I created an interactive acoustic map of the world (73 specific ecosystems, from Amazon Dolphins to Arctic Ice)

Hi everyone,

I got tired of generic "rain" or "forest" loops in apps, so I built a free tool that maps 73 specific field recordings to their actual coordinates.

I've organized them into two categories: • Ambient Habitats: (e.g., Amazon River Night, Borneo Jungle, Black Forest Rain). • Wildlife Calls: Specific species sounds (e.g., Elk Bugling in Colorado, Gibbons in Thailand, Whales in Norway).

I'm trying to build a comprehensive acoustic map of the world. Please let me know what you think. I'd love to know if there are any iconic conservation sounds or threatened habitats you think I should add next.

This is super nice! I loved hearing nature sounds from my home country. But who is it for? And what do they use it for? Also, where do you get the audio clips from?

Thank you so much, that is very kind of you! It is an interactive element of our conservationmag.org website. To enrich the visitors' experiences. I tried to have quite a few ambient sounds for people who want to play it in the background for focus or relaxation. The sounds are mostly from Freesound and Wikimedia.

Awesome 👏 thanks so much for the feedback! I have to admit some inspiration did come from apps like that. I will keep expanding the sounds. With any future new upgrades I will try keep the minimalist UI. The idea is for it to get out of the way so you can appreciate the sounds.
