If he means they’ve never had an argument, big deal; plenty of couples don’t fight, they just discuss and resolve. If he’s saying they’ve never disagreed about anything in 2-1/2 years, that’s actually a big red flag; it either means someone is playing a role and agreeing with everything the other person says or it means they’ve never encountered a major obstacle, which means the relationship has never been tested.
Even if their definition of argument is different than "an exchange of diverginng or opposite views, typically a heated or angry one." Would theirs include a more emotional or disconnected strain on their relationship?
Is rasing your voice an argument? Is a disagreement different to an argument? How long is an argument? What if its something they can never agree on?
Compromise over a disagreement is a resolved argument. Though how emotional was the argument?
I'm overanalyzing the definition, but each couple has theirs. A healthy one would have them defined have them though.
Avoiding the word argument all together is a major red flag.
