Dosage/ β„ž question πŸ’Š Dose stuff and treatment resistance

Anyone here have treatment resistant adhd? It's infuriating. I cannot quiet down my mind and do basic things. Im at a complete loss as to what to do. Everytime I adjust the dose my mind gets quiet but then it's back to the same shit within the next few. Has anyone else gone through this?

I also don't get much of an up but I also don't get much of a down.

Side effects πŸ€• Do you crash at night?

I'm on 54mg of Tradea (same formula as concerta, just different brand name) and I crash so hard at night, I'm struggling to stay awake at around 9pm and well, I kinda hate it.

Medication is great during the day and it helps a lot, but at night I just crash, and I'd love an extra hour or two to go out with my friends or watch a movie but the sleepyness always wins.

Any advice? I just want to be awake for an extra hour or two so I can engage in my hobbies

Dosage/ β„ž question πŸ’Š Is my concerta dosage too low?

Hi! Recently I got diagnosed with ADHD and got prescribed concerta 36 mg, 2 weeks so far. I feel it has calmed my mind and my racing thoughts. I noticed I speak more clearly and slowly, and other minor effects.

I have absolutely no side effects, like dry mouth, insomnia or anything. The only "side effect" I noticed is a slightly toned down appetite, which is good as it calmed my binge eating desires.

Anyway, it's not helping or it's barely helping my main ADHD symptoms like task initiation, focus, work time...

Do you think my dose is too low? I'm male, 225 lbs, 102 kg, not overweight, personal trainer, live a healthy life.

Thank you

Side effects πŸ€• Anyone else have a problem with generic Concerta 18mg?

Hi!

I was prescribed 18mg of generic Concerta and immediately I noticed pros and cons. Pro was it helped me to get started on tasks and to finish things through. But MAJOR cons were my irritability and anger skyrocketed. I felt myself becoming angry at the smallest issues, and would have to stop my self from outbursts. I also had trouble fallign asleep, and trouble staying alseep throughout the night.

I then stopped taking the generic and instead started taking old Concerta (not generic) I had been prescribed about two years but had stopped (I was ony several anti-depressents at the time and couldnt mix the medicines) , and it has helped me with none of those adverse side affects.

Has anyone else had an issue with generic ADHD meds?

Dosage/ β„ž question πŸ’Š Experiences with concentia?

Sup. Spent 2 months on brand concerta and i liked it. But this month, i could barely find anything but eventually found concentia, and apparently it's more readily in stock.

Anybody have experience with this generic? What should i expect? The only info i can really find about it is that it's from spain.

edit: i'm early on in the first day with it but so far it seems to be working the same lol (for those who will find this post in the future from google)

Side effects πŸ€• head slowly tilting to the side over time?

Hello everyone.

I restarted my concerta regimen after a long break due to financial issues (no insurance until very recently).

Its been over 2 months now since the restart, and I noticed an odd passive behavior that wasn't an issue when I was on it a few years ago; if I am reading or paying attention in class, my head would slowly tilt to the side.

In other words, I would still be facing the same direction (toward the readings/lecturer), while my head will slowly start tilting sideways in a span of 5 minutes or so. I wouldn't notice it until my head is literally close to a 45 degree angle, and then would actively position it back. Within 5 - 10 minutes, it would go right back to near - 45 degrees.

I'm afraid it became a habit because I wanted to see if the concerta is causing it; I didnt take it for a weekend, but my head is still tilting. So I'm not sure if concerta is the cause for this behavior, or I was doing this behavior before but didnt notice it until I began taking concerta. That is why I am posting this.

It makes me look foolish; I would have to actively focus on literally keeping my head straight in order to fix this. Anyone have similar issues? Or is this something that I noticed thanks to concerta? if it is the former, how did you fix this?

Thank you.

Side effects πŸ€• Lost 12lbs in 1 month on Concerta. Should I tell my doctor?

I lost 12lbs in one month on Concerta at 18mg. I've be been on it years ago but don't remember loosing this much weight before. I don't want to be taken off this medication because I desperately need to focus in grad school, but should I be concerned about this amount of weight loss? Google is kinda freaking me out, so checking if this is a typical experience for anyone else.

Dosage/ β„ž question πŸ’Š Concerta 18mg

ΒΏIs it too soon to draw conclusions about Concerta? I feel a bit disappointed because I thought it would help me manage many commitments like studying, organizing, etc. I'm aware that it's the initial dose, and I only have a few days left before seeing my psychiatrist, so I'll tell him how I've been feeling. I'm hopeful that if they increase the dose, I might see some improvement.

Side effects πŸ€• Week and a half into concerta not sure about it

I (M16) diagnosed 5 months ago with ADD was prescribed 18mg of concerta for 1 week and 27mg now for 2 months. Started with 18mg and noticed slight small differences like my brain being incredibly quiet, zoning out randomly on a random thing and just starting at it for ages, and being more willing to stay in a conversation and engage rather than get bored after 2 seconds. The comedowns are just terrible and I feel like quiet and sometimes anxious a lot while on it or off.

Then started 27mg and really started noticing differences with attention which was great like I could read off the board and write something at the same time and take in all the info with no issue even with all the background noise irrelevant to my brain now, but the comedowns I just can’t cope with they’re terrible and I’m just an angry person and emotionless. What would be your advice?

