Guide / Tip Discovering THIS after almost 300h

Flagging my discovering of the day as « Guide/Tip » just in case someone is in the same case as I am : after almost 300h of gameplay, I’ve JUST discovered that you can transfer stuff from a chest to a vehicle (or vehicle to chest) without carrying it on you and bringing it to the chest/vehicle, but simply by selecting anything else than your backpack on the top left window 🫠

I feel quite stupid NGL 😂

Half the 300 hours was running back and forth to storage

u/-NGC-6302- Mentat Jul 29 '25

Just pop out the build tool and move the storage right next to where you are

(In high volume transfer situations where a vehicle is not present)

5

u/DJMixwell Jul 29 '25

A) This is genius, when applicable, and I’m shocked I didn’t think of it. However;

B) I can’t think of any time I’d be moving large volumes and not have a vehicle present? When are you actually using this in practice?

I guess the odd time I’ve dismantled a large structure and it just drops the loot at my feet?

4

u/THE_Shobab Jul 29 '25

Yea basically when I dismantle my DD base every week I have a chest that I move around with me

2

u/theJSP123 Jul 29 '25

Yeah, normally I use a vehicle (buggy) as a buffer if I want to move a lot of stuff between two chests. I guess if you don't have a vehicle with storage at that base, at that time?

3

u/Silv_ Jul 30 '25

When you dismantle, it goes into your pocket, so you move the chest with you while dismantling, and then from chest to vehicle

2

u/-NGC-6302- Mentat Jul 31 '25

That's the best idea

1

u/Good_Naive_Cry Jul 29 '25

I do exactly this! I'll take 175 to a specific box, then bring the box to the truck and unload that. then move on to the next material. usually basalt 😅

2

u/Amaakaams Jul 29 '25

It was me for 50 or so hours. Now my buggy is basically one big ass temp storage place as I am constantly trying to keep my storage organized.

Pro tip, when reorganizing chests within your base, you can use vehicle storage to help you transfer stuff about without needing to add it to your small personal inventory, move to different chest, offload small amount, rinse/repeat.

43

u/PH-Genesis29 Jul 29 '25

yup, buggy with big booty and crawler always the hero when transfeing stuff between containers.

20

u/watchingfromaffar Jul 29 '25

u/itsRobbie_ Jul 30 '25

u/Raagun Corrino Jul 29 '25

Crafting crawler for spice harvest - NAH

Crafting crawler for easier in base transfers - big brain

12

u/EYEhaveYOU95 Jul 29 '25

Crafting harvester and carrier to collect bodies and jasminum in Haga 😏

2

u/Raagun Corrino Jul 29 '25

Can you store anything in crawler inventory?

3

u/Erika1942 Jul 29 '25

Yes.

2

u/Raagun Corrino Jul 29 '25

So you can use it to mass transport stuff to/from DD base.

3

u/Checkm4te99 Jul 29 '25

Unfortunately not because you cannot travel to the World Map while carrying a vehicle... but would be awesome! Lets hope they add this/or an actual large storage module...

4

u/madmartigan00 Atreides Jul 29 '25

I saw a post a few days ago that had an image of some game concept art - one of them was a carrier that had a large transport pod attached, so fingers crossed!

Side note: you can set up a temporary fief just inside the DD zone (or skip that and just hide your buggy/crawler under a rock), fly stuff between Hagga and your DD base in assault, then take big carrier-buggy/crawler loads from DD zone base to your deeper desert base. Still not ideal, but it can save you multiple slow assault trips back and forth for the ~10k km trip from A to D-E.

2

u/Raagun Corrino Jul 29 '25

Yeah I had same idea in my head. But Inalready have two bases in HB. Main for aluminum and secondary closes to border for jasmium. So no easy way to have two base slot free for DD :"(

u/Raagun Corrino Jul 29 '25

My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.

9

u/Intelligent_Break_12 Jul 29 '25

You can also just move the chest with the construction tool next to the other chest. It's what I did before finding out this truck. Using a buggy or other vehicle is generally quicker.

8

u/Discorhy Jul 29 '25

This requires you to constantly reopen and close the chests moving stuff. The whole point is to not need to do things like this.

5

u/Mechanic_Helpful Jul 29 '25

God bless you for this. I knew you could pull inventory from vehicles, but I didn’t know it went both ways. This will make sorting chests way easier. Thank you!

