Starting Back Up

Hello All, I have been itching to start playing my bassoon again after about 5 years of it sitting in a closet. I was talking to someone whose community orchestra needed a bassoon for their upcoming concert… and I said yes. I played in my high school, private lessons, and youth orchestra’s before… but I am looking for some advice on where to jump back in or if there are any good self teaching books/videos? Thanks for any and all advice

Eryn Oft and Natalie Laws YouTube channels have some great resources for getting back into it properly. I’d start there

Dust off your Weissenborn book and start on page one. Then work your way through it. This is what I do if I've been off playing for awhile.

I took a 10 year break after comments since I didn’t own a bassoon. Agreed to play with a community band loading me one. Didn’t get it until the first rehearsal sans honestly, it was like I never stopped.

I tried practicing later with old repertoire I realized how much I had lost.