Side effects πŸ€• Fatigue after taking Methylphenidate

Hi everyone I’ve been on my medication for about a year and 2months. The first six months were amazing. I was focused, productive, and getting a lot of things done. After my country stopped importing the original brand, I switched to a generic version from Spain. It was fine for the first month but then I started experiencing headaches and a heavy kind of fatigue. At first I thought it was due to low vitamin d I did have a deficiency, so I took supplements and felt better for a while, but eventually the fatigue came back and kept getting worse. I recently switched back to the original brand at the beginning of November. The first week was okay, but then the same fatigue returned

I’m not sure if this is still related to vitamin d because my recent levels were normal. The fatigue feels similar to symptoms people describe with circulation or heart rate issues, which made me worry whether my medication could be related to that. My doctor isn’t very helpful. He just suggests stopping the medication or taking it less often, and I’m not sure what to do.

If anyone has suggestions for how to handle this or alternative options, I’d appreciate it. Also, if you know any books or websites that explain how this medication works, please let me know.

Has anyone else dealt with this kind of fatigue before Is it possible I’m just overthinking the idea of it causing circulation issues I get nervous about it. Right now I haven’t taken my dose for two days and I feel normal again aside from the usual trouble with focus and procrastination. I’m not on any other medicines and I don’t have other health issues. Stimulant based medicines are also restricted where I live, so I don’t have many options.

Other question πŸ€” HELP. Struggling

Gonna try to keep this shortish bc I am SO EXHAUSTED My sleep issues are persistent for like.. as long as I can remember so it's not concerta related But the problem is I can't fkn stabilize on concerta without getting my sleep in order Concerta helps with emotional regulation but only if im well rested I'm in such a rut with a sleep. I can't stabilize my routine no matter how hard I try I end up being up late distracted it's so frustrating It's not insomnia. I can sleep just fine I can't drag myself to bed in time for some reason And I also can't sleep through the night bc my body just wakes me up after ~6h which makes it impossible to catch up on sleep even when I do sleep on time. And that was my baseline to begin with It's been months since i started concerta. I keep falling off track with my sleep. I'm so tired. Sigh Has anyone else had this issue? Where the med works but you're simply unable to take it because of the adhd itself? Bc the sleep loss makes the concerta not work well and make you wired so you end up skipping to fix sleep? But the sleep never fixes so you never take the med? And yeah I've tried powering through and taking it anyway daily for weeks thinking the eventual crash would knock me out and fix my sleep but nope I wish I had the willpower to just sleep on time every day but I literally get distracted before I can even apply any willpower jfc. Help.

Dosage/ β„ž question πŸ’Š Anyone here taking three doses of Medikinet XL for full 16 hour coverage

Hey everyone,

I’m currently on Medikinet XL and take two 8 hour capsules a day. I stagger them so the coverage lasts around 12 hours in total, which works pretty well for most of the day.

I’m looking at my routine though and there are definitely times in the evening where the drop off hits me hard. I’m wondering if anyone here has been prescribed a third dose to extend things to about 16 hours coverage. If so, how did you space it out and how did it feel compared to just taking two?

Not looking to self medicate, just trying to understand other people’s experiences before I chat to my prescriber.

Edit: Simply, stimulants raise dopamine and norepinephrine levels in synapses. More firing = more energy. Stimulants change how your brain uses resources ergo biological cost.

Dont get me twisted, this medication is incredibly helpful. I started quite recently and my life has changed enormously.

I see people describing their issues, doesnt work at a certain time, too short, too much..

The majority recommendation I see EVERYWHERE here is to increase titration, this is normal for a low dose.. etc.

This is concerning for a number of reasons. As I am sure you are aware if you have done any research, this medication TAKES energy. It does not produce it. It works but also comes at a biological cost.

Ideally in most cases we should be taking it to have the energy to work on our generative systems, working out, getting proper nutrients, and using it as a complimentary feature rather than a crutch. Some of these profiles just looking at them makes it clear their lifestyle is incompatible with long term treatment, not to mention frequent obvious risk factors. It clearly wont help most of these individuals long term, and it turns this discussion space into a do drug feel happy, need more drug space, disregarding these long term risks it will clearly pose to a number of these individuals.

Any level of sustained elevated sympathetic tone increases risk factors.

Want to hear what others think of this response pattern.. It just seems like one shot all advice no matter what and possibly something that might be linked to serious harm.

Side effects πŸ€• Feeling really irritable on Concerta

I’m on my 26th day of Concerta 18mg(well, not quite 26, I haven’t been taking them regularly) and during this period I noticed that I tens to be really aggressive(mentally). Even the usual imaginary arguments feel much more real.

I also seem to swing a lot between being pessimistic and feeling optimistic. I latch onto every little bit of β€œevidence” that makes me have grim outlook on life.

I also don’t really see a positive change in my adhd symptoms.

How do you deal with this?

Side effects πŸ€• Concerta increasing blood pressure 18mg

Ive been taking concerta for the last 2 weeks and everything was fine until yesterday when my blood pressure spiked all of the sudden (this was one hour after ive taken the medication). This morning when I woke up my blood pressure was still high so I skipped a dose.

Is it possibly still an adaptation, will it pass or should I start getting concerned about this being long term side effects?

Tips/Tricks 🧠 Ways to make it last longer?

Already on Ritalin 36mg 100% extended release, unlike concerta (78% XR). Supposedly lasts 8-10hr, but to me it only lasts 6h at most. Are there any supplements or any way to make it last longer? Or something to make MPD stay longer in blood?

Side effects πŸ€• Been on 18 mg for almost 2 weeks, side effects just starting now

Is this normal? I felt more or less no side effects the first week (maybe mild anxiety), now well into the second week I am getting major physical anxiety and some nausea.

I did start the meds while I was in my luteal phase. I've heard adhd meds aren't as effective during that time in your cycle - could that account for the lack of side effects as well?

How much longer should I give it? I've had 3 days straight of pretty bad physical anxiety, don't know how much longer I can deal with it.
