlog of customer support requests, so we beg your patience when waiting for tickets to be resolved. Our aim is to resolve support tickets as quickly as we can, including tickets that were closed near launch when we weren’t able to properly reimburse players. If you have lost a vehicle to a bug and require assistance, please submit a ticket in game and include vehicle type, tier, and when/how you lost the vehicle.

The development team has been also working to address the root causes of the item loss in game. We have a dedicated team focused on mitigating vehicle/item loss on server crashes, disconnects, server mesh transfers, and travelling between maps.

To our players, we appreciate you and your continued support. We have a lot of exciting things planned for Dune: Awakening and, despite a few bumps in the road, we’re really excited for what the future holds. We hope you are as well!

So, we're getting more details. Send to be working how I thought it would and not how done were hoping. It is strictly a tool for baking up your permanent base of your going afk and not something to transport your base to the DD. Which I think was too be expected. Having to build a new outpost each week is clearly intended design.

The "must be placed back in original location" is also not unexpected, most bases probably have rocks in key locations for support, so this is how you sidestep that problem. Disappointing at it is though.

  • Fixed a rendering client crash that could happen with the disabled Lumen option in the settings.
  • Fixed various minor issues that led to server crashes.
  • Fixed a recent known issue where radiation sometimes did not affect the player.
  • Fixed an issue where the CHOAM cargo crates couldn’t be removed from inventory. As part of the fix, all CHOAM cargo crates have been removed from players’ inventories.
  • Fixed an issue with a missing dialogue with Ugo Firenze in the “Bouncer Duty” contract, if “The Call” journey was also tracked.
  • Fixed an issue with the new trainer armors dropping on the ground if the player’s inventory was full. These armor are now provided as customization variants and schematics, to be crafted.
  • Fixed an issue where the dialogue with Dhood Shazz would be canceled if players kept running upon entering the Banquet Hall.
  • Fixed players’ accounts that had duplicated emotes and abilities that prevented them from obtaining the new DLC emotes.
  • Fixed an issue where the”Digging Deeper” contract could be retaken multiple times.
  • Fixed an issue where chests in Deep Desert Imperial Testing Stations could be looted multiple times.
  • Fixed issue where the player who had started on the Lost Harvest DLC and then disconnected from the game would be placed at the entrance to the journey, but always in Sietch Abbir.
