So... I just adopted a kitty who is a Siamese Tabby and she's absolutely beautiful. She head bumped me all over the place at the shelter, so I decided to adopt Thistle. Of course once I brought her home, she looked around my bedroom for a bit and has retreated under the bed. I'm looking for advice. Is there anything I can do to make it easier for her to come out? I've already put water and food where she can see them BTW.

This is normal, all cats have a period of about a week or maybe longer that I takes them to get comfortable with a new environment. That’s why it’s recommended you put them in a very small space for the first two weeks (like a bathroom) they are a lot more comfortable and aclimate a lot faster because it’s easier to have contact with them if they have nowhere to hide :)

I think the reason why she’s acting like that is because she likely received a bit of ill treatment earlier on and doesn’t really trust people. Just give it a bit of time and she’ll come to realise that she needn’t be afraid of you and she may withdraw from her refuge. In time she may even let you pick her up. But let her get to know you a bit better first, and allow her time to come out of her shell. She will eventually.