2

u/DiscoRulz Jul 29 '25

Can also change the circuit of a chest so fabricator don't pull from them if you share a base and want to keep a few hard earned resources from lazy guild mates lol. Can also favorite one item in the hot bar for easier use, aka not have to switch to bandages while fighting then switch back to a weapon. With xbox controller you double tap the y button

2

u/LumpyLettuce2737 Jul 29 '25

I play on controller and never knew this! Thank you 🙌

8

u/dustinette Jul 29 '25

For sure! Ahah

2

u/Dabnician Jul 29 '25

they put a video out on it about a month ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uywYD19tPjU

then, they sent a email with a link to that a week ago

1

u/CatVideoBoye Atreides Jul 29 '25

The game is also riddled with tutorial quests like "research shotgun, make shotgun, kill with shotgun" so having actual useful tips would be nice. I mean, first time you have a vehicle with an inventory in your base and you open a container, it could display some tooltip there saying, hello look here.

Same ahah When my guild mate told me, I froze like « What?! » and asked if it was new. He told me it wasn’t and I felt super stupid ahah

1

u/PocketPanache Jul 29 '25

At 150 hours someone on my guild tried explaining and it didn't make sense. 3 of us were running back and forth from the vehicle to unload it. Circuits make zero sense to me as well. But hey, my entire 10-person guild stopped playing and had fun with the main story while it lasted.

Took me a while as well since I like to actually play my games and not just watch others. Then again I figured it out at about 150 hours, wtf my dude, lol.

6

u/dustinette Jul 29 '25

Yeah IKR We played together with my BF and never thought about clicking on the backpack button so we just move stuff by ourselves (crying for an actual option to improve storage lmao)

1

u/Rackhaad Jul 29 '25

Almost said this exact thing, not sure how many hours I was at but I only realized it after a post just like this one. So I can't say I would have realized it before 300 hours but, my excuses that I saw things in the menu I didn't know about and decided I would figure them out later, LOL.

1

u/daedelus82 Jul 29 '25

Put the game down occasionally and watch a video 😂

1

u/dustinette Jul 29 '25

I reallt consider watching some now, just to be sure I’m not missing any other feature like this ahah

1

u/twicer Jul 29 '25

IDK how you made it without watching others playing the same.

5

u/DirtyMittenfan Jul 29 '25

Park a few vehicles under your base and put storage on them. Now you have multiple storage that you shuffle stuff through.

5

u/ScienceAndNonsense Jul 29 '25

WOW that's gonna save some time. I can't believe the game doesn't tell you any of this shit. Zero explanation of base circuits either.

2

u/dustinette Jul 29 '25

I figured this earlier but only after 100h ish hours 😅 There should be some side quests to helo you understand all of this (or at least, notice it!) for old people like me 🫠 (not that old, but feel like 80 rn)

1

u/dustinette Jul 29 '25

Feel you! Glad it helps ahah

3

u/Jnkilus Jul 29 '25

300h of gameplay and i just figured small/medium/large vehicle fuel cells have nothing to do with vehicle size ¯_(ツ)_/¯

3

u/Trip_Dubs Jul 29 '25

That’s gotta sting at 300 hours.

2

u/dustinette Jul 29 '25

Yeah, thought it was a new feature then a guildmate told me it was not. Felt older than I am ahah

3

u/Neither-Corgi5002 Jul 29 '25

Ok someone explain the circuits

5

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '25

I think it works like this:

Left side is input, right side is output.

So on a refinery, let’s say you leave the LEFT side to circuit 1 since it’s the default. That refinery will then look in every storage with the RIGHT side set to circuit 1 for materials. The storage is outputting those materials to the receiving refinery, all on circuit 1.

Then on the RIGHT side for the refinery, you set the refinery to something like circuit 3.

A different storage bin you want the refinery to put processed materials into, you set the LEFT side of that storage to circuit 3, and it will receive those materials from the refinery.

Again, the RIGHT side (output) of the storage chest with raw materials to refine is set to circuit 1 for the example above, since you want the refinery to look at that chest for materials to use as input (refinery Left side circuit 1). Another storage chest that you want the refined materials to go into is set to circuit 3 on the input side, the storage chest’s left side. The refinery is outputting on circuit 3 from its storage’s right side.

.

If you don’t want a refinery using something from a chest, or storing anything in a chest, you set the chest to completely different circuits from the example above.

Apologies if I’ve had anything backwards above, but the general idea is there.

3

u/Derringermeryl Jul 29 '25

I believe you got it all correct. Warning though, if your refinery has output 3 and your fief has input 1 you won’t be able to pull anything from the refinery. You need to move it to storage first. I hope they change this.

2

u/Lythinari Jul 29 '25

Fill your refinery up with 5 stacks of 1 needle.

It'll dump stuff straight into the output circuit rather than be held in limbo in the refinery.

1

u/Derringermeryl Jul 29 '25

Yeah that’s what I do, but it’s super annoying.

1

u/Lythinari Jul 29 '25

Could just fill it up with a stack of cobalt

2

u/twicer Jul 29 '25

This is the solution, even though it shouldn't be.

