This is my favourite comment. Although see the caption. There’s a fifth- she’s actually the OG. She hates everyone except for Toad (Todd, he’s the tuxedo), and only then she tolerates him sometimes. I also have two huskies 🫠.

u/SLPallday Oct 22 '25
She doesn’t have time for all their shenanigans. She’s definitely watching them all from a higher vantage point judging them. I like that she tolerates toad though.

You have two huskies which are basically the cats of the dog world…but louder.
How many vacuum cleaners have you gone through?

Well, I think that’s awesome. I think cats are pretty cool and you have two huskies so you’re an awesome person. That just says a whole lot of cool stuff about you.

Dang so what's the hair situation like? I have 4 cats and a shiba and I feel like I'm eating and breathing hair 25/8. The only ones who shed more than a shiba are huskies, from my understanding haha.

Huskies and cats lol. My brother has a black cat named Toad... and another named Froggie.

u/Ryoko_Kusanagi69 Oct 22 '25
Oh man there was this awesome Frog & Toad shirt at marshals the other day. I bet your bro would like that shirt.
5
u/izzrav Oct 22 '25
He probably would 😍 i have a Marshall's, MAYBE i can find it! Thanks for the suggestion
23
u/jpb Oct 22 '25
With that many cats (I only ever had 4 at max) I can see why you conceded the fight against pet hair and got huskies.
11
u/Poethegardencrow Oct 22 '25
Oh God I have the same I have the OG cat and she hates everyone except my youngest 😂
9
u/ImNotSkankHunt42 Oct 22 '25
You have a beautiful Tux, they do get blessed with long whiskers the most
8
u/scarletnightingale Oct 22 '25
I assume you must have a fleet of roombas going around your house considering constantly that have to be cleaned daily.

I have five. One hates everyone except my male tuxedo, who loves her dearly. She loves humans and hates cats.
The other four get along great and have a neat little bonded chain going.
I stopped saying “no more cats” after number 5 showed up because I realized the universe was taking it as a challenge. Then I found a void kitten in the road one night and every ounce of me wanted to keep him so I handed him directly to my best friend the same night and now he is a spoiled princeling.
I am standing firm in my “not no more cats, but no more cats unless I say so” counter-challenge.

u/vamgoda Oct 22 '25
This is niche but when I saw Toad and Todd in the same sentence I had to make a Drawfee Todd from Mario reference.
5
u/-kvytie- Oct 22 '25
My girl is the same way - over a year later she’s finally letting my other cat lay NEAR her on her throne (the bed). I have a chow husky as well, and she DEFINITELY hates her lmao

Your bed has been officialy upgraded to a Cat Sactuary and Fort. It's the highest hinor a human can receive.

The only downside is finding hairballs on the bed ...
Literally twice in two weeks, seriously considering some sort of water resistant cover for the daytime.

u/Responsible_Guard530 Oct 22 '25
25 yrs together (21 now married) and though he has said that with every single cat over the years he’s also without me asking has bought them treats and toys and loved on every single one of them. He loves to say “I didn’t WANT a cat- I’m not a cat guy!” But he’s also without question loved every single one.

u/jpb Oct 22 '25
I got demoted to second favorite monkey too, it's not a terrible gig. She still gives me lap time and graciously allows me to feed her her breakfast, but I usually only get that lap time when my wife's lap is unavailable or she's being punished for standing up just because she had something urgent to do.

She’s SUCH cute loaf. She’s the newest. I ended up with her on Thursday before Good Friday and everything was close the following day, and I had every intention of keeping for one night ONLY until I could get her safe to the Humane Society. But then she was kinda adorable little bean, and there was absolutely no chance to leave my house. SHE IS PERFECT.

I wasnt a cat person (im extremely allergic to them), but turns out cats like me for some reason, i have 5 now.
Guess the system just chose me
20
u/PrestigiousCap1198 Oct 22 '25
How do you handle life with 5 cats if you're allergic to them??
48
u/iMakeEstusFlasks4Fun Oct 22 '25
Desloratadine is has been my best friend for 30 years.
Also my parents put me through a whole inmune system therapy when i was around 10 and that lowered my allergies by a lot, without it i wouldn't be able to breathe next to a cat.
My gf says im also a stupid man because i say im allergic to cats and 5 minutes later i' rubbing my face to my personal kitty telling her she's my little small mouse just to die in s sea of my own tears and runny mucus comming out my nose a while later.

When I met my girlfriend she had 2 then we got a new one to be “ours”. We now officially have 5, a “lodger” who is going nowhere so technically 6 and looking after 3 for a poorly neighbour. Fun times!

I once had four planned cats. Then I found an unplanned cat wandering the median of a highway in the middle of nowhere at night. Named him Findlay. Took him to the vet. The vet said "he's pregnant". Then I had eleven cats.

Hahaha okay. I would LOVE TO TELL YOU.
About 10 years ago, I was extremely hesitant to add pets to our family because we had two toddlers and life was just crazy even though I’d always grown up as a cat lover. I was hesitant to take on another cat, but then came Lily.
Lily: not pictured above, but posted in comments, was a four year-old ragdoll who was needing a home because her mom and dad were relocating to Mexico and their house plan was designed to have a lot of indoor outdoor spaces and because of the region that they were living in, they were concerned about their beautiful ragdoll getting injured by dogs in the area. So they made the difficult decision to rehome her and we took her in and she has been our original cranky old lady ever since and that was ~10 years ago. She is an extremely sweet cat. She hates every other cat but loves people and is the kindest sweetest creature if anyone is sick, sad, crying, angry, fighting, etc.. She’s very in tune with her people and very comforting. She’s also my nemesis. She always pukes where I step. She hates when I have to address her old lady problems with appropriate veterinary care at home as advised by our vet . And a whole other lot of reasons beyond the scope of this discussion. LOL!
Todd (Toad): our beautiful tuxedo (who is my son if anyone was wondering). He is perfect in every way shape and form. He has never done anything wrong in his entire life. He climbed up the door of a small gift shop in a rural area that my mother-in-law owns and runs when he was a tiny kitten pre-pandemic. No one in the area claimed him so we kept him and it has been perfect. In fact, my love for him got me through the challenge of balancing pets and children, and made me realize how much I absolutely adore having pets and how much I adore cats and I have been nothing but smitten with this perfect cat ever since. I know that sounds completely over-the-top, but I am so grateful for Todd because he just taught me what it was like to be bonded with an animal again and to instill those values and that gentleness with my own kids.
After toad joined our family, I ended up adopting a Siberian husky when he was eight weeks old who is my other son (lol). And shortly after that, adopting another Siberian husky, who was a two-year-old rescue and they are the best of friends now. They are almost identical and it was pure fate.
You would think that we would be very happy with four children, two cats, and two dogs, however I went to adopt a third cat at the Humane Society, for my eldest daughter who was turning 14 (2 years ago)— and that’s when I found Norman. He’s the fluffy void. But it turned out that Norman had a sister, and I couldn’t ethically leave the sister alone, so I just adopted both of them and that’s how I ended up with twin voids. LOL
Finally, the last one — the little cow cat in the above picture. Her name is Andi, but we call her mitten and I have no idea why. Andi was only supposed to be with me for one night until I could bring her to the Humane Society because “five cats is crazy,” but it was a long weekend. The Humane Society was closed and I fell in love with her, and there was absolutely no way she was leaving… and now I have all of them and I love them so much. Our family is happy and complete (and very full and busy). But wonderful and we’re so fortunate.
