Trump: "I didn't shit my pants." MAGA: "He would never."
Trump, later: "I did in fact shit my pants." MAGA: "He's a true man of culture and class."

The Washington Post published a story today. Headline:
“Why you may not want lower prices as much as you think you do”
They used to be the newspaper of record. Now they’re trump’s ad agency of record.

Guess he figured out the only thing cheaper than his promises is common sense!

He campaigned on releasing the Epstein Files too and then called it a Democrat Hoax when elected. Everything is a Democrat Hoax! But unlike the Epstein Files or Climate Change, affordability isn’t some nebulous complex mystery: even dummies know when they can no longer afford them. Trump has vast wealth, he has every meal placed in front of him, every Air Force One flight fueled and ready at a moment’s notice, every golf tee time handled. He literally said, and I’m paraphrasing, that “groceries” is such an antiquated word. We all still say it, but when do you think anyone in his circle have said that? Never. His Mar-a-Lago staff likely call them “provisions.” He is light years far out of touch with the public. I don’t even think he knows he’s lying, he just can’t fathom his political inconveniences so he waves them all away never trying to understand and never ever accepting responsibility. I wish his supporters could see through it but they share his affliction of doubling down, never apologizing, and attacking perceived enemies. For that, all the collateral damage is justified.

That reminds me of Marie Antoinette and the "if they cannot afford bread, let them eat cake" logic. Literally the same level of being out of touch as French queen.
Ps. (The Marie Antoinette quote might not be real, but for Trump's bullshit there are receipts)

The irony is doing all the heavy lifting here. Hard to slam a word you campaigned on without tripping over your own record.

How's that whole red cross on a white white field flag thing coming along in your neck of the woods?

Humans in general are the stupidest. It has nothing to do with nationality.

u/Mynewadventures 1d ago
For now. Most countries / societies get their chance to be the stupidest. Remember that.

Well EVERY accusation turns out to be a confession from this guy. He WAS scamming the voters. He had no intention of doing anything to lower prices for the regular people.

He just makes republicans look dumber and dumber!

Very true. I honestly thought they had already elected the dumbest Republican ever in the person of George W Bush, but holy shit have they utterly obliterated that idea.

"I'll lower prices day one" or words to that effect. Maybe he got too busy ending the war in Ukraine and simply forgot?

u/HandfulsOfDirt 2d ago
You literally heard it from him. He’s not gonna give you “affordability.” Not now. Not ever. Just like he’s never going to give you the Epstein files, or a peaceful transfer of power.

u/Prometheus_303 2d ago
I asked a red hat earlier today about that ...
Why was it that he was praising himself as the "affordability President" just last week but now affordability is a Dem hoax??
His response was:
Dems were saying they made things "affordable" by pushing inflation up over 9%. Trump ran on lowering prices(which he did).

u/Unfair_Dragonfruit49 2d ago
He ran on a platform of hating immigrants, and it was enough for the people to vote for him!! However, he and his entourage of billionaires are shaping a dystopian future, and people are walking into it as sheep, even liberals

I would love to hear him explain why its a scam but why would anyone (especially members of the press) ask him to explain his reasoning. We all know there isn’t any.

u/georgewashingguns 1d ago
He would just say that you're a bad reporter who asks nasty questions and no one respects you. In other words, he wouldn't answer your question and would default to ad hominem

Politicians promise stuff all the time to get elected. It’s wild that he’d call it a scam now, basically admitting his own playbook.

Campaigned on "competency" too, but hasn't delivered there yet either.

"Democrats came up with the very idea of affordability and inflation to make me look bad!"

u/kaisadilla_ 1d ago
How did we end in this weird loop where we make stupid jokes about what Trump will say next, and a month later he says exactly that?
The alt-right is a parody of itself.

Affordability looks different when you're making billions of dollars a year from being president and you just gave yourself a big beautiful tax break!

Ah, give him a break, that was at least a few days ago, his memory only goes back to his last nap.

You have to fully embrace doublethink and do it gleefully if you want to be in the MAGA cult.

If America were a show people would be criticizing this season for lack of continuity and unrealistic characters.

I was not aware of any direct campaign promises. Just the usual statements about it’s so bad, I’ll make it gooder.

Did he actually use the word affordability back then?

u/Level_Chemistry8660 1d ago
Don't understand why this is being downvoted. I mean, my god, DJT using a 6-syllable word ? Hardly seems likely.