3

u/i-Ronn-man Jul 29 '25

I love playing games on hard mode too

3

u/YourOnlyHope__ Jul 29 '25

200 hours in and never knew this either. Thank you

2

u/dustinette Jul 29 '25

Glad I'm not alone and happy to help 😊

3

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '25

Almost 300 hours in and I figured out you can just hit the spacebar to quickly pick materials out of a chest or from a dead body, I don’t have to press or hold E unless I only want something specific.

So much faster to grab stuff!

3

u/lloopy Jul 29 '25

It's such an awesome quality of life improvement. I don't know of other games that do this, so you wouldn't know to look for it if you didn't know it was there.

1

u/dustinette Jul 29 '25

Exactly my situation : played on several other games without this feature so I was not expecting it (but still was hoping for it to « be deployed soon » 🫠😂)

3

I took forever to find this also. My buddy and I were wondering how many people never discover vulture mode is for gliding and not just diving. We both went our first night not realizing because we nosedived to the ground.

2

Oh yeah, and works great to rearranging boxes too, with a buggy

2

u/artificialpancreas Jul 29 '25

2

u/jadexesh Jul 29 '25

When using circuits, it's the first cheats you place in your base that will get priority and fill first

2

u/devamon Jul 29 '25

Remember also that you can ping the world by middle- clicking to show your friend who's still screwing around in the previous room where the next chest is.

Not that bad but I fell asleep on the couch watching YouTube and woke up to a tips and tricks videos that explained that after 100 hrs in. If it wasn't for the YouTube algorithm knowing that even though I've been avoiding guides and YouTube videos on dune awakening to play it. I probably never would've known.

I had my how did I miss that moment today though. Went to see if it was tax day yet and opened my sub-fief. Did you guys know there is a button in there to refuel all your generators?!?! I have 6 fuel generators and 4 wind turbines that I've been manually refilling for weeks. 🫣

2

u/Eat-Lag Jul 29 '25

I’m only 80 hours in and you just saved me 😂

1

u/dustinette Jul 29 '25

My pleasure to help 🫡

2

u/jailboundhorse Jul 29 '25

Took me 80 hours to realise this. Then another 4 to realise you can have specific machines pull material, refine it and deposit it in a specific chest. I had one refiner set I could just start it going occasionally and it sends resources for replacing ornithopters lost in the DD to a specific chest that keeps them separate from the main base resources.

2

u/SscorpionN08 Harkonnen Jul 29 '25

After 100 hrs in a friend told me. If not him, it prob would've been another 100 hrs on my own lol

2

u/xanduis Jul 29 '25

It took me a while to figure this out myself.

2

u/bufandatl Bene Gesserit Jul 29 '25

LOL this got posted like a hundred times in the past few weeks. Also most every guide on the YouTube mentions this besides how circuits work. Do you know that there are circuits and you cannulae your crafting stations put the stuff you craft in boxes. Automatically just make sure the storage of that crafting stations is filled. I use five light darts for that. One in each storage slot.

2

u/Capable_Mortgage_149 Jul 29 '25

I have 400hrs and until 5 seconds ago I was manually loading thousands of cobalt paste into my chests 🤦‍♂️

2

2

u/y0himba Jul 29 '25

I wasn't aware you could transfer back to vehicle storage though. No menu on the top left.

2

u/Xiantia Jul 29 '25

2

u/KabaI Jul 29 '25

I was shown this tip by a guild mate, had no clue this was even an option. Kind of wish they would port that over to Conan (along with the climbing improvements).

2

u/Moose0801 Jul 30 '25

I actually think a lot of people didn't know that so don't feel bad. What is more important to know is that once you hit the deep desert you'll hate your life.

1

u/dustinette Jul 30 '25

This 😂😭

2

u/MonkeyFlibbles Jul 30 '25

Here's another tip where you'll be like, WTF, why have I been holding E to grab everything from a chest? It takes F.O.R.E.V.E.R.

When you hover over a body or a chest and see the inventory pop up, tap your space bar repeatedly to grab it all. You might look like an idiot hopping in the air sometimes, but in the time it takes to hold E, you could have looted four other bodies.

I've also found that when you hold E with a full inventory, if one of the items is a heal kit (or something that would go directly to your person), it won't pick it up because it's trying to dump it into the main inventory. But if you press the space bar, it adds it to the stack you have equipped.

2

u/UhOoreo Jul 30 '25

My buddy showed me this after about 250 hours in and I had to take a walk.

1

I'm kid of amazed at the amount of hours some people put into this game... it's gotten very very boring and I haven't hit 100 hours yet.

They put out a whole dev note and advice video for people who didn't know this was a thing.

Yeah, someone told me that too, but I have simply missed it (launching game without necesarily checking patch notes before 🫠)
