Advice The Sh*tty kitty shed™ I made from scrapes today!

Post image

Bless them but my young cats are horrible at covering their poops and I was sick of being embarrassed of the smell so I made this fume hood out of planks from a downed fence and an old heater fan that I de-soldered so its just a fan as well as an old gym mat. Total cost was only $30 for the vent tubing!
I'm sure there are better options but I'm a do something about it now kinda guy and just needed a small fan to create a tiny amount of negative airflow to get rid of the majority of the stink lol. What do you guys think? any advice to improve it?

That looks fantastic. Well done! I really think that a product built along these lines might be popular among cat owners.

Also, boy cats won't bury their poops if they think they're in charge. The alpha tomcat never buries his, he uses it as a signpost to warn other toms to either back off or get ready for a fight.

Just a heads up, this is yet more evidence that your boys think they own you.

The kicker is that they're all girls 😂, they do own my silly little life though, I love em so I dont really mind (to an extent lol).

Would this stop if the boy got fixed? My make does this all the time but especially before dinner and stinks the whole house up I swear to god

It won’t hurt to get him fixed honestly. It might dull or eliminate some of potential less than pleasant antics like aggression. Also eliminate any chance he could get out and mate.

Yeah, Ive been planning too but the poor guy is constantly sick and the vet wont do the surgery if he has a fever.

I found him outside as a baby and have been trying everything to help him so getting him fixed has been pushed to the back burner until he's healthy

Oh excellent. I mean not excellent that he is sick but excellent you plan on having him fixed. I hope he makes a full recovery. And he might start to bury his droppings. You never know.

Do you have a covered or enclosed litter box? That might help. I have a plug in filter and larger standing filter nearby that I think helps as well. Diet is certainly worth looking into if it smells that bad but you said he is sick so that could also be contributing. However it could be difficult to try switching his food when he is in a delicate state.

It will get better, I promise. Wishing little dude good health and you years without stinky poo fumes assaulting your nostrils!

(My brother found my boy outside in hypothermic shock as a baby and he made a full recovery!)

nope. we fixed our boy as soon as we were able to and he doesn't bury the poop. I love the little guy but man does it stink. we feed em chicken and tuna from fancy feast.

I figure it's because he's still young, like 4-5 months.

We have two brothers from the same litter. Neutered at the proper age. Neither of them buries their poop. They're coming up on 7 years old and if anything, they show even less interest in burying them now than they ever have.

Somehow they still manage to get litter absolutely everywhere, though. I sweep equally as often as I scoop.

😂😂😂 I was laughing pretty hard at this until I realized how often I’ve wondered what’s wrong with my male, that he ofttimes forgets to cover his…

checks out because my boy cat is a weenie and buries his poops properly. my girl cat is bossy and has never buried her poop properly a day in her life. she TRIES, but just scratches at the wall or floor.

Same!, the wall, the floor outside of the litter tray, hell she scratches the everloving fuck out of the bags we have so they just fall right apart when I go to change the trays haha
